Hi , Welcome to Singapore. Lau Pa Sat is actually directly translated from Hokkien , a dialect meaning Lau = Old n Pa Sat = Market. Enjoy Singapore Cheers

    • @Zz7722zZ

Pa Sat is actually derived from Pasar in Malay, so it's both Hokkien and Malay in origin.

To be honest, I have lived in London for over a year in Canary Wharf with my partner and there are many things in Singapore which are cheaper than London. Transportation is very expensive in the UK and food wise, you can get a decent meal for like SGD 3 which is like less than GBP 2. I don't think you can find in the UK. Also for coffee, try the local Kopi (coffee in local Hokkien dialect) and costs like SGD 1ish.

You came at a good time, because even though it's the rainy season, keeping you nice and cool with those cloudy skies, it didn't actually rain, as it would have lasted hours, ruining your day. I guess the weather made nice for your birthday!

Lau Pasat is a Chinese Hokkien Dialect literally meaning 'Old Market'. It used to be a 'wet' market selling meat, fish and vegetables, and located right in the middle of Singapore's financial district. Hence, it is probably more lucrative to turn it into a food court.

I see that u spent most of yr time in the Central Business District. Perhaps next time u come, try to avoid the more expensive downtown spots where prices are understably more "expensive". It is a small artificial box with low-cost employees from poor Asian countries of surrounding real countries. After this, we should see that high QIs, are served by the lows ones. Happiness should be from within you n not rely on the exterior to determine your happiness...maybe thought they can be happy by buying a big car or a nice expensive watch but after a while, they are back to feeling down again

.........i'm a Singaporean and trust me......nothing to see or do here.............the weather is shitty too (hot and humid or non-stop rain).................don't waste your money coming here................and least of all - a terrible place to live in unless you're really rich.............

@@SkyeSamuels Just ignore this Malaysian, he and his country's people just want every tourist to say bad things about Singapore because they are full of jealousy with Singapore.
