Started out a bit slow, but quickly became the best video for replacing a motor mount. Well worth watching. Includes jacking up the car and the engine correctly. Thanks for the video.
Thanks I just changed out 2 motor mounts (front and rear) and 1 transmission mount on my elantra 05. I will say the one you did is the easiest of all of them. Also of note, I think that the elantra's design actually allows for a lot of engine movement, so the changing of gears and revving while watching for movement may not be the most certain diagnosis. Visual inspection of the rubber is probably best.
I wish you had done all of them, just cause this was the best tutorial I've found. Very helpful though, and if the others are replaced the same way it'll be easy to figure out. Thanks man!
My car was idling very roughly and it didn’t accelerate correctly in drive. Popped the hood up and lo and behold 3 of the 4 mounts were thrashed, the last one close to failing. Scary. Awesome video!
Great video. The motor mounts on my mazda 3 have gone out a few times while under warranty and I'm pretty sure they're busted again now that I'm out of warranty, but I feel pretty confident to check/replace them myself now thanks to your video.

@@myRatchets I can move motor on a 2006 lincoln zephyr with my hand when I push downon the front of engine.could this be a motor mount or torque mount strut? Thanks

Just bought a new car. Went to test drive it and when I put it from park to drive it kicked or moved hard. Then I started to drive it and every time the transmission shifted the car jerked hard. I don't know if it is the transmission or not. Please help.
had a flex tube replace 7 months ago, and it went again recently. the mechanic who did the work looked at the car again and told me the flex exhaust pipe needed to be replaced again because the rear and R front motor mounts were bad. Is this possible???
I dont have shake doring ride or idle but when changing from drive to park or reverse engine i see it dose jump -front to back- (while standinh out side )is that a sign its going bad
I know this is a really old video but I'm hoping somebody will comment. I bought an 06 sonata and it looks like the front struts have been replaced with quick struts and a sway bar links look like they've been replaced. actually the tie rod ends and the ball joints look like they were placed at some point. it still has a knocking on the driver side going over bumps. Would a bad motor mount cause this?
my 2012 civic 1.8 L engine steering wheel shakes when at a complete stop. it doesnt shake when accelerating or braking or shift gears. no signs of bad transmission or tie rods, joints, alignments etc... would a bad engine mount cause this? im nt too worried about it as it hasnt affected the driving but it when im at a complete stop and holding on the steering wheel its kind of annoying. any suggestions would help.

hello, my car is vibrating when its cold at idle (P). if the car is warmed up it will vibrate as long as a gear is engaged (D,R ) when i switch it to P or N the vibration directly disappears OR once i press on the gas paddle. the mechanic checked it he suggested its one of the motor mounts, he changed the left one and check the right "visually" and said it's ok. but the vibration is still there.. the vibration is really too strong so i can feel the dash is crashing, but the steering and the gear knob are not vibrating. one more thing, if i was going over a speed bump at idle i feel the vibration is changing once the car moves up and down? Any suggestions please ? the car is BMW e90
My car sometimes shakes terribly when I start it engine cold and slowly let clutch pedal up using 1st or reverse gear but shaking disappears as engine warms up. I suppose this points more towards clutch problem, moisture or other goo accumulating on clutch plate? Altough I feel slight jerk every time I let off gas pedal while driving highway speeds without touching the clutch, as if engine/transmission would budge...
my 99 RAV4 knocks or kicks when I put it in reverse, but drives strong so I'm hoping it's a mount and not the transmission itself .any suggestions?? thanks
Whenever I shift my car into reverse gear the front two tyres both do jerks. can you tell me what will be the reason this happens only in reverse gear.
I have a toyota camry and I feel a vibration in the brake pedal. Especially when I put it in reverse or drive and when I put the ac on and at idle. What could be the problem?
You have tore into a lot of stuff... I’ve looked up all kinds of videos for references and most times i can find you working on something... you either enjoy working on cars or like me, had to figure a way to make it work if you wanted a ride..
sorry Charlie but your vibration is due to a collapsed mount, probably the front mount, for sure a mount where there is verticle isolation .....these mounts have a gel like center and when they collapse is when you get the vibration because there is now metal to metal contact with no more isolation.....the mount that is bad in this video will only symptom movement and clunk upon engagement but no vibration.
tim19609129 that's what my impression was as well, but on my 08 Mazda 3i, I am changing this mount after replacement of the front/top engine mount, so I'd say just do both at the same time or all 3 for that matter. Ordered all three mounts $49 shipped, for me a no brainier 😉
Could this be the transmission mount: when i change gears(in an auto) the engine moves maybe an inch or so, iy moves when i rev it in reverse or drive, and also when its in drive the seats will sometimes begin to vibrate when im not moving (more noticible in the passenger side).
how does a car at idle vibration has to da any thing with CV joint?! it is idling ,not moving!!! bad CV may cause vibration when you are moving,as it is a moving part!!!
TheMidnightNarwhal if you can avoid jacking on the sump/oil pan then that's great. But a piece of wood to evenly distribute the weight will allow the engine to be supported by the sump without too much worry.
