I thought I'd let you know this video helped me fix my dryer this past weekend. Your going on three year old video has probably helped thousands of people make this repair possible. Thank you.
Fantastic job!! Just got done with mine a half hour ago. Pro tip for anyone doing this, my issue was the heat coil busted. So when swapping it out the replacement may make you think it won’t fit and is too small but you would be wrong. It fits just fine, you have to squeeze the metal housing. That threw me for a loop.
With the help of your video I was able to fix my dryer that would run, but had no heat. Your video saved me hundreds of dollars for calling out a repair person or buying a new dryer. People like you who share their knowledge help many people. Thank you so much !
The only reason I could think someone would thumb down this vid is because they are the ones who flip broken dryers. So informative and bonus to have the links to buy the parts needed for this swap. Subscribed and look forward to future videos. THANK YOU FELIX!!
After 10 years of never any issues with our Samsung dryer, but it stopped working this month. Thanks for this video and products, I order the part on Amazon then fixed my dryer !!!
Sir. My husband works night. I didn’t want to wait one more day to do laundry (7 kids). This is my dryer, and I just fixed it!!!! Thank you so much. I kind feel like a super hero 🤷🏼♀️😂♥️
For a nearly 100% fix it the first time.. just replace that whole heating element assembly (that sheet metal "tube" the heating element was in) not each part, trying to figure out which one. That assembly, or tube includes the thermostat, thermomister, heating element, and I think.. the thermal fuse - and all this is roughly only like $10 more than buying one part at a time. Great freaking video explanation though Felix! You nailed it.
This was VERY helpful! We had only ordered a heating element and were afraid that we needed the thermostat, too, but thanks to the note to check the element for breakage, we determined that was the problem. We actually cheered when we found the break! lol. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
This was exactly what I needed! Our dryer slowly stopped heating up and finally stopped completely this week. Managed to take apart the dryer as per the video. There were 2 extra screws behind my bottom bracket, but I managed to get them by reaching around the bracket with a small Phillips screwdriver. New heating element and thermostats installed and it’s working perfectly now!
This was very helpful. The “L” bracket holding the front of the coil had two machine screws attached to the back of the base, so no “wiggling” was ever going to release it. But you can feel around with your finger and get a small Phillips screwdriver in them and get them unscrewed. Also, the thermostat and coil wiring were not the “plug” type,so I took a photo of the wiring on the thermostats. But thank you… I saved a lot of money fixing my dryer.
I have the exact same model dryer and it stopped heating just before I left on vacation last week (oof). This video is a lifesaver, thank you SO much! TH-cam and DIY repair people for the WIN!! I am surprised at how inexpensive the replacement heater element and thermostat are too.
Excellent explanation! I followed your instructions and was able to remove the part... I even accidentally cut myself a little😅. I had to use another video near the end because I was replacing the entire heating assembly but this is exactly what I needed to get me near the finish line. THANK YOU!!! My model is a bit newer and the pedestal had screws in the back. It was easy to keep those in and push down/ flatten the pedestal enough to pull out the part, then push it back up when I was ready.
IMPORTANT NOTE: First, great video! Second, which one is bad? Both of those parts can be checked with a meter. If your meter has a continuity check, just disconnect the wires from the side of the heater box. Then check continuity across each part. If any of the 3 parts does not have continuity from the two sides of it, it is bad. In my dryer, the heating element had no continuity, so obviously bad. After you find a bad one, check the other 2 parts as well (just to order them at the same time if they are bad). If your meter doesn't have a continuity test, just test for ohms to see if they are connected internally or not. If not, they are bad. If you want to cheat, you can lay down the dryer on the front and pull out the exhaust tube that is in the dryer (one screw). You can reach in and pull the wires and check if you have continuity through the part. But you cannot replace the heating element this way, that has to be through the front. And as I said, great video explanation of how to do it. Oh, and you may have screws holding the back of the bracket under the heating element (mine does).
Thanks! This definitely worked. We fixed our dryer a year ago and it's still working perfectly. Just came back to share the video link with another person. Thank again!
FYI there are 2 screws behind the thing that holds the heating element up. you need a short screwdriver. I think you had them out from a previous repair. I didn't put them back. Very helpful video !! Thanks
Don’t know why your video wasn’t coming up first compared to all the other dumb ones. This was exactly what I needed. Thanks for taking the time to show the details. Only missing the ohms test which is a must when troubleshooting and replacing in the end!
I will enlighten you of the reason..... this guy does not use an ohm meter to test the heating element continuity or how to test the thermistor for proper functioning and diagnosis.....this gentlemen is an improvised handi man who goes around replacing parts guessing at what could be the problem....that's why....at best, he shows how to take the machine apart to reach the problem area.
H Max, I appreciate that his vid was this way bc if he had had some fancy ohm reading gadget, I would have thought it was past my skill set and not even attempted a self repair! I’m trying to fix the dryer myself rather than paying hundreds for someone else to do it. I love that he said “look and see if the coil is broken” and that that would be a good indicator of a heating element issue. If not, probably the thermostat. Very very very helpful video! Doesn’t need all the other bells and whistles you’re saying it’s missing.
I about broke my pedestal trying to get it out because he said just wiggle it around it will come out. Nope there are screws holding the back of it in.
Thank you for making this video! I was completely lost when my dryer broke. I ordered the parts and followed your instructions and my dryer is up and running again. I appreciate it!
Thanks for the video, it worked like a charm! Note: on ours, the pedestal that the heating element housing sits on had two screws in the back as well. Those were a pain to get out.
Just ran into that issue as well. I was so damn excited until I got to that. What did you use? Ratchet to reach behind? I’d imagine getting them back in will be even tougher? How did you handle?
I ordered the heating element and thermostat on Amazon and replaced it just like your video. Everything was just like you said, fast and easy. The heating element was what my dryer needed replaced, I went ahead n replaced all the parts that came with the kit. Thank you so much, I saved tons on doing this repair myself.
I Did the same. However, had a heck of a time with the putting tube back together. Do not use power screw driver it will strip the threads of the housing. If there is a next time I will be looking for the entire tube. This took me every bit of 2 hours more like 2-1/2.
I suggest buying a multimeter and checking all pieces for conductivity (thermostat, fuse, coil, etc.). I first replaced the thermostat based on this video without testing anything and that didn't fix it. Was going to buy the coil next but decided to purchase a multimeter to test. Sure enough the coil was fine (original thermostat was too) but the fuse was bad. Purchased the fuse and my dryer is back heating!
thank you so much for your video . i did everything you said and it came out perfect .and i saved 275, 00 $$$$ . you made me look like the man in my house . thanks again .
Brother I thank you from the bottom of my heart . . I bought the parts to fix it and just as you have shown it is very easy to do . . NOTE : I found that on my model the 2 screws on the top back didn't need to be removed as they were holding the hinges for the top LOL . . Have a Good day !
Thank you to Fix it Felix for this video! I ordered the kit referenced in the description and fixed my dryer last weekend. In my case the heating element coil had broken as referenced in the video. I went ahead and replaced the thermostat as well. One procedural note: My dryer had 2 difficult to reach screws on the back side of the base of the metal stand that supports the heating coil fixture. This is not shown in the video. (Perhaps a slight variation in models?) Took me 30 minutes to get those screws out. I had to lift up on the metal coil container (basically pushing it to touch the bottom of the drum and rotating it to the left) in order to get a thicker screwdriver for better torque grip. I recommend using the socket wrench he shows in the video.
Felix I can't thank you enough for this video. I had to use it atleast 4 times with my dryer. But all things must come to an end. I couldn't take it anymore and purchased a new washer dryer set haha. Thanks for the help!
I’m subscribing to your channel Felix! Love it. The thing you call a thermostat is a high limit switch in the heating and ac world. The “NC” on the label of the limit switch means normally closed. When the heating element reaches an unsafe temperature the limit switch will open the electrical circuit cutting power to the heat element. If your limit switch is a NC (normally closed) you can test it by checking for continuity with your multimeter across the leads. Same thing goes for your heating element. If you don’t get any resistance reading (OL on your meter) you have a broken element. It’s all about sharing the information. Thank you for taking the time to post this video brother.
I know your comment was almost a year ago, but if you check in…I replaced coil and thermostat and still don’t have any heat, so my question is (someone who is completely unknowledgeable on this stuff) I noticed the wires were different colors, would it matter which port I connected a wire to similar to car battery? Cause I didn’t notice any type of +/- symbol or indication that they had to go a certain way. Thanks *Felix not sure if you can see or read this, if so, would know happen to know incase this guy hasn’t signed on in over a year?
Note: My dryer was a newer or order version of the same model. I had 2 screws in the back, not the feet of the little stand that hold it up. After wiggling for a while I felt around and found the two screws. I was able to get them, even with my arthritis, by coming in with a stubby Philips from the right hand side. Maybe make this a top comment so that other people see it.
I ordered from the Amazon link you shared since my dryer is the same model and the 30ish dollar heating element was exactly what was wrong with mine! Plus the break was super obvious once I took it out! I loved how the order also came with other stuff like the thermostat so I can have just in case! Thank you soooo much! 🎉
Fixed mine, thank you! My dryer had four screws holding the sheet metal pillar that supports the heating element, instead of just two in the front. Also, the repair kit came with two parts I didn't use.
Felix, well done! Instructions were super clear and easy to follow. Same dryer, heating element was cracked and fixed it with the replacement kit in about 30 min. Thank you so much!
A suggestion on determining if it is a heating element or the thermostats. If you check continuity with an ohm meter and get a good signal, it is most likely the thermostats. Some may choose to replace both since your in there any way.
I replaced my Thermostat or thermo limit module. It was working fine for a month or so . now the same part is bad again. any suggestions or better part to purchase ?
Thank you Felix! The instructions were easy to follow, and the repair only took about an hour. You saved me $300 for a repair man, the parts only cost $35.
Thank you for this video! I had this issue and found out my heater core was split in one part. I ordered the kit and replaced all the parts and its back up and running like new. Thanks again!
This video helped me to fix it 3 months ago. I watched other videos, and they take everything down which makes it harder. Question: after 3 months, it is broken again. What would cause it to break it again?
Thanks Felix, I really liked the video! I suggest using an ohmmeter to check the continuity of the coil. Less work than inspecting, if you have the tool =)
Thank you Felix. I have a different model but the process was basically the same, my only 2 cents is when your taking the heater stand out to try and use to hands and lift back and up and maybe when your pulling the heater coils out that you may need to unscrew the ground.to get it out.
Thank you. I was able to diagnose the problem, I have the exact model. Tips for future viewers: 1. Unplug the power cord and have somebody like your wife or husband to double check. 2. Wear gloves, not latex but not too thick either. You will cut your self, Samsung does not play around. 3. You can actually check for continuity test before taking the unit out, check both ends of the spiral wire before they touch the connector, if you get no sound then it's broken, you can also check the black part for continuity by moving the unit around after unscrewing like 2 screws from the bracket. 3. The 2 screws from hell in the back of the bracket, do not wiggle the bracket after removing the 2 front screws, you will have 2 in the back, use a small Phillip's screw driver to get them out and move your hand slowly to avoid cutting yourself, move the unit to the left to get the screw on your right, or use one of those fat small screw drivers perfect for this job.
Thanks. It really help to show how to partially disassemble a Samsung dryer. Ours is working but making alot of noise. I am hoping all it needs is cleaning. Drum drive and belts seem to be OK.
Hi guys! if you find this video useful you can help the channel grow by donating , it don’t matter if it’s a small amount. Anything counts , link down below Thanks ^_^ www.paypal.com/paypalme2/FixitFelix529
This video has been great to get me through to this step but now how do I take the wires off of the housing to remove the heating element from the housing
Felix i think the dryer you worked on already had been taken apart because at 4:41 you show how to take out the support bracket taking out the three screws then "wiggling it out". When actually there are 5 screws holding it in. Two in the back that are almost impossible to get out without removing the drum.
This helped me so much was able to follow along as I watched the video and replaced the coil and both thermostats in the length of time it took to watch the video.
Felix I Am trying to fix my samsung dryer but it has threewires connecting the heater coils red -white-and blue. I lost the paper i wrote the order and now i cant find out where the wires go to save my sole . Does the white go on the bottom then the red then the blue or visa versa. If i just quess will my repairman days end.l am an ex computer nerd from the govt. and should know better.i have spent hours looking at other pictures but they all just have two wires. Have you seen 3 wires and what order they are in?Thanks for your great videos
Help! I replaced the coil and thermostat and now after a few mins it gives me a too hot warning. Any thoughts? Doesn’t seem to be any blockages or lint buildup.
I have that same dryer. It doesn't heat up. Had thermostat and coil checked twice at two different dealers, bought said was good. What esle could it be?
I thought I'd let you know this video helped me fix my dryer this past weekend. Your going on three year old video has probably helped thousands of people make this repair possible. Thank you.

As a single mom with no extra money to call a repair man, this video was a lifesaver! Thank you so much. 💜

If you're just replacing the thermostat just go through the back and it will be much quicker. Great vid - thanks
Not sure if my comment went through, but thank you for taking the time to do this video. Life safer! 🙏🏼
Happy to help. Your comment went through 😊
Finding this video gave me the confidence to fix my dryer. I cannot thank you enough!!!
I am so happy i helped you. You can help me by subscribing ^_^ thanks
Thank you for doing so many closeups throughout your video
Awesome. My dryer went out too. Ordered part and pretty confident in fixing it.
Excellent is all I can say step by step easy to understand.Well done
A suggestion on determining if it is a heating element or the thermostats. If you check continuity with an ohm meter and get a good signal, it is most likely the thermostats. Some may choose to replace both since your in there any way.
Thank you for the video, because of your video on how to fix Samsung dryer, it literally saved me $$$… much appreciated
Thank you for this awesome walk through! Helped diagnose my dryer, and ordered the part for it! So glad you made this video lol.
happy to help ^_^
I replaced my Thermostat or thermo limit module. It was working fine for a month or so . now the same part is bad again. any suggestions or better part to purchase ?
Used your video to replace the heating element. Thank you so much for the help🎉💃First appliance repair ever😄👍
I just fixed my dryer following your instructions! Thank you 😊
I am glad to hear 👍🏻
Bro you are the man! Thanks so much for the vid. Dryer repaired. Now I’m walking with my chest in the air lol.
Happy to help 😊 👍🏻
This is the second one on my dryer, thanks for the tutorial.
Excellent job, excellent video. You saved me from calling someone to fix it !!
This video helped me to fix it 3 months ago. I watched other videos, and they take everything down which makes it harder.

Thanks Felix, I really liked the video! I suggest using an ohmmeter to check the continuity of the coil. Less work than inspecting, if you have the tool =)
Do I have to have that exact same model number to follow these steps
Thank you Felix. I have a different model but the process was basically the same, my only 2 cents is when your taking the heater stand out to try and use to hands and lift back and up and maybe when your pulling the heater coils out that you may need to unscrew the ground.to get it out.
Thanks for this video. My dryer’s heater just stopped working and I found your tutorial. Ordered the parts from your link. Thanks again
Glad it helped
My problem was the heating element. Thank you felix for this easy video.
What a wonderful guy that helped allot couldn’t fix my drier without your help thank you Felix.
Thank you. I was able to diagnose the problem, I have the exact model.

We just fix our dryer and it was the heat element thank you so much for this video.

I am happy to help 😃
If you by chance reverse the blue and red wire, it shouldn't be a problem right? Since its just current flow or no?
Thank you for the detailed video. It helped me get my dryer working again.
Felix, Thank you for this informative video! We now have the same cut on the same finger and are blood brothers!
😆 happy to help. Take care of your hand. 👍🏻
Awesome video. Perfect explanation of what and how to change the heating element.
Thank you so much!!! I was able to fix my dryer alone thanks to your video!!
Thanks. It really help to show how to partially disassemble a Samsung dryer. Ours is working but making alot of noise. I am hoping all it needs is cleaning. Drum drive and belts seem to be OK.
Glad it helped
Thanks Felix!
My pleasure 😊
thanks for homing in on the wire connections. i wasnt detailed enough when i wrote mine down.
Keeping it simple, thank you, just ordered my parts to do the job with an extra band-aid or two.

How you get the clips out the plastic holder
This video just saved my butt.
Did you make a video replacing the heating element and the thermostat?
This video has been great to get me through to this step but now how do I take the wires off of the housing to remove the heating element from the housing
Don’t remove any wires. It’s only two little metal clips that disconnect the heating element.
Felix i think the dryer you worked on already had been taken apart because at 4:41 you show how to take out the support bracket taking out the three screws then "wiggling it out". When actually there are 5 screws holding it in. Two in the back that are almost impossible to get out without removing the drum.
Thankyou this looks simple I can do it!! Yayy tired of wasting money to dry my cloths now i can juz fix my dryer
You are so welcome!
