Hats off, so far the most honest YT review. For whatever reason the way you set this video makes the review feels genuine, no fancy bg music no over the top editing with flying or flowing fonts. It feels so refreshing seeing Honest reviews like this on TH-cam. I know tech vloggers has to flex how tech savvy they are that their videos has to be really fancy they tend to forget people watch honest reviews because they want to know how much of a crap a product is and if they can tolerate that crappy feature of that said product. You've reminded me in one of your videos some of the windows tweaks I used to do but forgot. I fixed up my dusty, forgotten laptop with that stuff and now works great!
Great job on the honest review. I got the the legion go to play on my bed. After working 10-12 hrs. I don't have the energy to sit on my desktop to play. I'm not expecting to take it to travel. But most of the time I use it with headphones since my wife or kids is sleeping. And I can't bare the sound. They really dropped the ball on the speakers. Lol
Same thing here, sometimes i dont feel like sitting at my desk so i recommend you Moonlight and Sunshine streaming on your main PC, That way, you can play games on max settings while streaming directly to your Legion Go with zero delay I've been enjoying all the great titles, letting my PC do all the heavy lifting hardware wise while I play on the coach or a play a bit before bed. Have my legion set on power saving mode and silent fans, cant get any better.
Man those are some weird problems you've had, even having to hard reset the device. I've had mine since launch so it's from the very first batches and over the months I've had many settings adjustments done by following endless YT videos to finally feel more like a console experience. Top tips: 1. Disable Windows login you'll boot straight in. 2. Install Playnite and make it open in fullscreen mode on startup. 3. Keep it running on 6GB VRAM, it's the best balance. 3. Install Lossless Scaling, it really helps boost FPS on screen with AAA games and PS3 emulation.
As a former owner of the Ally x. Yes the ally x has better software, better audio, better battery. But the legion go even with all of its misses still came out on top. A 2K tablet when you’re not gaming. Removable joy cons are great. The screen immerses me so much while gaming. The Ally x doesn’t have a small screen it just didn’t immerse me into the game like the Lenovo Go. I have a better gaming experience. The Lenovo Go has a kickstand. So I’ve used it to play smash brothers with friends and Bluetooth controllers. Kickstand is a great feature especially for an office environment. The ally x can only be used in your hand’s unfortunately. For the power, I usually keep it as plugged in at work, and on the go I don’t really need 5-6 hours of battery life but I do have a power bank in case I do. The ROG ally x is superior, but the Lenovo Gos charm is what made me decide. More immersive, while also replacing my IPad Pro. It’s a win.
Thanks. Another informative video. Legion Go is my go to because it immerses me in the game. As someone with a Desktop (3080Ti) and a PS5, I found my best use case to be using the Legion Go at home (also, right by my bed) with Steam Remote Play and PSPlay App. Both work great with seemingly no lag and I can take advantage of the full resolution, the 144 hertz, and no fan noise. It's kind of like a super PS Portal with a bigger, better display that can play your PS5, PC, Xbox and downloaded games for when you are on the road. If you have all the devices, I recommend you try it out.
I love mine. On it right now as a second display while at work. Its very portable. Detach joycons and put the main device in an iPad sleeve. Put controllers in a small portable battery case.
same just add some eq and theyre just average which is perfectly fine by me. out of the box its horrible just like in the video. weird they havent fixed it since its just driver stuff.
Debloating windows on my Legion Go has cut down a lot of back ground processing which did lead to lower temps. Pretty happy being able to play ff14 @ 60 fps with 44c-48c with smart fans enabled and 35c-38c with full fans enabled (playing with headphones anyways)
How do you debloat? I deleted what I could, but I don't know very much about PCs so there's still a lot of stuff I didn't mess with because I don't know if it needs to be on there or not
@@josephhall7317 It's a bit late but I recommend "How to debloat windows" on google and reading what most people delete. Don't install some software that debloats it for you, as it also delets some necessary software for the handheld most of the time too. Only delete what you're 100% is bloat (like onedrive, office, stuff like that). You can reinstall it later too, so don't worry too much about it.
Yo, I figured out the audio issue, at least in my case. Audio enhancements in the speaker properties was set by default to "device default effects". Turn that off and it makes a huge difference! Thank you for the video!
Solid review. The thing that people don't quite get though, is that while its not as portable as the rog ally or steam deck, it is still made to be a portable gaming device. Planes, travel, etc... It's not meant for solely the bedside. Compared to rog ally, its bigger sure, but compared to a gaming laptop? Naw. I wish I could enjoy the rog ally, I have had both iterations and sent back the X. The screen size is just a game changer and I would hands down take the legion go with a battery bank attached to the back every day of the week whether its in bed, or travel. Keep up the good work boss!
Honestly, this is a great video! Love all the information, and honest real life takes you have on this device, it's a breath of fresh air. some tiny nitpicks that might make your next video jussssst _that_ much better... I think a bit of color correction to get rid of the "White film" effect would do you wonders. The editing is great, good timing cuts, decent microphone quality, good camera quality, I think just color correction and maybe some more background music would really pop. Seems like the music stopped right at 3:16 and then it's _just_ your voice and the background noise... which isn't terrible, but y'know, the little things ;)
It’s awesome. Set windows audio to club and install fx sounds to up the audio it will be a lot better. Also listen to this guys page. He recommended lossless scaling to up FPS and it works great. $6.99 on steam so worth it

Had mine for 6 months now. Love it. Especially where I have little time to game with the baby. Only complaints really are the external speakers, legion space/quick menu is a bit laggy, needs some work. Otherwise? This thing is a monster for a handheld. Can’t wait to see what they do for the next iteration. Would love to see OLED, or VRR since you can’t really make use of the high resolution anyways. I can’t really tell a difference between 1200p and 1600p with an 8 inch display. Pair that with a better battery, and I think it’ll rule the next gen of handhelds.

Yes LOVE LOVE LOVE my LLG, you are super correct on saying it is the most immersive handheld of course as mentioned once you connect headphones. Battery could be better but you get a battery pack its all good. I think your doing great on your videos man and ive read more than a few times that folks think you got a pretty relaxing voice and i gotta agree you do got a pretty relaxing voice lol but yeah man love my LLG.

I’ve only had mine for a week! I love it, I have zero complaints about it. I only game at home and while traveling. I no longer have to go I. My you room to play PS5 or Xbox. I play my games from comfort of my bed. I got my legion go when I was in NYC last Wednesday. I’ll be traveling again next month and can’t wait to use it. Also I’m going to Thailand, going to take almost 1 day to get there. I hope the legion and switch holds up.

I’ve had the steamdeck, ally and legion go and the legion go easily clears. Best resolution, performance and native windows . I also have total tech so if anything ever goes wrong with the dust or heat I’m chilling

Its weird i got the allyx and played with it non stop since, but then i went back to the go and the screen is just so good for gaming even with no vrr.

I just recently changed the options for the power button from sleep to hibernate and it's such a relief to be able to turn it back on and pick up where you left off. having to turn it off completely and launch everything all over again was a pain but because putting in sleep still drained battery but with hibernation it drains little to none. It still boots up when you turn back on from hibernation but it's slightly faster.

I returned the ally x because of qc issues and I’ve been much happier with the legion go. The screen size and detachable controllers are badass. As a full time worker this device is perfect for me.
Hm, well even if that’s true I’m very happy with the handheld. Like cyber said it immerses you a lot more with the screen size. I really love the detachable controllers and screen. I’ve not regretted it at all.
@@thejustinjustin1233 I agree I have a legion go as well, and a steamdeck I think the legion go is currently the best handheld gaming device on the market. The screen is beautiful and it’s surprisingly capable and very sturdy. Thing feels like a tank. I was more so saying people early on tended to have issues with it, like getting very rattley speakers or wobbly controllers. I’ve personally never had a single problem with my legion and the controllers attach so tight you would think they were a part of the device if I didn’t pull them off. Using some upscaling you can get absolutely incredible performance compared to my steam deck
@@thejustinjustin1233 I could see why someone would want the rog ally x, with its equal performance to the legion go and even better battery life than the steam deck, and extra ram, but I couldn’t see any good reason to buy the base ally, with the legion go having a better bigger display, replaceable controllers if they break, and just as good battery life as the rog ally extreme, the legion is hands down the winner of that battle assuming they keep the pricing they have now. Legion space used to be a problem because the rog had much better softwar, but legion space has come such a long way and it’s really solid all around now.
Legion Go is still my main device , because of the versatility with the controllers, I did play the with the realtek settings and also installed the eq from the Microsoft store so audio is decent now, installed different thumb stick modules for tighter sticks and taller thunbsrick grips so it's solid for handheld gaming.
Keep it like this!!! No fancy lights no avoiding truth. You look like a kid from 80s and befriended with Tony Hawk :) in a good way I mean. Keep it up!

Really love your reviews. I love yours in comparison to a lot of different reviewers because yours feels more "casual" it really feels like hearing someones genuine review and thoughts about a device. Only feedback I would say is try not to add random cuts to different segments like at 2:56. I would say put those towards the start or end of the video, but the rest is really good. Amazing review, keep up the good work. :)
Wishlist wise (software aside) Better Ergonomics on the bottom of the TrueStike Controllers and Metal inserts to click into the rails to avoid premature wear and the notorious wiggling. Better Battery Life, Speakers, RAM and an OLED Display with VRR. That would make it a solid device.
It's the best handheld hands down .. when it's all said and done and all the hype from the ally X goes down the legio go screen will remain the biggest difference, and regarding battery you can always use a power bank . Detachable controllers are also such a great feature
I went for the rog ally instead of the lego because of portability. Weight didn't seem like an issue to me at first, because those things seem fairly small and lightweight via video. But when it arrived I was shocked at how heavy the rog ally is. It's not really heavy, but you can definitely feel the weight and anything past that would definitely be uncomfortable for me. I also have small hands, so it feels like the perfect size. I would've liked if the black borders of the screen were as slim as possible, but I'm sure they're working on that. I definitely recommend people to go check them in store and have a feel, cause the weight/feel isn't that talked about compared to performance/features.

Thanks for the awesome review this is by far the best and most realistic one ive seen so far. Im still on the fence between this and the ally x. The battery on the ally is unmatched but the flexibility on the legion fits me a lot more. I think im gonna go with the ally x. What you daid about the legion go staying on the bed and not as mobile males alot of sense.
this is the most versatile handheld. love that it can become tablet and pc with mouse. they need to upgrade those versatile features and add front,back camera and better battery
The speakers on both my and my son's Legion Go (Which you made us purchase, and we don't regret it one bit) are awful. I hope so much that Lenovo do an Asus Rog X situation and upgrade the speakers. I would go nuts for it.
I love my legion go. I agree 100% with you, too. You literally have to tinker every setting to your liking Speakers crap You literally have to clean the fan once a month cause everything sticks to that thing 😭 The only thing i really dislike about the Go is to truly get the performance out of it you have to have it always plugged in, like the ally to unlock 30w mode. So getting a battery bank is a must
Mine’s perfect for my situation, I’m a trucker and having this in the truck is a game changer. I keep mine on turbo mode all the time, it stays plugged in a lot, and I shut it off when I’m not using it which mitigates a lot of issues. Software’s wonky, but for what I ask of it I can’t complain, it’s better than the alternative plus I got mine from micro center with an upgraded ssd so mine has 2T of internal storage plus a 1T micro sd, I have more storage space than any other device without having to mod it myself. I refuse to touch the rog ally, the issues with asus makes the device nonviable since if something breaks the device effectively becomes a brick unless I fix it myself. I have found the go won’t do big triple A games like black myth wukong, I got really bad screen tearing and lag issues while playing and just couldn’t do it, works on everything else though.
I could be wrong but the LegionGo has the best temps out of all the other handhelds atm. And for the fan yes it does get dirty after awhile and maybe even more then other handhelds. But that's the trade off for better temps and that's just something we gotta get used too for all these new handhelds. They are packing big power so they need ventilation and beefy fans which draw more dust. And for the dirty fan I rather clean it more regularly and have the best temps for the system for longevity.
I have the Legion Go and it is not perfect but like it. Legion Space is okay but could do with a lot of improvements. You can create custom modes, but I just wish you could switch between power modes a lot easier. The ergonomics are not great and holding it uncomfortable, getting comfort grips is a must. It’s not very portable, like you, I rarely use it unplugged from the mains. The 16:10 resolution and screen size is amazing especially with retro emulation. Its powerful enough for what I need and streaming from my main PC is great. I hope with the recent rumours of new devices, Lenovo will make improvement to the Legion Go app.
The point I pick Legion Go is I can take off the gamepads/controller and it turn into a very neat looking tablet run Win11, also it powerful enough to play any video game I want.
EVERYONE!!! If you don’t like your speakers, change the EQ in Realtek Audio Console!!! The default “powerful” preset is horrific and change it to anything else and it sounds a bazillion times better! I have ZERO complaints with the legion go speakers after tweaking the EQ, and if you don’t wanna tweak the EQ manually just change it to the “vocal” preset, most seem to like that
You have to update the audio drivers on the Legion Go. They still wont blow you away, definitely a much better improvement over how it comes from factory.

If you untick the enhanced audio setting in the audio settings properties the speakers will sound 100 times better thats how i fixed my LEGO speakers
It doesnt fix them, it just makes them not as bad. Still are by far the worst handheld speakers out there.

To improve the sound, just go to settings, equalization, create a custom profile and put all the bars up. Save. 100% better and lounder sound.

Had mine for 6 months now. Love it. Especially where I have little time to game with the baby. Only complaints really are the external speakers, legion space/quick menu is a bit laggy, needs some work. Otherwise? This thing is a monster for a handheld.
Can’t wait to see what they do for the next iteration. Would love to see OLED, or VRR since you can’t really make use of the high resolution anyways. I can’t really tell a difference between 1200p and 1600p with an 8 inch display. Pair that with a better battery, and I think it’ll rule the next gen of handhelds.

Yes LOVE LOVE LOVE my LLG, you are super correct on saying it is the most immersive handheld of course as mentioned once you connect headphones. Battery could be better but you get a battery pack its all good. I’ve only had mine for a week! I love it, I have zero complaints about it. I only game at home and while traveling. I no longer have to go I. My you room to play PS5 or Xbox. I play my games from comfort of my bed. I got my legion go when I was in NYC last Wednesday. I’ll be traveling again next month and can’t wait to use it. Also I’m going to Thailand, going to take almost 1 day to get there. I hope the legion and switch holds up.

I’ve had the steamdeck, ally and legion go and the legion go easily clears. Best resolution, performance and native windows . I also have total tech so if anything ever goes wrong with the dust or heat I’m chilling

Its weird i got the allyx and played with it non stop since, but then i went back to the go and the screen is just so good for gaming even with no vrr.
It's the bezels. They look awful. Even worse on such a small display. 8 inch handhelds absolutely need to become the standard.
I think the screen is ok on the Go. I prefer the display on the Ally X

I just recently changed the options for the power button from sleep to hibernate and it's such a relief to be able to turn it back on and pick up where you left off. having to turn it off completely and launch everything all over again was a pain but because putting in sleep still drained battery but with hibernation it drains little to none. It still boots up when you turn back on from hibernation but it's slightly faster.

I returned the ally x because of qc issues and I’ve been much happier with the legion go. The screen size and detachable controllers are badass. As a full time worker this device is perfect for me.
Typically the ally is considered to have better qc than the legion go. I still prefer the go but just saying
Hm, well even if that’s true I’m very happy with the handheld. Like cyber said it immerses you a lot more with the screen size. I really love the detachable controllers and screen. I’ve not regretted it at all.
@@thejustinjustin1233 I agree I have a legion go as well, and a steamdeck I think the legion go is currently the best handheld gaming device on the market. The screen is beautiful and it’s surprisingly capable and very sturdy. Thing feels like a tank. I was more so saying people early on tended to have issues with it, like getting very rattley speakers or wobbly controllers. I’ve personally never had a single problem with my legion and the controllers attach so tight you would think they were a part of the device if I didn’t pull them off. Using some upscaling you can get absolutely incredible performance compared to my steam deck
@@thejustinjustin1233 I could see why someone would want the rog ally x, with its equal performance to the legion go and even better battery life than the steam deck, and extra ram, but I couldn’t see any good reason to buy the base ally, with the legion go having a better bigger display, replaceable controllers if they break, and just as good battery life as the rog ally extreme, the legion is hands down the winner of that battle assuming they keep the pricing they have now. Legion space used to be a problem because the rog had much better softwar, but legion space has come such a long way and it’s really solid all around now.

Legion Go is still my main device , because of the versatility with the controllers, I did play the with the realtek settings and also installed the eq from the Microsoft store so audio is decent now, installed different thumb stick modules for tighter sticks and taller thunbsrick grips so it's solid for handheld gaming.

Really love your reviews. I love yours in comparison to a lot of different reviewers because yours feels more "casual" it really feels like hearing someones genuine review and thoughts about a device. Only feedback I would say is try not to add random cuts to different segments like at 2:56. I would say put those towards the start or end of the video, but the rest is really good. Amazing review, keep up the good work. :)

Wishlist wise (software aside) Better Ergonomics on the bottom of the TrueStike Controllers and Metal inserts to click into the rails to avoid premature wear and the notorious wiggling. Better Battery Life, Speakers, RAM and an OLED Display with VRR. That would make it a solid device.

It's the best handheld hands down .. when it's all said and done and all the hype from the ally X goes down the legio go screen will remain the biggest difference, and regarding battery you can always use a power bank .
Detachable controllers are also such a great feature
Xreal glasses Gen1 as my secandary screen(s) option. Also has speakers inside glasses for a boost in sound quality.

I went for the rog ally instead of the lego because of portability. Weight didn't seem like an issue to me at first, because those things seem fairly small and lightweight via video. But when it arrived I was shocked at how heavy the rog ally is. It's not really heavy, but you can definitely feel the weight and anything past that would definitely be uncomfortable for me. I also have small hands, so it feels like the perfect size. I would've liked if the black borders of the screen were as slim as possible, but I'm sure they're working on that. I definitely recommend people to go check them in store and have a feel, cause the weight/feel isn't that talked about compared to performance/features.

Thanks for the awesome review this is by far the best and most realistic one ive seen so far. Im still on the fence between this and the ally x. The battery on the ally is unmatched but the flexibility on the legion fits me a lot more. I think im gonna go with the ally x. What you daid about the legion go staying on the bed and not as mobile males alot of sense.
this is the most versatile handheld. love that it can become tablet and pc with mouse. they need to upgrade those versatile features and add front,back camera and better battery

The speakers on both my and my son's Legion Go (Which you made us purchase, and we don't regret it one bit) are awful. I hope so much that Lenovo do an Asus Rog X situation and upgrade the speakers. I would go nuts for it.

The only thing i really dislike about the Go is to truly get the performance out of it you have to have it always plugged in, like the ally to unlock 30w mode. So getting a battery bank is a must

Mine’s perfect for my situation, I’m a trucker and having this in the truck is a game changer. I keep mine on turbo mode all the time, it stays plugged in a lot, and I shut it off when I’m not using it which mitigates a lot of issues. Software’s wonky, but for what I ask of it I can’t complain, it’s better than the alternative plus I got mine from micro center with an upgraded ssd so mine has 2T of internal storage plus a 1T micro sd, I have more storage space than any other device without having to mod it myself. I refuse to touch the rog ally, the issues with asus makes the device nonviable since if something breaks the device effectively becomes a brick unless I fix it myself. I have found the go won’t do big triple A games like black myth wukong, I got really bad screen tearing and lag issues while playing and just couldn’t do it, works on everything else though.
I could be wrong but the LegionGo has the best temps out of all the other handhelds atm. And for the fan yes it does get dirty after awhile and maybe even more then other handhelds. But that's the trade off for better temps and that's just something we gotta get used too for all these new handhelds. They are packing big power so they need ventilation and beefy fans which draw more dust. And for the dirty fan I rather clean it more regularly and have the best temps for the system for longevity.

Got my LeGo for $499 on sale and boy am I happy with it over the Steam Deck. I can actually play PC Game Pass games which is awesome.

I have the Legion Go and it is not perfect but like it. Legion Space is okay but could do with a lot of improvements. You can create custom modes, but I just wish you could switch between power modes a lot easier. The ergonomics are not great and holding it uncomfortable, getting comfort grips is a must. It’s not very portable, like you, I rarely use it unplugged from the mains. The 16:10 resolution and screen size is amazing especially with retro emulation. Its powerful enough for what I need and streaming from my main PC is great. I hope with the recent rumours of new devices, Lenovo will make improvement to the Legion Go app.

The point I pick Legion Go is I can take off the gamepads/controller and it turn into a very neat looking tablet run Win11, also it powerful enough to play any video game I want.

If you don’t like your speakers, change the EQ in Realtek Audio Console!!! The default “powerful” preset is horrific and change it to anything else and it sounds a bazillion times better! I have ZERO complaints with the legion go speakers after tweaking the EQ, and if you don’t wanna tweak the EQ manually just change it to the “vocal” preset, most seem to like that
You have to update the audio drivers on the Legion Go. They still wont blow you away, definitely a much better improvement over how it comes from factory.
