I moved to New Zealand when I was 10 years old from Fiji and the most memorable taste I can remember is the cream buns! Even when you were eating that bun, it takes me right back and I can imagine the taste in my mouth haha! Cream buns in New Zealand don't even compare.......
Rou rou, pronounced row row.... Taste nothing like spinach artichoke dip! Rou rou, made with coconut milk has a mildly sweet savory taste! Similiar to palusami
Love and miss all the yummy Fijian fresh seafood! Left Fiji almost 40yrs ago and we are blessed to get a lot of the Fijian groceries and seafood in Canada but nothing beats that fresh seafood! Thanks for the video!

Very nicely done video. Glad to see you enjoying all Fiji has to offer. Fiji is like my second home and love watching videos of people appreciating the small island of Fiji

Thanks for the video! It inspired us to try Cocoda even though you didn't like it 😀 It was fabulous trip to Fiji with 7 nights cruise with Captain Cook Cruises, very cool to see multiple islands. 💦🌴🌺🥥
Wow great to see adventurous people in Fiji trying the lovely food, my mum makes the best kokoda. It's not really raw but the citric acid cooks it a bit.
I was born in fiji but been living in sydney for the past 22 years. But i always go back for a visit every opportunity i get. Hope you guys do go back for a visit sometime in the future and spend bit more time there and travel around the country. And while doing that, try some more fiji cuisines/dishes. Less restaurant cooked food and more home cooked style food. They are even more delicious.
Oh yes, she says she cooks more indian dishes than native dishes. Hopefully youse can try some fiji style indian dishes. What you guys tried at the indian restaurant was more the india style dishes. The fiji indian style cooking is a bit different. Anyways, looking forward to watching your other videos. And all the best with your future travels.
Sorry guys, but as someone who has lived in Fiji for over 6 years now, you did not taste Fiji "street food". The cream buns are great for sure, no argument there, but hardly qualify as street food. Kokoda, also known ceviche, is originally from Peru. That is hardly street food level rourou, and I have only seen it prepared that way in restaurants and weddings. During the daytime in the city you can find fresh pineapple and fruit juice from vendors at the market throughout the day. Go to Suva and you will find many evening vendor selling actual street food like hotdogs, really great variants on Hamburgers, and the ever popular and famous Fijian barbecue! How can you call this a video on Fiji's street food without even mentioning the BBQ? Every Fijian fundraiser sells barbecue and at night all over the country you can find vendors selling BBQ with cassava and salad. Misleading title, you might as well have just labeled the vid, "Watch us go to one restaurant and buy some stuff from the Hot Bread". This does not reflect in any way Fijian street food.
Second your opion bro. Would have the couple to have travel to Suva and check out the BBQ vendors. I'm sure they would have love it. Maybe next time, but I appreciate you both for checking out Fiji, my island home. Wishing you both safe travels around the globe. Moce mada.
Yeah this hardly Street Food... There are Street food here in Fiji and they taste ok but yeah BBQ is great and is Street food for us but with the origin of Kokoda...I'm not sure but we don't really know where exactly Fijians got it from..lol...but we've made it our own 😂😊
God bless you guys. Happy and safe travels. This video brought back memories, so 'Vinaka vakalevu'. Street food you can get at Suva market and maybe other major markets such as the one in Nausori. Also, if you drive through the major highways, you can pick up food items at stalls along the roadside. Not sure if that's still a thing though, as I heard no rules regarding street side stalls are in place.
THE INDIAN FOODS IN TRINIDAD ARE A WIDE VARIETY.WE KNOW CURRY AND GEERA.WE KNOW DHAL PURI AND CURRY GOAT AND CURRY ALOO AND CHANNA.AND BARRA AND CHANNA.AND GEERA PORK AND PHOULOURIE AND ALOO PIE AND ROTI AND KITCHOURIE.THERE ARE SO MANY INDIAN FOODS.
After watching a few of your vids and looking into you guys online, I have to admit that I am disappointed in that you're no longer making videos. I thought that you all's videos were really awesome. I think that TH-camrs can be very successful and make lots of money, and I wonder were you guys got off to.
MOST probable thing is they simply BROKE UP... Many relationships end that way, some of my favorite TH-cam channels ended that way since I started watching in 2006!!
its quite obvious that those wasnt actually street food, in your next visit to fiji, do come down to Suva and try the street foods there, mainly Suva market and then make your way to the nausori market
Vinaka You both...Love watching your amazing adventures in a different parts of the world...Ps.bbq & hot dogs in the city at night..i wouldn't recomend it for safety reasons..
The Indian food you had was not traditional Fiji Indian food. What you ate was cuisine directly out of India. Naan and tikka masala is not Fiji Indian. It's an import. Unfortunately you were not advised but you should have asked for a Fiji Indian restaurant where you would have tasted like true/real Fijian curry. Maybe a little research would have helped.
FIJIAN FOOD MUST BE COMFORTABLE TO US IN THE CARIBBEAN THAT IS TROPICAL ISLAND FOOD.ALSO WE KNOW INDIAN FOOD.IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO KNOW THE INDIAN FOODS IN FIJI.
I'm from Fiji and I have been watching and commenting on your cooking in the Caribbean. I commented that the foods and the cooking are quite similar to our Fijian way of cooking. Though we don't normally use that many spices in our traditional Fijian cooking, mostly garlic, ginger, onion in our traditional Fijian dishes, but because of the country being very multiracial, we are using a lot of Indian and Chinese spices in our foods now. I love Indian foods and of course Chinese. Now we have a lot of Koreans, Malaysian, Thai, restaurants, so I get to love using other spices. Normally lemon grass is just for tea, but now I also use it for cooking and it enhances the taste of food, especially seafoods.
Tu's place is NOT a street food place Hannah and Chad!! Its a nice cozy restaurant which is very local classy place. If you want street food in fiji go to our local markets and get food from the side of market vendors. You probably shouldn't say street food on this blog as you are eating at upscale places for locals

BULA!!!I really appriciate you guys for visiting my country and tasting the different cuisine and food around Nadi.
Vinaka.
Brining typically occurs with salt water. When foods are placed in a generally citrus-based acid bath, that's called "acidulation."
Very informative,beautiful island friendly people,delicious food, I ‘m proud to have a Fijian friend😅😅😅

No surprise, the Caribbean is also one of those places that has a thriving Indian diaspora there since the colonial days.
