Hey Paul, I just ran into the stuck flow control valve on the three point hitch issue. Mine wasn't really stuck, but wouldn't go through the full range of motion. Good point in running it in and out every few weeks. I think mine was a case of a little rust at the end of the shaft. I sprayed it with a little oil, took the knob off (to keep from busting the knob), and then used a pair of vice grips on it to turn it just a wee bit more. Once I worked it a bit in and out, it works well now. Just have to remember to turn it every once in a while. I bought my tractor used in 2019 (it is a 2010 build year) with only 140 hours on it. Have a great day, Jason
I have a BX2230 and you are my "go-to" source for maintenance. Very entertaining and very helpful videos - keep 'em comin'! I enjoy watching all the other videos as well. Just the right touch of humor that makes me smile. Thanks for sharing! Ed J. in Illinois
Ed Janssen Thanks Ed. It's always nice to hear back from viewers and let us know how we are doing. It's had to please everyone but we're still trying. When the spring arrives we'll have more BX video's up so stay tuned. Be safe out there.
Paul. thanks for the great BX videos. My BX24 had the same issue with the hazards not working. I replaced the switch and it worked. I enjoy all your videos, especially the BX work. Keep them coming please.
Thanks, found this video useful. I would like to add that when the fan belt is loose it will nibble on the lower radiator hose, which I found by accident one day when I had the oil filter off. There was a flat spot on the hose to the left of the filter and when I finally changed it out was worn nearly to the point of leaking at 475 hours. Since the motor gets super hot when you have the mower deck on that hose could easily blow which would not allow for a cool down period.
Paul and Kathy, Congratulations on reaching your 200th TH-cam video, Paulette and I are anxiously awaiting your next 200 videos, Great Work as always, Thank you Both.
Hey Paul great video congratulations on 200 videos. My L3800 was just delivered today and I love that tractor. Sometime probably in the the next week I will have a video up of it. Have a good evening.

***** Thanks Steven. So true. I think the first video was when I was doing my restorations and showing the motorcycles and then it moved on to what your watching today. Kathy got involved just this year and only for her there might not be many video's. She grabs the camera and heads out to the shop and that's how it starts. Then there's the views like yourself. Without you folks there would be no point in doing them so thanks for tuning in. Much appreciated. The next video will be very different than the past ones ;)
Thanks Paul for the tech tip on the hazards, I've been trying to diagnose why my hazards on my bx24 won't work. Keep the vids coming especially the BX related ones ;)
Looking at buying a used one, no mower but has a loader and the 3-point hitch. Told the dealer I needed a day to think about it so thanks for the tech tips.
+Paul Short Well someone jumped on the BX1350 I was looking at after I left that night but three days later they had a B2620 on consignment sale, being delivered Monday. Looks like a BX25 on some steroids, also the price..
Thank you so much for all the wisdom you share throw your videos. I am a new subscriber but have watched most of your videos :) I am partial to John Deere my self but I have used a lot of your ideas on my tractor and they have worked out just great, and I know they will not cause me any issues in the future.
Mr zurcon First of all let me say a big thank you for your subscription. I also like John Deere but there's no dealer here on our island. They do make a great product. I'm really happy to hear you like our video's and we thank you very much for watching them and commenting on them. Happy Tractoring!
Thanks for this tip. I have never needed my three point yet, but do have a post hole auger. I have not once touched that dial. Guess what the first thing I will be doing today is ?
Congrats on the 200th. Did I really watch 200 of your videos? Do I need to get a life? Nay, this is my "spare time" time. What better way to spend it. Always enjoy watching the two of you and seeing what you're up to next. You have the Mustang, now all you need is the John Deere. :) Take care and God Bless...Levi
mi2tn Man TV must be awful if you watched two hundred of our video's lol. I'd have a Deere in a heart beat if there was an agricultural dealer here but I am pondering a new JD back hoe next summer. Have a great weekend my friend and God bless.
Hi guys , all the way from hunter valley in Australia and I have just discovered your videos , their brilliant and informative and entertaining , I have a BX2360 with 60+ hours , and doing my own service and any (future) repairs ,it will be so much easier being able to reference your Vid's , thanks again .... Hello again Paul ... thanks for the tips ... being new at owning a tractor your videos are a great way to keeping my New BX25D working correctly... Now I apologize first ...You responded to my questions on mirrors for the BX and welding 101 for the beginner [thats me!] well I can't find your response anywhere! I've looked at all the places I assumed it may be but no luck ... could we try it one more time? I know you're a busy guy [busy is good] but could we give this another shot? Hi Paul. Do you have a a product page? I’m looking for a bucket bolt on receiver, chain hooks and tow hooks. I’ve seen some for John Deere and I would like one for my BX 25 D with pinned bucket.
Hi Lewis. Yes we do. It will be in the videos description but I’ll put it here for you. Thank you for your interest in our products. Happy tractoring. www.specialtyrepairscustommods.com
Great points to look at. I to went out and look at those areas and what do you know. All good except the tight rod boot. looks fine until you peel it back. Yep mines cracked to. Weird because i keep it in when not used. However i did a ton of snow plowing with it last winter. Something else to look at would be the tires. All four of my tires are cracking badly. After having it only a year and a half. Crazy stuff.
Just purchased a BX second hand. Your videos have been very helpful so far. One of your tips explains keeping the draft control knob free. Mine seems to be frozen as you displayed. You didn't state what can be done if it is stuck. Do you have information about getting this working again if it is stuck? Thanks
Paul, started watch more of your videos. I have a lot to catch up on. and I and now a subscriber!! But , I have a BX25 question again,,, The BX25 is 4 years old, and not as fast as it was in Rabbit mode. any idea on where I should start to llok, I have changed the HST fluid and filter, checked for pedal adjustment, but man did it slow down, like half speed. Tim
Great tips, some of them are even useful for those of us that don't have the BX. I have a B2150 and there are lots of differences between the machines it must be the X stands for extreme..lol Thanks and take care.
Great videos!! just have a problem, bx 25 just up graded to a water separator and change all new gas lines put things back started right up , then it run perfectly fine but when in gear it don’t go forward or backwards it shuts down!!! Do u have any tips ??? Aloha Juan
Another great video! Thank you for all the help you generously provide to all of your viewers. I have a BX25 and my valve control knob is frozen. I watched you next video where you've gotten it loose. How did you get that to loosen up?
***** Thanks Graig. In the case you mentioned it was a good bit of work to free up the draft control. I removed part of the deck to do it but in some cases just spray WD-40 in on the shaft behind the knob. Saturate it every few hours, put some rags to catch the dripping fluid under the tractor. Give it ten hours or so then grab the knob and try and move it back and forth just a little at a time. If you get any movement at all you'll win the battle so keep at it until it free's up completely. Hope this helps. Happy holidays.
Paul Short Thank you for the prompt reply. I live in Hawaii. I sprayed the WD-40 and will let it sit for 10 hours as you instructed. I'll keep you posted. Mahalo!
You're more than welcome. Keep spraying the WD-40 on and start working the knob back-and-forth. I've seen some tough ones but you usually get them to free it up that way. If you have any more questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them. Thanks for watching the video and I hope it all works out for you. Great hearing from Hawaii. Cheers, Paul
Paul Short Happy New Year Paul! I liberally sprayed WD-40 for several days but have been unsuccessful in freeing it. I hesitant to put too much force on the knob because I don't want to break it off. Does the knob unthread? I was thinking if it did, perhaps I could screw on two nuts (metric right?) cinched up against each other then attempt turning the shaft. Otherwise how else would I get to the inner part of the shaft to clamp it and turn it? Seems like I would have to take off the seat and whole fender/floor assembly to get to it.
What did you call the grease you use on the electrics? I use acid free vaseline. 4 kg box I buy in the farmacy. The stuff is white. It's cheap and very effective. I fill up all connectors with it. Used it on all my equipment for 20 years with great success. We have the same climate as you. Keeps the salt an moisture out.

You had tip on the bucket control lever you made the repair with washers i can't find the vid can you let me know what vid this is on thanks and i enjoy all your vids
Hey Paul just letting you know this helped me out to fix my problem with my flashers on my BX25. I was also wondering if you happen to have a Facebook page?
jj1479 That's great! Glad you found the problem. As for Facebook. Yes I do but I try and keep it for family and close friends. Kathy and I are thinking about starting a facebook page titled Specialty Repairs Custom Mods so that our TH-cam viewers can get more involved. Right now we are just trying to keep up with emails, phone calls and of course our video's.
I have a 2012 BX2360 and the 4 way flashers stopped working, I sprayed WD40 down in by the button and It fixed the problem and got my 4 way flashers working again
Hi Paul, could you tell me the best way to check my hydrostatic fluid? Should the fluid be at operating temperature, should the tractor be running or off? Thanks for your help and good videos
Technically a good operator will check all his fluids before he or she starts their machine so do that first. If it’s safe to start then use it until it reaches normal operating temperature then check the fluids. Hydraulic fluids and or hydrostatic transmissions should be checked with the engine running. If you have an FEL or back hoe check the fluid with all these items in the down position. Motor oil should be checked with the motor off. Coolant should be checked preferably cold so you don’t burn yourself. Hope this helps. Play safe.
Thanks for the tips. Very helpful. Does Kubota have a service manual for sale and are they very costly. I know some service manuals can go in the hundreds.
Brian Mc Donnell Yes Kubota sell both the Service and parts manuals for their machines. As for the price, I'm guessing around $200. for the two but check with your dealer. When ever I purchase a new machine and I mean by any manufacturer I have both manuals included in the purchase. They pay for themselves the very first time they are used.Your welcome.
That would have been a good idea, but my dealership likes the idea of doing all repairs. I try to do it all myself, but without the books its hard sometimes. Thanks for the input.
Brian Mc Donnell Brian they can't refuse to sell you the work shop manuals. It's part of the business. Kubota prints those book for resale. They are well done and come in an plastic orange binder. They are available on line as well if you look around.
Hi ya Paul. Very nice videos, Thanks for sharing. I have a 2008 BX2350, and the Tach&hr meter (digital) has quit displaying. Last time I checked, it had 350hrs on it.Any thoughts on this?
I WISH I HAD A KUBOTA SEEMS LIKE YOUR AN EXPERT ON THEM I HAVE A SHENNIU CHINA BUILT TRACTOR ITS PRETTY TOUGH AND SIMPLE. MADE TO BE REPAIRED IN A RICE FIELD LOL
Hi Paul. I've been watching your videos and haven't seen one that helps me with my particular situation. I have a BX22 and had to replace some hydraulic hoses that attach to the loader control joystick box. I removed the box after replacing the hoses and now I'm having trouble getting the hoses stuffed back into the box to attach it. Any hints here? Thanks. Lydia
They can be a bit of a bear to get back in place and almost impossible if they are not OEM lines. Some folks get them made and their diameter is a little larger making them nasty to install. If your using OEM lines you'll just have to keep at it until you succeed. I don't know of any tips or tricks for this one. Sorry.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that the motor was in backwards, fans at the wrong end!! I've never been around Kubota very much but I guess that is probably obvious. Try saying "Tech Tip" and "Seized Solid" fast three times. Thanks for quick and interesting video, always enjoy and makes my day.
liveinmyamerica I'm so used to seeing these things the motor position looks normal to me lol. Man I had some hard time saying tech tip. Thanks for watching. Keep well
In one of your videos you showed a quick release fitting (maybe you mentioned 2 different ones) for a grease gun...I can't find the video, but my arms are worn out from yanking on the old style fitting. Do you know what I'm talking about?
That links to amazon.com which does not accept orders from Canada. It is not available on amazon.ca. But there is the locknlube. Does that one work well?
You never stated you were in Canada when you asked the question! I didn't like the lock n lube because it was to big. Most automotive supply stores carry the one I posted on. Call around and ask for it.
Every time I see you BX or or someone else's it makes me wish that I had the property to have one of these. Might not be a Kubota though, We don't have many dealers in NJ.
Can someone out there help me? I've been saving Paul's great BX 25 full service video which includes changing hydraulic fluid and removing the screen filter. Now that my 500 hour service is due, when I try to open this video is says the video is no longer available. Can someone out there explain if and how I can get this video back? I don't want to bother Paul because I know he and Kathy are very busy.
We have a 2016 Kubota L2501 that the gas gauge has never worked properly, always shows full despite how much it has been run and the tank is low. Any tips on how to fix this?
Paul & Kathy Short Thanks for quick reply. We are first time tractor owners and have really enjoyed your videos. They have been extremely helpful. May be hearing more from these newbies. Steve and Cathy

Play safe.
Paul & Kathy Short, yes very helpful. Thank you
That’s great 👍
Thanks for the tips.
Brian Mc Donnell
Brian they can't refuse to sell you the work shop manuals. It's part of the business. Kubota prints those book for resale. They are well done and come in an plastic orange binder. They are available on line as well if you look around.
thanks again
Hi ya Paul. Very nice videos, Thanks for sharing. I have a 2008 BX2350, and the Tach&hr meter (digital) has quit displaying. Last time I checked, it had 350hrs on it.Any thoughts on this?
Defective instrument cluster. I see it a lot. Eventually it won’t even start because of it. Around $200. Here to buy. Thanks.
I WISH I HAD A KUBOTA SEEMS LIKE YOUR AN EXPERT ON THEM I HAVE A SHENNIU CHINA BUILT TRACTOR ITS PRETTY TOUGH AND SIMPLE. MADE TO BE REPAIRED IN A RICE FIELD LOL
bud moore
Na. Not an expert. Sounds like you have a good reliable unit so that's great.
Sorry.
can someone link me to a vid to fix the belt on the fan
What do you do when the draft controller is seized solid
How do u install the bx7316 rear kit
I'm surprised you didn't mention that the motor was in backwards, fans at the wrong end!! I've never been around Kubota very much but I guess that is probably obvious. Try saying "Tech Tip" and "Seized Solid" fast three times. Thanks for quick and interesting video, always enjoy and makes my day.
liveinmyamerica
I'm so used to seeing these things the motor position looks normal to me lol. Man I had some hard time saying tech tip. Thanks for watching. Keep well
Why dont you make parts for the L2501?!?!??!?!
In one of your videos you showed a quick release fitting (maybe you mentioned 2 different ones) for a grease gun...I can't find the video, but my arms are worn out from yanking on the old style fitting. Do you know what I'm talking about?
This one! www.amazon.com/Grease-Coupler-Lock-Connect-Disconnect/dp/B00TLD6VR8
Who carries it in the Bay Roberts area? Napa?
No colonial Garage
Thanks!
Richard Butterfoss
You are kindly welcome. Keep well.
Every time I see you BX or or someone else's it makes me wish that I had the property to have one of these. Might not be a Kubota though, We don't have many dealers in NJ.
Tyler Donovan
Ah get one anyway lol. You'll find something to do with it lol. Keep well.
If I had the money I would....I would have to find somewhere to keep it though
Can someone out there help me? I've been saving Paul's great BX 25 full service video which includes changing hydraulic fluid and removing the screen filter. Now that my 500 hour service is due, when I try to open this video is says the video is no longer available. Can someone out there explain if and how I can get this video back? I don't want to bother Paul because I know he and Kathy are very busy.
We have a 2016 Kubota L2501 that the gas gauge has never worked properly, always shows full despite how much it has been run and the tank is low. Any tips on how to fix this?
Fuel tank sending unit.check it. .
Paul & Kathy Short Thanks for quick reply. We are first time tractor owners and have really enjoyed your videos. They have been extremely helpful. May be hearing more from these newbies.
Steve and Cathy
I take it that is not your BX25. Right? ;)
bwillan
No. It's a customers tractor.
