Dude, I played mhfu like 10 years ago and spent 200 hours playing it, and when I saw the air balloons in the maps, I always knew you could do something with them,but never knew exactly what it was, I just got my jaw dropped with that detail man, and it could have saved my ass a couple of times too , cool video!!

No problem! I'm glad! 😄😄 I can relate to that. When I was first fighting each monster I wasn't sure how well I'd do, it was scary, especially for these! I felt like I wasn't doing anything, had to look up what info/videos there were to find out that Lao-Shan's fight just takes that long no matter what lol and that I wasn't just playing terribly. I really like making these videos because it, sorta, gives me a reason to figure things out, I feel like if I did testing just for myself and didn't document it in some way, especially in a way that might help others, it just feels like a waste of time, so I don't do it. Same with making specific armor sets and getting specific weapons and using items etc etc haha, making the videos helps enable me to play smarter, something I might not normally do 😅😅😅
It's not 100% necessary, but it's kinda nice, I guess. tbh I guess you can use the bed, I still had to wait quite a bit for Lao to enter the area, so Using a farcaster to then use the bed gives you much more time of course.
Just tried to kill him a few days ago and used the Dragonator by mistake but somehow in the last seconds of the mission I managed to make him run away only using low Rathalos armor and greatsword of Rathalos too it was a epic with the music.
Mhfu Lao like looks more fun then the Generations Ultimate one. The first time I fought Lao Shan Lung was in generations ultimate. I absolutely love siege fights Jhen/Darhen Mohran, Dalamadur, Dire Miralis, Ceadeus, And etc.
I haven't fought MHGU Lao yet, but, I like the map better in MHFU, but I think the mechanics might be a bit better in GU, though I don't know for sure having not played it yet. I feel like Lao was really important because he's the first of his kind, for sure. Shen is ok, but I really like Dahren Mohran and Dalamadur. Because Lao was the first, it makes me feel like some things weren't quite well fleshed out just yet lol.

That is 9 carves if Ye plant the Anti-Dragon bomb on him and carve the 3 times then, plus 6 more after killing it. I ain't sure if there's more, I tried 4, times but that small minute at the end before returning to village just wasn't enough to carve more than 6 since ye have to run from spot to spot (back legs to belly to front legs to head)
😄 I don't think I did when I first played either, you can't do it to other monsters, so it's normal to assume you'd just slide off if you tried it, but it's a pretty fun mechanic of the fight 🙂

Aaah, thats why I always failing at this. Just know that I need to beat it at area 5, not others. I keep running out of time when he staggering all of time on other than area 5 with tons of piercing bullets. I found a good, easy way to kill G rank Lao Shan. G rank Meteor Shower HBG with power barrel upgrade+High rank Silver Sol helm, high rank Monoblos S plate, G rank Monoblos greaves, high rank silver sol legs. All together gemed for Attack up small, Adrenaline 2 and pierce shot up. Eat for felyne attack up large and bring power seeds. Also bring Pierce 1,2 and 3. Plus combines for pierce 3 (Pin Tuna/Small bone husk) and combines for pierce 1 (Huskberry/Velociprey fang). Also bring Normal 2 and 3s. Activate Adrenaline 2 while standing outside when quest starts with 2 Lg BB+, 2 Lg BB and about 2 or 3 small BB. Then while still standing there in that starting area just start firing off those Normal 3s at what you can see of Laos body until you can't see him. Then run in open supply box grab what you need and the rest of the quest shoot his shoulders and back plate until dead. Use dragonator when he is in position, fire off those 8 ballista from the supply box then carry on shooting shoulders with the remaining pierce 1. Use farcaster to grab the 30 pierce 1 from supply box, carry on til no more pierce left. Then proceed to fire Normal 2's at his belly til he dies. I usually have about 4 and a half minutes remaining when he kills over.

Haha yeah MHF1 is... a bit rough around the edges. It's an incredible game but to me will always be more of a proof of a he-... concept, they smoothed out so many things in the 2nd generation, so I'll always tell people to play MHFU if they want to play the "first" MH game lol MHF1 is still playable and all, just, everything feels very very clunky.

@@Waldz24 Uhhh... Yes. You cannot keep up the DPS if you are trying to wait for jumping at Lao Shan Lung's back. Jumping at Lao Shan Lung's back is only viable if you have a buddy that keeps the DPS going while you destroy Lao Shan's back. If you're hunting Lao Shan Lung alone, I advise you to not jump on Lao Shan Lung if you want to slay it.
You can stop the ioprey from spawning...but you need to kill around 30, which means after the tenth spawn of each ioprey...not recomended because its takes lot of time, and the cannon is quite hard to use
Lao Shan Lung isn't the only monster you can carve from while it's still alive - the head of Dalamadur (from 4 and 4 Ultimate), once you've wounded it twice, it can be landed on and carved from.
@@HeadHunter455 Also, they REALLY made this fight easier in GU. You can now put three cannonballs into a cannon (that is on tracks) at a time, there are only two areas (not including the starting area with the bed), and you have not one, but TWO gigantic anti-elder weapons at your disposal - the Dragonator and the Demolisher - a super-powerful cannon that uses an item called Dense Marcoal as a trigger. You also get restraints that can trap Lao in place. But I believe just like in FU, you cannot actually slay Lao until he's in the final area. As long as he's in Area 1, he can't go below 50% of his health. But he also gets an additional hitzone that can only be accessed under very specific conditions - the inside of his mouth. To reveal it, you have to wait for Lao to actually reach the final wall. He will lean up against the wall. Using the Dragonator (which, by the way, will change the music to Proof of a Hero as long as it hits) when he's like this will cause him to collapse, and that weak spot will be revealed, giving you a chance to deal some major damage. Frankly, you'll only ever really need it if you're trying to solo the guy. Many of my four man runs have finished Lao off before he even gets into range of the Dragonator.

Update: Didn’t kill it but I managed to repel it. Was the most badass weapon I used and I plan on upgrading as I was also using the blango set, going for the remobra set. I am keeping the head set with the veil tho. It just looks really cool

The Ceanataur Greatsword isn't the best you could get, though it's decent for Lao since it has tons of sharpness. You can get the Sword of the Diablos if you want more damage, but make sure to eat food before the hunt, for more damage, and use power seeds, for more damage, and keep your weapon sharpened, for more damage. IMO the Longsword will be a bit more effective, since if you don't position yourself perfectly, you may end up doing a level 3 charge and missing or hitting him somewhere other than his stomach, which is where you need to be focusing. I don't always kill the elder dragons, sometimes they run away, like in my Teostra video, and I wasn't too sure I could kill Lao in this video lol. You just have to keep it up and make sure to use every benefit that you can, like the anti dragon bomb and the ballista and dragonator and such.

To dictate just how important hitting the stomach is. with Ceanataur, AUL and Sharpness +1 with the Nargacuga LS (no powertalon or seeds). I did not kill the Lao Shan Lung in this quest. madness I know. This fight sadly is ultimately a waste of time, the crab was definitely "better" though and that one I killed (With Appropriate level gear and weaponry).

Now I'm using Rath soul set w/ garuga mask, is it enough for nekoht quest? Btw no need pshycicvis cz i used the Reveal map and bos cheat. lol well, I appreciate it! I'm glad you like my videos :) A good armor that I use basically all throughout high rank is the Ceantaur S set, with a couple of decorations you can get Attack Up Large and Sharpness+1 which will buff your damage by quite a bit.
Ive done this quest a number of times (had to restart a few times bec I missed the bridge in both 2 and 4 lmao) and I’ve never gotten his claw (twice repelled, once killed). It’s tiring
oof, yeah... it's an endurance run, it's rough honestly. I don't think I could ever farm this thing in singleplayer, and I try not to recommend Lao and Shen gear because of that. Maybe try multiplayer if you can.

I recently installed an emulator and have been working my way back to where I was years ago (I got stuck on granny dual plesioth) correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t you able to skip the dragonator animation by pressing the select button (or equivalent)?
@@neemojenkins881 Power Pills are effective against Shen Gaoren and Lao Shan Lung because they don't fight back. And even more so if you are using a Hammer.
Might seed is more practical in general. Power Pills are great like Jerremiah said when the monster is stunned, in a trap, put to sleep, etc. If you can take advantage of the entire duration, like right as the monster trips or if the monster is really slow or something, like Lao or Shen, it's a great boost to your damage. When fighting Lao, Power Pills aren't a bad idea if you need the extra damage, just make sure to use power seeds when you run out of them. Remember that when using a Power Pill, you don't do the flex animation, you take the item, and you can attack immediately after, definitely makes it more usable. You can get Honey and Bitterbugs from the farm or out in the field for catalysts, and to make Immunizers, you need Dragon Toadstools, you can buy them from the Granny Peddler by the guild hall, if she has them in stock they're 400z

What weapon do you main? Zin is somewhat jumpy for sure, and for the HR5 key quest, make sure to stack up on Demondrugs and Dung Bombs for a faster and easier time. You never want two Jin to stack up on you because it's very easy to die. Try revisiting Barioth for ice weapons! Farm for the HR Jaggi armor for a nice damage boost ( AuL, RA, and depending on your charm you can gem in one more skill. ) Keep at it, hunter!
@@gammaplaya2723 It's a bit harder to get the head with Hammer and HH ( I'm not an amazing player but you may know more about the matchup than I do, so feel free to use them as you may ) SnS for the extra safety, and SA for better times since Power Phials are really strong if you know what you are doing For his Supercharged state, always run away and bait out the run-into-spin, or it's leap that makes it lie on the ground. Since you are fighting two, make sure to play at your best and get the best gear you can afford! Good luck. Any other questions I'll try and answer to my best.

Any weapon would be fine, except I guess SNS or DB maybe, you want something that can reach higher than they can, I believe. I think popular choices might be LS, Hammer, and HBG or Bow?
Does buff work same like sharpness cause I never really open status screen during fights, does it extends or reset the duration like demon seed if I eat demon seed before the first effect expires it resets the duration? I haven't done this quest I didn't know a new one unlocks at 6 stars

This game can be very frustrating, try not to get discouraged! Take your time, try and prepare as much as you can, practice, and consider switching up strategies, bring more or different items/equipment. Don't give up! Good luck! 🙂
There's some quests called Key Quests that unlock the urgent quests, the other quests are basically optional ones. There's no way to know in game which are key quests, I think, but if you go to the wiki, they list which ones are necessary for progression, that's how I determine which quests to cover on my channel. monsterhunter.fandom.com/wiki/MHFU:_Elder_Quests Feel free to clear all of the quests, you get a rainbow color effect for doing that, I like doing it just to have it all cleared lol, but yeah it's not 100% necessary.

Hi. Besides kitchen attack large buff, armor skill attack large, powercharm, mega demondrug and power seed, what other attack buff did you have? Wyvern blood has only 768 attack, but how did you make it 1000+? Please tell me all of your attack buff because I can't reach that high with same weapon.
oh lmao, well, I'm using a Long Sword, and when you max out the spirit gauge, it increases your damage by 10 (or 48 bloated) LS Buff is +10 AuL Armor is +20 AuL Kitchen is +5 Power Seed is +10 Power Charm is +6 In total that's +51 on top of the 160 that Wyvern Blade "Blood" is When bloated it's 768 + 254.4 = 1022 (160 + 51) but the game just displays it as 1008 I'm pretty sure which would be 768 + 248 or (160 + 50) * 4.8 I tested it by putting on the same gear and got an unbloated value of 211 with the LS buff, which would be 1012 when multiplied by the LS Class modifier of 4.8, but I don't think it'd show as that value. Watch my melee damage guide for more info: th-cam.com/video/OLPqJSOASuA/w-d-xo.html tl;dr it's the Long Sword spirit gauge buff, notice how it's glowing in the top left. Also... now that I'm actually testing it, I think the kitchen attack buff values might be wrong...? Yeah... for some reason I thought the kitchen buff (and mega demon drug) was +7. Trying to find where I got that from.

Pro tip: bring a farcaster and combines for em, very useful to avoid getting hit by his tail, and gives you time to use the bed

Just tried to kill him a few days ago and used the Dragonator by mistake but somehow in the last seconds of the mission I managed to make him run away only using low Rathalos armor and greatsword of Rathalos too it was a epic with the music.

The first time I fought Lao Shan Lung was in generations ultimate.
I absolutely love siege fights Jhen/Darhen Mohran, Dalamadur, Dire Miralis, Ceadeus, And etc.
I haven't fought MHGU Lao yet, but, I like the map better in MHFU, but I think the mechanics might be a bit better in GU, though I don't know for sure having not played it yet. I feel like Lao was really important because he's the first of his kind, for sure. Shen is ok, but I really like Dahren Mohran and Dalamadur. Because Lao was the first, it makes me feel like some things weren't quite well fleshed out just yet lol.

Most weapon types can work pretty well against lao, I think LS is particularly well suited because of the balance between damage and mobility to stay ahead of his gigantic stompy tootsies, just gotta watch out for tripping :P Bow is pretty good too! From what I know is Lao Shan Lung is actually running away from Fatalis because Lao Shan is somekind of Fatalis's favourite food.
Well, Lao Shan eats rocks so Fatalis wants a Lao Shan to melt into its skin for some armor covering.
Fatalis eats other elder dragons, lao is running away from castle schrade because fatalis appeared there

That is 9 carves if Ye plant the Anti-Dragon bomb on him and carve the 3 times then, plus 6 more after killing it. I ain't sure if there's more, I tried 4, times but that small minute at the end before returning to village just wasn't enough to carve more than 6 since ye have to run from spot to spot (back legs to belly to front legs to head)

I found a good, easy way to kill G rank Lao Shan. G rank Meteor Shower HBG with power barrel upgrade+High rank Silver Sol helm, high rank Monoblos S plate, G rank Monoblos greaves, high rank silver sol legs. All together gemed for Attack up small, Adrenaline 2 and pierce shot up. Eat for felyne attack up large and bring power seeds. Also bring Pierce 1,2 and 3. Plus combines for pierce 3 (Pin Tuna/Small bone husk) and combines for pierce 1 (Huskberry/Velociprey fang). Also bring Normal 2 and 3s. Activate Adrenaline 2 while standing outside when quest starts with 2 Lg BB+, 2 Lg BB and about 2 or 3 small BB. Then while still standing there in that starting area just start firing off those Normal 3s at what you can see of Laos body until you can't see him. Then run in open supply box grab what you need and the rest of the quest shoot his shoulders and back plate until dead. Use dragonator when he is in position, fire off those 8 ballista from the supply box then carry on shooting shoulders with the remaining pierce 1. Use farcaster to grab the 30 pierce 1 from supply box, carry on til no more pierce left. Then proceed to fire Normal 2's at his belly til he dies. I usually have about 4 and a half minutes remaining when he kills over.
It could be if you're using Bowgun Build.
But I'm focusing on Dual Swords and Sword and Shield to finish Lao Shan Lung.

It's an incredible game but to me will always be more of a proof of a he-... concept, they smoothed out so many things in the 2nd generation, so I'll always tell people to play MHFU if they want to play the "first" MH game lol

Yes.
You cannot keep up the DPS if you are trying to wait for jumping at Lao Shan Lung's back. Jumping at Lao Shan Lung's back is only viable if you have a buddy that keeps the DPS going while you destroy Lao Shan's back. If you're hunting Lao Shan Lung alone, I advise you to not jump on Lao Shan Lung if you want to slay it.
You can stop the ioprey from spawning...but you need to kill around 30, which means after the tenth spawn of each ioprey...not recomended because its takes lot of time, and the cannon is quite hard to use
Yu only have 35 mins and Lao Shan ain't waiting for that shit!

Lao Shan Lung isn't the only monster you can carve from while it's still alive - the head of Dalamadur (from 4 and 4 Ultimate), once you've wounded it twice, it can be landed on and carved from.

you can mine from Basarios' back too, not quite carving but still pretty neat
@@HeadHunter455 Also, they REALLY made this fight easier in GU. You can now put three cannonballs into a cannon (that is on tracks) at a time, there are only two areas (not including the starting area with the bed), and you have not one, but TWO gigantic anti-elder weapons at your disposal - the Dragonator and the Demolisher - a super-powerful cannon that uses an item called Dense Marcoal as a trigger. You also get restraints that can trap Lao in place.
But I believe just like in FU, you cannot actually slay Lao until he's in the final area. As long as he's in Area 1, he can't go below 50% of his health.
But he also gets an additional hitzone that can only be accessed under very specific conditions - the inside of his mouth. To reveal it, you have to wait for Lao to actually reach the final wall. He will lean up against the wall. Using the Dragonator (which, by the way, will change the music to Proof of a Hero as long as it hits) when he's like this will cause him to collapse, and that weak spot will be revealed, giving you a chance to deal some major damage.
Frankly, you'll only ever really need it if you're trying to solo the guy. Many of my four man runs have finished Lao off before he even gets into range of the Dragonator.

Update: Didn’t kill it but I managed to repel it. Was the most badass weapon I used and I plan on upgrading as I was also using the blango set, going for the remobra set. I am keeping the head set with the veil tho. It just looks really cool

Why every elder dragon that i've met will never kill it in one go, especialy Lao with Ceanatur greatsword is not enough?
The Ceanataur Greatsword isn't the best you could get, though it's decent for Lao since it has tons of sharpness. You can get the Sword of the Diablos if you want more damage, but make sure to eat food before the hunt, for more damage, and use power seeds, for more damage, and keep your weapon sharpened, for more damage.
IMO the Longsword will be a bit more effective, since if you don't position yourself perfectly, you may end up doing a level 3 charge and missing or hitting him somewhere other than his stomach, which is where you need to be focusing.
I don't always kill the elder dragons, sometimes they run away, like in my Teostra video, and I wasn't too sure I could kill Lao in this video lol. You just have to keep it up and make sure to use every benefit that you can, like the anti dragon bomb and the ballista and dragonator and such.

This fight sadly is ultimately a waste of time, the crab was definitely "better" though and that one I killed (With Appropriate level gear and weaponry).

A good armor that I use basically all throughout high rank is the Ceantaur S set, with a couple of decorations you can get Attack Up Large and Sharpness+1 which will buff your damage by quite a bit.

Ive done this quest a number of times (had to restart a few times bec I missed the bridge in both 2 and 4 lmao) and I’ve never gotten his claw (twice repelled, once killed). It’s tiring

I don't think I could ever farm this thing in singleplayer, and I try not to recommend Lao and Shen gear because of that. Maybe try multiplayer if you can.

I recently installed an emulator and have been working my way back to where I was years ago (I got stuck on granny dual plesioth) correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t you able to skip the dragonator animation by pressing the select button (or equivalent)?

Power Pill lasts for 20 sec and only 5 uses.
Might Seed is better.
You can use the Immunizer for making Ancient Potions instead.

Power Pill is only good when the Monster is stunned for 30 seconds but other than that its nothing.

Power Pills are effective against Shen Gaoren and Lao Shan Lung because they don't fight back.
And even more so if you are using a Hammer.
Might seed is more practical in general. Power Pills are great like Jerremiah said when the monster is stunned, in a trap, put to sleep, etc.
If you can take advantage of the entire duration, like right as the monster trips or if the monster is really slow or something, like Lao or Shen, it's a great boost to your damage. When fighting Lao, Power Pills aren't a bad idea if you need the extra damage, just make sure to use power seeds when you run out of them. Remember that when using a Power Pill, you don't do the flex animation, you take the item, and you can attack immediately after, definitely makes it more usable.
You can get Honey and Bitterbugs from the farm or out in the field for catalysts, and to make Immunizers, you need Dragon Toadstools, you can buy them from the Granny Peddler by the guild hall, if she has them in stock they're 400z

What weapon do you main? Zin is somewhat jumpy for sure, and for the HR5 key quest, make sure to stack up on Demondrugs and Dung Bombs for a faster and easier time. You never want two Jin to stack up on you because it's very easy to die.
Try revisiting Barioth for ice weapons! Farm for the HR Jaggi armor for a nice damage boost ( AuL, RA, and depending on your charm you can gem in one more skill. )

@@gammaplaya2723 It's a bit harder to get the head with Hammer and HH ( I'm not an amazing player but you may know more about the matchup than I do, so feel free to use them as you may ) SnS for the extra safety, and SA for better times since Power Phials are really strong if you know what you are doing
For his Supercharged state, always run away and bait out the run-into-spin, or it's leap that makes it lie on the ground. Since you are fighting two, make sure to play at your best and get the best gear you can afford! Good luck. Any other questions I'll try and answer to my best.

I think you need to do more damage to them, if their health isn't low enough, they won't be repelled when time runs out :(

So is it better to use a longsword than a hammer because I have the atlas hammer that killed my shen gaoren. Is that ok?
Any weapon would be fine, except I guess SNS or DB maybe, you want something that can reach higher than they can, I believe.
I think popular choices might be LS, Hammer, and HBG or Bow?
Does buff work same like sharpness cause I never really open status screen during fights, does it extends or reset the duration like demon seed if I eat demon seed before the first effect expires it resets the duration? I haven't done this quest I didn't know a new one unlocks at 6 stars
Yeah you can reset the duration by taking another one. It doesn't work like sharpness.
@@HeadHunter455 thanks, I try not to get frustrated with the monoblos duo fight, I just can't beat it the way I wanted to do it, it's just mean I'm not ready to advance yet, I grind other stuff instead

I’m still on 5 star quests but do you really HAVE to complete every quest from 1-5 to unlock lao-shan lung?
There's some quests called Key Quests that unlock the urgent quests, the other quests are basically optional ones.
There's no way to know in game which are key quests, I think, but if you go to the wiki, they list which ones are necessary for progression, that's how I determine which quests to cover on my channel.

Feel free to clear all of the quests, you get a rainbow color effect for doing that, I like doing it just to have it all cleared lol, but yeah it's not 100% necessary.

Hi. Besides kitchen attack large buff, armor skill attack large, powercharm, mega demondrug and power seed, what other attack buff did you have? Wyvern blood has only 768 attack, but how did you make it 1000+? Please tell me all of your attack buff because I can't reach that high with same weapon.
Where do you see that I have it at 1000?
Demon drugs don't stack with the kitchen buff.

oh lmao, well, I'm using a Long Sword, and when you max out the spirit gauge, it increases your damage by 10 (or 48 bloated)
LS Buff is +10
AuL Armor is +20
AuL Kitchen is +5
Power Seed is +10
Power Charm is +6
In total that's +51 on top of the 160 that Wyvern Blade "Blood" is
When bloated it's 768 + 254.4 = 1022 (160 + 51)
but the game just displays it as 1008 I'm pretty sure
which would be 768 + 248 or (160 + 50) * 4.8
I tested it by putting on the same gear and got an unbloated value of 211 with the LS buff, which would be 1012 when multiplied by the LS Class modifier of 4.8, but I don't think it'd show as that value.

tl;dr it's the Long Sword spirit gauge buff, notice how it's glowing in the top left.
Also... now that I'm actually testing it, I think the kitchen attack buff values might be wrong...?
Yeah... for some reason I thought the kitchen buff (and mega demon drug) was +7. Trying to find where I got that from.
