Thanks for your clear video. My 2002 Elantra has a Small top plastic tank leak. Watching your video shows me it's rather straight forward to do. I'm pretty good at being mechanically inclined and have done numerous jobs on my Elantra and previous cars in the past. My only issue is lack of patience and easy frustration if things don't go right. My now late father was totally mechanically inclined and could do just about anything. He would coach me to keep my cool and not get too frustrated if things don't go right. I miss him....😢 That said a few months ago I replaced my valve cover and gasket which went prettywell. This radiator job you show well here is not much more difficult to do if one just keeps one's head clear, pays a little bit of attention and not rush things... I appreciate your clear video and feel that I can do my own radiator myself. My Elantra is a manual so I won't have to do those transmission cooler lines as such one less thing to do.😄 I will watch your video again before I do my own radiator install..... Thanks again.😎👍
I am glad my video was helpful. Yes, staying cool is key to getting things done. I fully understand the frustration that working on mechanical things can lead to. If I get frustrated and feel my blood start to get hot, I walk away, go get a cold drink, maybe watch a show or something, and then come back when I am calmer. Best of luck to you.
Thank you. I do my best to try to show what I am doing in my videos. It is a lot of extra work, but comments like your let me know that people appreciate the effort.
This was the best tutorial I’ve found. Very well explained. And I could take notes that I could follow. Thank you! Also, for everyone else, we saw the top radiator hose replaced. But don’t forget to replace the lower one, and the 2 small hoses on the bottom.
@@m80thewolf86 I completed this 6 months as well as a thermostat replacement Heads up: for anyone also doing an thermostat replacement, make sure to direct the antifreeze away from the transmission. Or else it can pool around there
@@jaylensmith6308 Good to hear, brother. It's nice to see more and more people picking up tools instead of a marked up bill by some of the "mechanics", out there.
@@m80thewolf86 mechanic estimated $495 repair for replacing the radiator. I payed for all supplies under $100. Took about 2 days to replace due to rain, but it was no problem after except did the coolant reservoir hose leaking fluid. But I got a screw bracket thing over it and it hasn’t leaked since then
@@thejungleexplorer I do have a question though. But first I would like to say, I dont want to change my head gasket. When I removed one of the smaller lower hoses, I had some oil that came out as well. Should I be concerned? When I drained the radiator there was no oil in there, or in the pan. Not until I removed the one small hose at the bottom.
@@slowandcurious9455 Well, It is hard to tell without being there, but you are sure that it was motor oil and not stop-leak or some other oil-like substance, then it can only mean that you have a gasket leaking somewhere. Now, it may be really small and it may only leak when under pressure, but if there is oil in your radiator fluid, you will have to do something eventually. I ran Chevy venture van for several months that was getting a little oil in the radiator fluid, but it just got worse and I did have to change out the head gaskets eventually. And you do not even want to know how hard that job was on a Venture. LOL! I hope it all works out well for you.
OMG!!! You didn't get the air out of the system!!! You're going to ruin people's motors, heater cores, water pumps and another radiator without "burping" the air out of the cooling system! If an air pocket hits the water pump, WHICH IT MOST CERTAINLY WILL, it's game over. Boom! Overheating car- blown head gasket, pressure cracking the heater core ($1,500+ repair), seized water pump... I mean the list goes on and on!
Just advisory when you try to fix something what ever it is you have to remove the battery terminal ( negative side) for safety. And lessening the music audio will much better when making a vlog, thanks.
I hv a Hyundai Elantra 2006 IV6 (automatic)model .. now a days my car gonna heat up early nd there also leakage in radiator also so can u plz help me to find a good radiator from online website . Becz i dont know many more about cars .. so plz give me any link of radiator which is properly used in mycar
There was definitely an oily substance that came out from the bottom line of radiator. Does that mean I may have a cracked block? Car did over heat but I was able to pull it off the road before it red lined.
I have never paid anyone to do this, so I have no idea. Mechanic charge by the hour, plus parts. I think a good mechanic could do this in under two hours, so I would estimate around $250 to $300 to do it.
A good mechanic would charge $100-$150 for this type of vehicle (labor cost only). I usually order a good radiator online which costs around $100-150 for my xg350
Why the hell is there music in this video? It's an educational video and attention needs to be paid to what is done and said. The music is distracting and pointless.
Sorry. TH-cam videos are not made for individuals. Not everyone is a music hater. I am sure there are other videos that do not have music that are more to your liking. That is the great thing about TH-cam, if don't like a video, there are plenty .ore to choose from.
@@thejungleexplorer I get that. I love music. I have a replica of Jimi Hendrix's autograph tattooed on my back. Bach is my favorite classical composer. I love the Beatles. But if I wanted to listen to music I would go to a music channel. I would never think, "Well, I feel like listening to music so I better put on a TH-cam video on how to replace a radiator in a Hyundai." It is very easy. The hardest part is getting yourself to get it started. Just make sure you have the tools you need, and plenty of time, just in case.

After removing the two small hoses at the bottom(the ones that you had a hard time with) oily residue came out! That’s bad, right?
It means that most of your fluid leaked out.

Will this be similar for a 2014 Elantra?

make sure you bleed the air out of the system after to add your new fluid.

Or is it transmission fluid?
There is no transmission fluid in you engine cooling system.

Oil in your radiator is probably a head gasket leak. Should be repairable.
