  • Blacks in Fiji can trace their roots for thousands of years back to the Lake Tanganyika area in East Africa.
    Lake Tanganyika is an African Great Lake. It is the second-oldest freshwater lake in the world, the second-largest by volume, and the second-deepest, in all cases after Lake Baikal in Siberia. It is the world's longest freshwater lake. The lake is shared between four countries-Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Burundi, and Zambia, with Tanzania (46%) and DRC (40%) possessing the majority of the lake. It drains into the Congo River system and ultimately into the Atlantic Ocean.

    • @ElimanGibba
      @ElimanGibba 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Tui Kupp You missed the point completely . What was said in the video by Fijians & what was told to us in 2003 are consistent & accurate . I suppose you don’t want to hear it but if some Fijians claim their Descendants ( trace their Roots ) came from Africa , why is that an issue for ? I don’t recall hearing anyone claiming that Fijians of African Ancestry were the first Settlers. Further more nobody is claiming to be an Archaeologist ,I suggest you cool down your rough language man. Love & Peace

    • @ElimanGibba
      @ElimanGibba 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tui Kupp What is the misinformation ? Do you deny what you hear in the video ? Do you also deny what we heard ? Isn’t it true that some Fijians of African ancestry believe that hey are originally from Africa ! I am not sure how your condescending tone is educative at all but rather simply rude ! During our 3 week visit ,whenever I was asked where I am from ,my answer is always born in Senegal raised in Gambia & it will break the ice then the narrative will change to the link to Africa. That happened constantly, if you truly want to fight #Misinformation start in Fiji ,with our brothers and sisters there ,I am sure it won’t go well because they feel a sense of belonging & something big….. Africa. That is what you have a problem with but that is your issue !

    • @ElimanGibba
      @ElimanGibba 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Tui Kupp You are not educating me , i have traveled the world and talked to people about Life & things. I was merely echoing the general sentiment about the African connection expressed to my wife and I in Fiji by Fijians. For you to call that misinformation is a bit too far & rich. The way you began the conversation/text/reply indicated to me that you want to fight ! I don’t have appetite for any exchange that begins with “Bull” & i can now see that in your mind you think you are a Teacher. You are probably one & good at it but ,that is not the question here or the premise of this video presentation . It is an African Brother Learning about the Beautiful Fijian Culture ….Talk to him ! Go to Fiji & work on your fight against #Misinformation. I am confident it will go well for you ! I everywhere we traveled people with make a connection to Africa in one way or another, I am sure you will have a problem with too right ? Why are you offended or mad about what they believe & claimed to be passed down ? Have a great week & all the best to you !

    • @mteokay1246
      @mteokay1246 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tui Kupp and Melanesians and Austronesians just popped up from nowhere ? You realize that latest studies have confirmed that Australian aborigines came straight out of Africa to Australia in the First Wave out of Africa migration. I'm sure Melanesians are as well, unlike the Polynesians who came from South East Asia.

    • @ElimanGibba
      @ElimanGibba 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Tui Kupp Tell that to the Fijians who are expressing their Oral History as told to them . It is not Scientific but I suppose Polynesian Oral History & Myths falls in the same category ? By the way you have not answered my questions. Again , you sounding very condescending “Educate yourself “ in the knowledge of Science sounds like you invented science & I am pretty sure that is not the case.

    Fijians are the tribe of Judah. The Tanganyika theory was a plot to hide their identity by the British government for whatever reason. There are Fijians who know what others do not, especially the highlanders who live in the remote mountainous areas of the country. Perhaps a great place to visit would be Namosi.A very close friend of mine, Fijian from Nadroga had asked a college student who's from Namosi if he had heard of Fijians being the tribe of Judah. The reply kind of shocked him.He replied,, Yes,, it has been passed down to us by our ancestors through generations that they came from the land of Israel.

      Rugby is our national sport so we should know anyways, especially when that was the same year in 1995 where we didn't even qualify for the world cup in South Africa hence Ivory Coast being there because they qualified once.

    Thanks Sid for bringing Fiji to us. Awesome! Btw your guide is very strict, although maybe she could be right. I'm not sure about Fiji but some societies discipline individuals and families by ostracising them from the community and sending them away indefinitely, if they commit a serious crime against the customs and traditional norms and values of the community. Some believe it is an indirect and voluntary form of population control when there is overcrowding, famine or disease.

Europeans with their stupidity initially gave all the black people there different names, trying to confuse them and the world that they're not blacks but it didn't work. These fijians and Africans knew this history long before Europeans. The Europeans did the same shit in Africa trying to divide us...Calling some blacks Bantu, Nilos, Cushitic, San just to say we're different blacks and that too didn't work. @@sonnytulavu9656.well, I think Ur grandfather has a made-up story or his from lapita family. Lutunasobasoba destroyed all lapitas from the west in the old days. That's why we got this two powerful man in Fiji call Udreudre and Navosavakadua. Your people trying to kill them but they got no power. Ratu cakobau was kicked out from the west by Navosavakadua, and the cnt pis off and went all the way to British for help. And from there we from the west we know that he went there 4 three reason.(1) get the palagi to kill our chiefs (2) to take our land.(3) to change our identity. Our history sold by Ratu Cakobau to British and that's why this palagi garret said we not from Africa. Ratu Cakobau was trying to overpowered the west but he couldn't. So he ask the British to kill our chiefs and hide our ancestors identity. But I tell you what? He didn't even kill our chiefs, and no one will ever ever destroyed our identity. We are African.

    This is outstanding content. I wonder if African disdain for camera is due to mistrust of motive arising from colonialism? It is interesting that Fijians are so open to filming and documenting, perhaps because their heritage is not one of imperialism, colonialism and having been exploited? Just wondering....it seems that cultures that have not been severed are far more trusting. Your vlogging is exceptional, sir!

      We may have been exploited, but the British eventually left us alone to do our own thing unlike in other colonies. You can see that in our mannerisms and politeness and even picked up the British pastime of tea that we even offer tea to others as they pass by the villages and houses.
