I am convinced from the aesthetics, the nonsensical plot, the childish dialogue, and terrible line delivery that the events of this game are entirely just a child, or a group of small children, playing with their toys. That's the only way I can make sense of this.
I need that to be in the last chapter. Imagine, it's chapter 25, the biggest boss fight yet and clearly the finale. All the characters are there. Then in a moment of awkward heroism, Banban gets "stuck" in the middle of a jump. He's just floating in the air. Then, cut to the most gorgeously animated scene of a group of children. They're playing with handmade Banban figures in a suburban living room. I'm talking Pixar level animation and voice acting. There's empty play dough cans surrounding them them, a ravaged plate of snacks on the floor and a small pile of backpacks to one side. Two kids are fighting over the Banban figure before being broken up by a parent who can only be seen from the waist down. Some of the kids' parents parents have come to get them and after a choir of "awe" they pack up and head for the door. While leaving, one kid asks another "I'm tired of Banban, can we play Choo Choo Charles tomorrow?"
The lore is basically the same as most in this genre: Company tried to make sentient "toys" to be used in a business for children (in this case, a daycare/kindergarten). The toys ended up being violent, uncontrollable. Some incident happened and kids and employees got hurt and/or killed. The toys now run amuck in the decayed remains of the facility. A former employee or other person (in this case, a parent, looking for her kids) returns to the facility and encounters the toys in their bizarre hierarchy they have built in the absence of their human controllers. This is basically Poppy Playtime with worse graphics and taking itself WAY less seriously. The scientists in this facility took human DNA, a made up chemical called givantium, and mixed it with animals to make this mascot creatures. Most ended up being violent and uncontrollable (not suitable for presentation). Others think they are the human who's DNA was used (Ban Ban/Dr. Uthman). They're basically all just insane, failed experiments and should probably not ever be released into the human world lest they murder and eat us all.
For some reason I feel like it’s gonna hit with some like psychological turn around. Like for example when the joker was split in half, fighting with himself; it reminds me of a battle with one’s own ego after embarrassment or messing up. And then it says the jallyfish doesn’t have a brain so how is it talking, while showing up at different points, almost acting as a diety. In the end what I’m saying is it’d be so awesome to see it trick everyone by playing into the idea that it’s a shitty game that bounces everywhere, just for it all to make sense at the end. Like a main character chasing something you’re not even sure exists, but implied it’s urgent and important, yet getting heavily sidetracked due to factors in the environment, or even one step further, representative of emotions/aspects of a personality in one’s head. Then again I’m just having fun trying to make it sound cool and deep cus why not.
@@Melting.Skiess That would be a interesting take, if done well. The trope of "it was all a dream" or "it was all in his head" can be awful, when done wrong and just make it worse than the events being real. Jellyfish don't have brains, but they have tons of neuropathways which create basically the same functionings as a brain. Plus we're adding in sci-fi chemicals and DNA altering. His entire goal was to use something from the main character's children to return himself to a regular jellyfish so he wouldn't be able to have conscious thought like a human does. So something in the experiments clearly gave all of these animals/things higher thinking abilities.

He likes the challenges and enjoys the nonsensical nature of the game and we get to have fun with how he makes his way through it. I think people need to lighten up about this. Plus i think there is actually some build up and improvements from the previous games i think people are missing.
no because i genuinely love this game and i cannot specifically say why but i love the nonsensical nature of this game its so stupid yet so damn entertaining. it actually makes me upset to watch people just simply shit on the game because it has truly been improving slowly but surely. it makes me glad to see people like mark who aren't just constantly complaining but also having somewhat fun and finding the humour in it.
Mark clearly doesn't "enjoy" this. He's putting on a face for it. Which is fine. It's polite, but you can even see he struggles not to call this crap out for what it is. That said, I appreciate that about Mark. Game development is hard, no matter what tools are at your disposal. And what a lot of people fail to do is actually make something when they set out to try to do something like this, and to the scale and degree that this series does. It's Mark's way of supporting a small developer, and encouraging them to keep going. My first game I made was absolutely crap. And that was only after countless failed iterations that never saw completion. And I never got around to finishing the sequel. So for a single developer to put out so many games is a testament to their ability to just put something out there. Because that's where most people fail: getting a working product out there, no matter what.
@@jazzyjswift Yes, but at the same time... you can't really sugarcoat feces, and sometimes you need to hear the criticism in order to improve. It's polite, but is it the best way to do it? Is it what's best for the developer? Your first game was shit, how much did it cost? Garten of BanBan is easily up at around $40 in price now, for all the chapters, and it'll keep getting more expensive for each chapter release. Does it deserve to cost that much? Absolutely not. Should we call the dev out for their shortcomings? For a $40+ game, yes, we absolutely should. Don't try to pretend it's not a $40 dollar game. The "chapter" way of releasing games is the exact same as releasing an unfinished game, and then releasing updates to finally finish it a year later, except, chapters cost money, so it incentivizes the developer to never actually finish it. Garten of BanBan as a whole tells one linear story, over the course of "chapters," it is, in its entirety, one shitty $40+ game.

I saw it got added to xbox recently. I almost bought a playstation there and then
For a game about rescuing children, the whole plot is just endless yapping and running with NPCs
it's definitely a weird series. the puzzles aren't particularly good. the story is a mess. the dialogue is pointless. the pages you pick up don't really explain anything. but there's something about it that intrigues, and the atmosphere is fairly good.

@@nefariou5i just think it’s absurdly funny so i still watch it. apparently i mentioned it so much with my friends one of them drew banban on my bday card.
@@daphunkyzzindahouse Lost was actually really interesting and relatively cohesive right up until it turned into some kind of time-travel analogy for purgatory jam-packed with Bible references (so somewhere during season 3, or the start of season 4 at the latest). At least they put a cut-off shot of Matthew Fox trying to drop kick Terry O'Quinn in the series finale.
Meanwhile I'm convinced this series is being written on the spot to try and minimize the amount of actual level design they have to do lmao
i think yapping and running with characters is something markiplier can connect to, especially because its not as bad as you describe it to be

You know, among the people ragging on the game, i find it funny. Mark likes playing it and i enjoy watching mark have fun getting through it.
Agreed only markiplier can pull off making garten of banban actually look entertaining XD
@@jazzyjswift he said he enjoyed the games in past episodes.
I've never seen anyone else open the door and screw themselves like that.
"It would suck if they added another mechanic to make the drone more engaging and useful."
