    Quakers are very chatty and smart..

  • @lancethrustworthy

    Yup, they're Quaker/Monk parrots. A hearty breed known to build 'condos' on power transformers for the heat during the winter.

      Eric W awesome. They should be protected. We didn’t do shit to stop doves starlings or grackles so why kill the much cooler more colorful parakeets? Am i right

      They're a pest in america because of they're ability to ravish whole farms these birds come from s america where wild fruit is abundant not so much in america hence they're a pest

    • @geninelang
      @geninelang 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@alibee7147 Actually, there's no proof of quaker parrots "ravishing" whole farms. That is fear based commentary not based on fact. They do build extension colonies but aren't a threat to farms or agriculture here in the US as once was thought.

    They are in Dallas Texas also, they visit the date tree until all the dates are gone, they also have smaller green parrots in Ft. Worth Texas with very larger nests in the trees at the corner of 5th and Bryce, just off interstate 20 & Crowley James, they are beautiful and fascinating to watch

    Ive seen these beautiful parakeets in San Antonio and in Austin. See alot more of them in Austin especially in the eastside. When I lived with my ex there was a wooded area behind our apartments and back there was also a large cell phone tower. I hear these parrots like cell towers because they have a 360 degree view of everything around them. So point of the story whenever we would get in bad arguments I would end up in the woods alot to avoid more conflict I would sit in the woods and let her cool down. I would drink a beer while sitting in the woods and I could hear the distinctive calling of these beautiful birds above my head cuz I would sit underneath the tower. Sometimes I would sit there for a couple hours enjoying the peaceful sound of these birds. Watching them take off 2-3 at a time and circling back to the tower. How I wished to fly away with them. Glad I got out of that situation and out of that toxic relationship. Sadly I cant visit my parakeet neighbors anymore cuz I dont live with my ex anymore. And the last thing we need to hear about is “ex boyfriend hanging out in woods behind ex girlfriends apartments” (claims to come by too visit parrots) 🤦🏻‍♂️

    We have them down here in Houston, Tx but do these parrots migrate?

    • @GreenWingSpino
      @GreenWingSpino 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, Quakers don't tend to migrate overseas, but move to new areas inland somewhere where there is plenty of food. I saw a few during the winter in San Leon (south of Houston) once.

      @d. nuzzio They're south american, specially from Argentina, and it surprises me that they're in europe and north america too haha. They're beautiful and a good company friend, very loyal to the owner and protector. They will think you're they mother if you raise them in the first weeks. They even can talk and sing.
