Cool ass fact. The actress that plays crazy aunt Bethany is the original voice of Betty Boop and Olive Oil. Betty Boop's look was based on her in her younger years and the last thing she did in any movie was voice Betty Boop one last time in Who Framed Rodger Rabbit.

Aunt Bethany is by far my favorite character in National Lampoon’s Christmas movie. She’s hilarious. Watching National Lampoon’s Christmas movie is always a tradition at our house for the Holidays 😂😂😂
The Actress who played Aunt Bethany was the original voice of Betty Boop. They even brought her back for Betty's cameo in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." shortly before he death.

18:30 - Walmart has been around for a good while! Back when Sam Walton was still living, he focused entirely on small to medium sized towns and never built stores in large urban areas. That changed sometime in the early 90s.
When I was a kid the only Walmart I’d ever seen was in a small city in the very outer suburbs of my large city.
The movie with the bell, and the little girl is the BEST Christmas movie ever..."It's a Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stuart.

A little tip that I learned the hard way because of this movie. You NEVER put up Christmas lights with a staple gun! I tried it one year and each staple comes out at such speed that they become high velocity razor blades that do nothing but server the wires lol. Thanks a lot Clark lol.
We do it every time we replace our outside Christmas lights. They stay up till they quit working.

As much as i genuinely love this film it’s too family friendly/safe for a National Lampoon film (But, that’s probably the reason why this entry in the series is so loved and celebrated! i was born in 1979 not sure when but, a Wal Mart was built around 83/84 in my town (It’s one of the earliest memories i have as a small child going into a big store The entire layout/structure of Wal Mart’s in the 1980’s were produced of that decade (Very bright colors) and a bit overwhelming if you were a kid (Malls in the 80’s shared this same vibe but, on a more massive level (The scene in the store where Clark & Eddie are grabbing huge bags of dog food within the film that was Wal Mart

Regular Walmart have been around for a long time. At one time Walmart and Kmart had an agreement that they wouldn't build more stores if the other didn't. Kmart broke that and Walmart came out with the Supercenter. Kmart had Big K and Super K.... but we know the rest.....
The TV version of the original Vacation had alternate line readings and cuts, so maybe your Christmas Vacation viewings did too.
The first Walmart was opened in 1962. Of course, back then, it was Wal-Mart, as you saw on the sign in the movie.
That old woman was the cartoon voice of Betty Boop in the '30s and '40s, and reprised Betty Boop for Who Framed Roger Rabbit? She also was the voice of Olive Oyl for Popeye cartoons into the '60s.
Bill Murray's brother played Clark's boss; in the first film he was the desk clerk at the tent rentals. The woman who played the boss's wife appeared on Star Trek: The Next Generation multiple times as a strict admiral who didn't get along at first with Picard.

About the turkey at the dinner table scene yes the turkey can explode like that when it's fully still frozen and not thawed enough and oven rack is at the lowest level of the oven. My family's Thanksgiving one year was like that ^^;
They used different actors to play Audrey and Rusty in each movie. You should react to European Vacation that was the second movie in this franchise and Vegas Vacation was the forth.

Hey, I paused this video right after I saw Clark cut the ties to the tree in the house, and it reminded me of something. My Dad once built shelves for my Mom, put them together and secured them to the wall and ceiling.....and THEN sanded them with an electric sander. My Mom has never again asked or told my Dad to build and/or place anything.

Walmart started out in the south (Arkansas) in the 60s. By the late 80s it was the second largest realtor in the US and in 1990 it surpassed Kmart. But it still wasnt that common in the north east. I know the first store didnt open up in my state until 1990 (York PA, which was also the first store in the entire northeast). But by 1993 they were starting to spring up all over. The first one in my area (Johnstown PA) opened in that year.
This movie was 89 so it was pretty common in the midwest and south. My guess is walmart was getting ready for the big (northeast and west/California) invasion, and they paid for thaf little spot to raise themselves up in the public consciousness.
