- Although Fox mama Mikayla Raines is a bit under the weather, duty calls, and Malachi needs her help. As an indoor fox, Malachi, requires a bit more attention when accidents happen. Enjoy learning more about fox ownership as Mikayla tends to Malachi the fox by giving him a well needed washing. Speaking as someone who's worked in (human) care - I reckon you handled that really well! Some humans don't get that sort of sort of care from other humans!
Fun fact: foxes can fit through spaces as narrow as one micron, but only if they're not allowed to be on the other side.

As someone who works as a nurse, people are so coddled these days. Have a heart attack at the sight of a poo smear. Living beings stink, that's just how it is.
If people can’t put up with poop and pre then they really have no place having an animal. Remember the book everyone poops? Applies to animals too! Just wait until you have to cut poop out of a long haired dogs fur because they got sick.
@@jewelhaines8842 Has less to do with ignorant. Try to clean if male dogs or cats spray on your bed. You can wash it 10 times and it will still smell, furthermore the animal will always pee again on this spot. Talking mainly about males, females are not "that bad" when it comes to it. Panic too much isnt good but talking like its nothing is also bad, especially talking about carpet/bed/other fabrics

Malachi is a lucky guy having a person who cares so much for his well being.
As I started watching your video, my cat, Kermit (I call him Kermie), was watching the screen while sitting in the chair next to me. (He's my friend.) As your little Fox guy started chirping, or chittering, or whatever it was, my cat's eyes became BIG!!! He watched the screen intently, and froze in place! He's never been outdoors, and he's never encountered a fox before. We're hugging him now, and he's OK, but the look on his little face was priceless! Animals talk to each other! I have an elderly cat that makes messes like that. It's just something pet owners have to get used to, that and make sure you have a good washing machine. Anyone with messy pets can really relate to this video. It takes love and patience to deal with that each day. Thanks for everything you do, Mikayla, not just anyone can clean up after that many animals and continue loving them each day. They're all very lucky to have you in their lives.
I find that while older or show pets get used to bath time, even "OMG water!" cats love to be towel dried afterwards.
Older pets have given us so much love I feel that we owe them care when they're infirm. It's a small price to pay.
So true. I'm going through that with my 18 year old Siamese mix. Can't give up on him. He went from no maintenance to high in the last few years. He still has quality of life though so I won't give up on him. I took him in not to give up on him just because he is old with elderly issues.

@BosnianGanjaFarmer I hate to burst your bubble but there is no such thing as a domesticated fox. In the instance of the fox...that is an advertising term, not a biological classification. Sort of like the term Xerox was a brand name that was misused more often than not. Geneticist, have recently made great strides in the discovery of a series of genetic mutations found, in among others, domestic dogs, but not wolves. The first clinical trials will be on the North American raccoon. No plans that I am aware of, at this time, for the fox.

Disgusting! That's why I don't own a pet, how could you just be comfortable sleeping in your bed when there's poop everywhere? I don't understand people especially animal lovers.
@@MrUNCLESAM84 they don't necessarily poop everywhere if you train your pet correctly. Plus if they get dirty, you can just clean them before they're allowed to roam everywhere that you may come into contact with.
@@dredvax I do know that but I don't have the time nor the patience to train an animal plus no matter how clean they are I will never accept the idea that they can get on the furniture or my bed. My wife wants to rescue a dog so I told her you better consider an outdoor dog because I will never be okay with an animal sleeping between us, we're human beings and they're animals so they'll never sleep in my bed or sit on my couch, if you're okay with these terms then we'll rescue that pitbull but if not then let them put him down I'm not going to allow that to happen in my house.

You know, I stumbled upon your channel several days ago and I have to say that it is so flippin' awesome! Thank you for sharing your adorable little critters with us! Most people don't realize how much foxes are like dogs! I've had a fascination with foxes since I saw a documentary about an old Russian experiment about 80 years ago with silver foxes (I think this was the type, but not sure) and how they kept mating the ones with stronger domesticated (friendly) type attributes and with this, they found that as they ended up with extremely friendly foxes (all kept in separate cages), they started getting more colorful. There is a theory as to why, but I won't go into it. I just ended up falling in love with them. But, I would never seek to own one as I am not equipped to deal with their hyper personalities. Again, thank you so much for sharing them and I'll definitely share your vids!
It may seem like that at first. It foxes really aren't much like dogs. I volunteer at this Rescue weekly, sometimes multiple times. Foxes have their very own behaviors.
There are cats and then there are dogs and then their are foxes, it's like comparing apples oranges and lemons all are fruit but they have their special qualities which makes them unique.
Actually, foxes and cats have a lot in common too. Foxes don't have that pack instinct so defining of wolves and dogs. They're more solitary hunters like cats, and that makes a big difference in how they relate to humans.

malachi is a man of many talents- able to and WILLING train Mikayla in how to bathe an adult fox by being a poopy butt, and also has a funky little yawn... also, knows how to give good hugs, even if he is angry with her! that was really so sweet, almost human how he hugged you, even though he was angry.

Its nice to see someone who isnt like "oh foxes are such awesome pets and are such a blessing to have in the home!" and instead warns about the fact they really shouldnt be pets. Even though Malachi is an indoor fox he still cant even be partially bathed without risk of getting bitten and you were very careful as to not let him even come close to thinking about it.

Bathing a fox seems like bathing a cat. It's not something you'd usually do, but when you have to...
I have some really mean Siamese cats but I gave them a bath before for being too messy after the vet. They would claw the vets face off if they could but will not do anything to me giving it a bath.

Get a dog bathtub. Some models come with a removable base/legs and attached to a hose or install nozzle. Could install tub outside or in a shed or mudroom. Also more sanitary and better control as you are not in the tub with them.

Every day I wake up in the morning and when I open my phone I watch these foxes and it melts my heart. I watch it because it just gives me a positive outlook. I love this channel.

Red foxes have been bred in all sorts of colors just like dogs.
I always start with a small treat and end with a couple of treats as a reward. Just a light muzzle is helpful with some to protect yourself. Gently talking the entire time seems to help as well and distracts them some. I'm so glad you have such great love and patience. Bathing is not something they're used to but really....a lot of people seem to share that experience.
