  • So I decided to work on my trigger, and found a few things that needed addressing. So, why not do a video? Not the greatest quality, but you all get the point. If you want a Challenger Pro or any AEA rifle, look no further than The Pellet Shop. Bin and Leticia will get you set-up.

    Some of those parts you polished looked like they were possibly made on a wire EDM. I could be wrong and they just had a sandblasted finish. I'd be really shocked / kinda impressed if they're making parts on an EDM.

    • @Monkeydad1969
      @Monkeydad1969  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The trigger polish came out good. I also bought trigger return springs that match the stock spring. Then I cut it down to shorter length, that still would engage the trigger. It is about 1lb on the trigger pull. I can do a step-by-step, but all my Challenger Pros are in Kansas and I'm in Colorado---gotta keep my job...lol

  • @awilde8453
    @awilde8453 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just be careful to check the functionality of your safety after adjusting that grub screw behind the trigger. If it's not set right the safety doesn't properly engage and it will fire when you pull the trigger even with the engagement showing safe. It's got a pretty narrow range of adjustment that it allows between the safety not working and the trigger itself not working.

I'm with you on leaving the fill probe in, but you should have a KapMan on it. It would look better and might help tighten groups🤣I happen to know someone tho can swage .2175, but he only does it for good friends:'). looking forward to the next video.

      Just polish the sear and hammer and if you want to lighten the trigger pull you can cut a coil or two off the stock spring or take it to the hardware store and find a lighter spring close to it's diameter. Don't get a really light spring or you may not be able to get it to cock. I got a slightly lighter spring, cut off 2 coils and now my trigger pull is about 11oz. Also, polishing the hammer may seem useless since it rides the hammer guide and not the tube, but the sear does engage the hammer and it does smooth up the actual trigger pull. I bought my spring from Ace Hardware and it's item# 71XA. I hope this helps.

    How about doing a video where you put it back together? Everything looks pretty straight forward but was wondering if there is anything that could be a potential problem. Mine currently has over a 5 lb trigger pull and it’s very gritty.

    • @Monkeydad1969
      @Monkeydad1969  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought about that, but I won't do a vid showing a disassembly or reassembly. That's just something I don't want to do, and then have someone complain to me that they tried to take it apart and or put it back together and now they're rifle is crap. Just a personal decision.

      @@Monkeydad1969 😵‍💫how does the tube separate from the trigger? cocking lever roll pin fell out and the trigger needs to be polished. do I need to remove the trigger pivot pin or reach inside that spring on the transfer bar? May I just have to remove the big allen screw from the block by the trigger?

    • @Monkeydad1969
      @Monkeydad1969  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wushigung take out the 5mm socket screws and the small screw at the rear. The whole assembly will come off. You want to polish the sear and hammer. Maybe get a lighter trigger spring. Once you have it off you can put the pin back in place. Putting it back together is a lil rough. You need to make sure the spring stays in place. You can recess the sear by pulling the catch forward with a pick all while pushing down in the sear. This will keep the spring in place and help you put the assembly back in the tube.

    Okay you deconstructed the entire rifle. I am trying to bore my 30 cal so I can get the right size slugs. You never took the barrel from the upper or the breach. Be disconnected?

    • @Monkeydad1969
      @Monkeydad1969  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remove the end cap and shroud. You'll see 2 flats on the barrel closer to the breech. That's where you use a wrench to unscrew the barrel from the breech. The nut on the barrel at the breech is to adjust the barrel depth at the mag well...to make sure that the mag slides into place and isn't loose fitting or super tight as to prevent the mag from being hard to insert or not being able to insert it at all. So once you get your bore diameter and put the barrel and breech together again you'll want to screw the barrel back in, then check the mag for proper fit. If you need to adjust the barrel then you use that nut on the barrel to set the proper depth. If you need a vid let me know.

      For the life of me I can't remember. But when you do tear into your rifle polish the hammer and the sear please. You'll thank me later. Also think about finding a softer spring the same diameter and length of the original trigger return spring and install that. I have also gone as far as to again getting a softer trigger return spring and cutting two coils off of it so that it is two coils shorter than the stock trigger return spring and my 30 caliber is just over a pound now in trigger pull. My 22 caliber I just polished the parts I have not replaced the trigger return spring yet but with that and me using it the trigger pulls down to just over 2 lb.
