You should go on a Green Day marathon in chronology, and see how the boys evolved over the years. Start with 1039/Smooth, and then make your way through each album until you get to Father of All..Green Day’s latest album. I guarantee you should love all their 90’s material though, that for me was peak Green Day.

    11: Dos

9: Revolution Radio - Its just kinda meh
8: 21st Century Breakdown - Its pretty good, but its still just not as good as others
7: 39/Smooth - I just like how its more punk than their other albums
6: Warning - This used to be one of my favorites, but honestly a lot of the songs are just kinda meh (I also agree that Misery is absolutely amazing)
5: Insomniac - Other than 39/Smooth and Kerplunk, this is their most punk album in my opinion
4: Nimrod - It just has a lot of really good songs (also I really dont like Time of Your Life)
3: American Idiot - I really really really like this album, but I think its a little overrated
2: Kerplunk - I'm honestly not sure why I love this album so much, I just do
1: Dookie - I agree with the complaint that all songs sound the same, but I still LOVE this album (its probably just nostalgia because its the first album of them I ever heard), and also
Longview is probably my favorite Green Day song

Okay but I love reviews and ranked videos so I am excited. (Also I love how Green Day is still denying being The Network but we all know.)
Maybe you should rank MCR (despite the fact that there were only arguably five albums so it's tricky.) Also I don't know if you're a Smashing Pumpkins fan but that would be fun, considering the even mix of gems and arguable garbage.
Or you could rank the SpongeBob seasons.

#12: No, can’t agree. I like it more than the trilogy. Sure, it’s not as developed as Kerplunk or Dookie, but it’s possible to hear the roots of their style on this record.
#11: Can’t agree here. I think Tre was the best of the trilogy. I disagree about The Forgotten not fitting the aesthetic. It’s supposed to be a breather from how breakneck and mercilessly lean the remainder of the album is, as opposed to American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, which were majestic and sprawling.
#10: Yet again, don’t agree. Dos was my least favorite of the trilogy.
#9: Can’t agree. I did not like Dos at all. Easily my least favorite album of theirs.
#8: I would agree. Revolution Radio was much stronger than the trilogy, even if I wasn’t the biggest fan of the record. Bang Bang was great, though. Agree about Still Breathing, incredibly underwhelming song.
#7: I’d personally put this a bit higher up. It’s not a great album overall, but I certainly like it more than Kerplunk. I disagree with you about East Jesus Nowhere, I think it’s one of the best songs on the album.
#6: I’d swap this and 21st Century Breakdown’s rankings on the list. 21st Century Breakdown, while not entirely cohesive, was a better record. Kerplunk was sort of a thrown together type thing. While it does have a handful of good songs - Christie Road, Dominated Love Slave (such a funny song!) and Who Wrote Holden Caulfield - it’s simply not as impressive as their next six albums.
#5: I would put this at #2, to be honest. Such an underrated masterpiece. I don’t agree about the whole “scraps from Dookie” comment. Every song on here comes from a different narrative than anything on that record. Where Dookie was an album that was perfect for brash, jaded teenage parking lot dwellers, Insomniac was an immediate response to the accusations that Billie Joe and the boys were just in it for the money now. They responded with this tight, breakneck record. It’s not as hooky as Dookie - nothing as catchy as “Basket Case,” nothing as affecting as “When I Come Around,” no breakup song as pungent and succinct as “She” - and that’s the point. Insomniac is just a “fuck you” to those who thought that they sold out, and with this album, they proved the opposite. That was evident when the album wasn’t as successful as Dookie, because it wasn’t as immediate.
#4: I would agree. I actually like Warning more than American Idiot. Also great shot at Linkin Park, that album blew ASS. Also, I wouldn’t consider Warning the song a ripoff at all. The only people calling that song a ripoff are old men telling teenage boys to get off their lawns, since those are probably the only people who are still Kinks fans in 2018. Also, you are totally on the money about Misery. Excellent song.
#3: HOW COULD YOU PUT THIS AT NUMBER FUCKING THREE?! THIS IS THEIR BEST FUCKING ALBUM, THE BEST PUNK ALBUM AND ONE OF THE BEST GODDAMN ALBUMS OF ALL FUCKING TIME!!!! LOL, just fucking with you, even if I do think it’s their best. I don’t think it’s necessarily bad that every song blends together. Pink Floyd’s The Wall, another one of my favorite albums ever, was sort of mixed that way, where each song would go into the next. Where the album began with “we came in,” and ended with “is this where?” I can very much listen to every song, since it’s concise, and invites repeated listening, which bodes well for future listens. If I had to pick a best track, it’d go between Burnout, Having a Blast, Longview, Welcome to Paradise, Pulling Teeth, Basket Case, When I Come Around and Coming Clean. I legitimately can’t pick between all of these masterpieces. But yeah, maybe the reason why I like it more than you is because I was alive when it came out. I was 1 when it was released, though, and didn’t buy it until 2004, when I was 12.
#2: While I do find this album underrated - it’d probably be #3 for me - I don’t agree about it being not as good as American Idiot. American Idiot is overrated in my opinion. I agree that it was a great transition between their apex as punk kings, and crossover into alternative music. Yeah, Nice Guys Finish Last is underrated. I remember skateboarding with my friends in freshman year of high school (2007-2008), while listening to this song on my first iPhone. Should have been bigger than that piece of shit Good Riddance. The Grouch, Redundant, Worry Rock and Platypus are all excellent songs. Last Ride In is kind of underdeveloped, since it never really goes anywhere, but Walking Alone and King For a Day (much better than the awful song by ‘80s flash-in-the-pan new wave garbage band XTC) are underrated. Good Riddance is awful, though, easily the worst song Green Day have released. Without energetic walls of noise to support him, it’s impossible to ignore how thin and reedy Billie Joe’s voice is on this song. He sounds almost as tuneless as Kurt Cobain on MTV Unplugged. I had to hear that piece of shit at my 2011 high school graduation. I hated that song even when I originally bought the album when I was 12 in 2005. My first reaction: “WTF was that? That was terrible.” I disagree about Hitchin’ a Ride being the best song on the album. I think Nice Guys or Worry Rock would earn that title for me. Yeah, the Bullet In a Bible version of Hitchin’ a Ride is great, when I first saw that as a kid, I thought it was some of the best shit ever.
#1: OVERRATED OVERRATED OVERRATED OVERRATED. Can’t agree. While it did get me into Green Day back when I bought it the day it came out when I was 12 - it was my first CD - 14 years later as a 26-year-old, I am not as warm towards it as I was in 6th grade. I don’t agree that they looked or sounded their best - Dookie earns that - but as always, that’s your opinion. However, I also recorded a song from American Idiot on my first flip phone - which I got for my 13th birthday in 2005 - however, unlike you, it was Jesus of Suburbia. Even to this day, I still think it’s the best song on the album. Are We the Waiting isn’t a bad song, but the way that Boulevard and St. Jimmy lead into and out of it just make it feel like another song. I feel like every album, even perfect albums like Dookie and Insomniac, have standard songs, and Are We the Waiting is a pretty standard Green Day song. I feel like Nimrod and Warning both were albums that did the whole “each song has its own characteristics” idea better than American Idiot. I don’t feel like it was the best commentary on George W. Bush-era America, even when I was 12, I thought that months later, when I bought System of a Down’s Mezmerize and Hypnotize - coincidentally, both on the days they came out - they were much stronger with their political commentary than American Idiot was. Sure, they weren’t as approachable - “B.Y.O.B.”, despite being a huge hit, was not as anthemic as American Idiot, “Lonely Day” wasn’t as emotional as “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Lost in Hollywood” wasn’t as ambitious as “Jesus of Suburbia” - but to me, they were both much stronger with their political commentary, since they added some lightheartedness and tongue-in-cheek humor into the mix, while American Idiot’s relentlessly earnest concept kept it from being as cohesive as their last four albums. I feel like a much more cohesive concept album was Nine Inch Nails’ The Downward Spiral, since it flowed together much more nicely. Also, it didn’t have a ham-fisted Broadway musical attached to it. However, despite all my criticisms, I still think American Idiot is a 7/10.
But despite my disagreements, I still enjoyed this video. You earned yourself a sub.

Nimrod is straight up my favorite. I can even give the song Take Back (which I can't stand) a pass just because the rest of it was so great. Jinx's transition into Haushinka still feels great, and so do the first two tracks, which are two of the 3 from the album that made Rock Band.

    9. Tre - boring but has some great tracks
    8. Warning - pretty dang good
    7. Dookie - yeah I placed dookie down at 7th, not because it sucks, clearly it doesn't, just because I haven't found as much favor with it as other albums and I've found it a little overrated
    6. Dos - their most underrated album to date, so fast and crazy, I absolutely love it
    5. Insomniac - angsty as fudge and I love that about it
    4. Revolution Radio - such a kickass record, sure Say Goodbye and Youngblood suck, but everything else hits the mark for me
    3. Nimrod - such a diverse and incredible tracklist here
    2. American Idiot - one of the greatest albums of all time, hands down

I don't interpret Good Riddance as a happy song, but I don't exactly interpret it as a "f you" song either. It's a song about broken hearts and missed opportunities. If the popular interpretation is that it's for high school graduations as a nostalgic piece about happy days gone by, I interpret it as a college graduation song about how you totally wasted your years partying when you should've been forming meaningful relationships and connections, and now you're stuck having to deal with the fallout now that you're in the real world.

Nimrod is essentially the microcosm of what it’s like to be in your mid 20’s.
Your youth is still there, but your identity is slowly changing. Your watching yourself begin to grow old and you don’t know what to make of it. It’s no wonder they were 25 when they recorded it.
