I have ferrets too but it seems that mink are not hand friendly like my ferrets and your ferrets too.
As energetic and fun as ferrets are, they get so chill and mellow when they become elderly. Like, hey, whatcha doin'? I'm just gonna hang with you.

Was a ferret owner since 1986...they seem like ferrets on steroids...I rarely bathed my ferrets, but it was always a blast to watch them go nuts when they were dry and fluffy.

People are always surprised when I tell them ferrets actually make good pets, just gotta be patient at first and litter box train them outside the cage. One of my favorite things to do was take all three of them, put them inside a pillow case and tuck the end underneath and watch them go nuts trying to get out. It usually resulted in madness.

After everything that happened in Denmark with the minks, I had to come back to this video to see the happy side of things again. I've been heart broken all month and the other day was just too much.
Im not sure what you’re referring to but wild european mink are related to ferrets where american mink like the one in the video are distantly related

Mink are very good hunters they were used and still are sometimes to hunt other burrowing animals by drawing them out of there hole

There is a big difference between animals that domestic an are not domestic.
Non-domesticated animals are a danger when left to they're own devices. Non-domesticated animals are known to just flat out kill on a whim if it's for food or water, and amazingly enough there are some big cats that are known to kill for the pleasure of it an just leave the dead body behind because the fun was over. When I say non-domesticated animals are a danger: I repeat they are a danger even if kept in a cage for fur.
Domesticated animals can be delt with by ether treating the animal as a pet for the pleasure the human mind, and or treating the animal as a farmable source of food that is much safe to obtain.

Tame refers to something else entirely when using the context of animals an domestication.
Domestication is the process to reach domesticated and I use the word domesticated. Domesticated is the finalized process of domestication.

@SaveAFox You can get compostable kittie litter that is basically compressed shredded paper products. It's relatively inexpensive and probably better at odor control than those pellets.

I used to rescue ferrets. Awesome little critters. Did rescue an unfixed male. What a difference!! He was a handful. Of your wondering yes, I got him neutered a few days after rescue.

I have had ferrets for over 10 years I have only 2 left I would love to have minks but I am 60 years old and decided after my 2 ferrets I won't get anymore because I wouldn't want to leave them to someone who might harm them but I do love your videos I so love my ferrets and it is going to break my heart when my last 2 go

They are all over northern Minnesota they got into my portable ice house and ate all the eggs and guts out of my walleyes... didn’t touch the meat...they are cool little animals that don’t seem too be vary scared of humans.... they are brown in the summer and white in the winter here.... I feel bad for those caged ones.... poor things

The minks there likely wouldn’t do very well in the wild as they were rescued from fur farms and have lived with humans their whole lives

I recently saw another sort of vid with a mink. Dude has a pest control service and he specializes in rat removal at farms. He has the one mink and a really fast and agile dog, and between the 2 of them they can grab about 20+ rats per hour. The vid I saw was at a small chicken yard that had rats under the henhouse and in a big stack of firewood, and the chickens had to be removed or the mink would have got them first. The mink can fit into the big well-used rat tunnels and the dog gets the ones that escape out the side runs. He takes along a wide bucket for water for the mink to jump into and cool down for a few minutes about every half hour.

One look and I know that many people would think twice about buying a fur coat again. I hope everyone can get to see this video.
Mink really need to have access to water all the time. I’d recommend watching “Joseph Carter The Mink Man” TH-cam videos. He trains mink and knows how to naturally care for them very well. On his videos he shows how create an inclosed water bin for the mink’s enclosure, where they won’t get everything wet. Even if you do this routine twice a week, that is not enough time for your mink to play in water.
tip:
I like to line my bunny's litter box with a garbage bag (his litter will end up in a garbage bag anyways)
and it makes it easier to just lift up and flip inwards and done, easy clean up!
