I have to say, there are SOOOO many Subnautica playthroughs were the player says they are afraid of the ocean. Not claiming they are all lying but you might be the first one i see to actually be scared, particularly the deep where you dont see the bottom. So cheers on overcoming your fears. 👍
I've often felt like the core mechanic of Subnautica, more than anything else, is overcoming fear. A lot of things in this game are not terribly difficult to deal with once you understand them, but until you do they are mysterious, scary looking, dangerous, and indeed terrifying. But like the explodey fish teach you in the early areas, if you can understand how they work and work around them, they aren't much of a threat anymore and you can get that juicy cave sulfur. I love watching lets plays of this game precisely because of that. I get to see someone experience those same terrors for the first time that I can no longer feel myself. All this to say, I am really enjoying this playthrough because your fear is so genuine and so overwhelming, and it makes your accomplishments that much more triumphant and satisfying. I really hope you're enjoying the game and enjoying the thrill of overcoming your fears (and if you're not enjoying it, as impressive as it is, you should stop. As enjoyable as I find it, I would hate to think that you were legitimately suffering through making these videos)
Welcome back! I see you’ve found your first reaper leviathan, a hostile leviathan is always a treat. When you were in that area, the entire time I kept saying in my head “she has no idea how much danger she’s in currently”. Fun fact, if you can hear the reapers screams **he already knows where you are!** As always, here’s some important tips you should definitely remember for your next episode: * Cut the creep vines, you need to craft fiber mesh with the kelp and make yourself a radiation suit already! * That scanner room only has two doors, you were trying to connect it to a wall so you need to rotate it! * Beacons are in the starting areas, you may wanna have that radiation suit and get a little closer to the aurora side as there’s a whole bunch of junk and scraps there. ** Side note, you were actually behind the aurora when you found the reaper, they are on three sides of the aurora and other fun spots you’ll discover later. * Be sure to keep track of your base integrity and make hulls in case as if it enters the negatives, it will fill up with water. * Definitely work on moving all your items to your base so you rarely have to visit your life pod. *~* And remember, there is no correct way to play the game, it’s all about figuring out your own way of playing. There’s still so much you have yet to see! And so much, your viewers have yet to mention! Be sure to ask questions that come to mind and we’ll give spoiler free answers😉
Judging by where you put your base and the surroundings, funny enough, that is where I put **my base** on my first play through. I liked how all that quartz was in the red grass and all the ores were in the surrounding caves, I just had my base a little higher up and closer to the ledge.
Some (spoiler-free) tips, if you like: 1. Your Seamoth has built in lights (RT?) like your Seaglide. If you turn the light off on your Seaglide when you don't need it, it will conserve battery 2. The Scanner Room has to be connected to a tube ("I Compartment"). And, even then, only the thinner ends will connect, so you'll need to rotate it (you can rotate stuff before placing them, I don't know why it's not showing you the prompts for doing so). Buuuuut it may not be that useful until you've gone a bit deeper :) 3. The Lifepods and other beacons the PDA records are bread crumbs for progression: You don't _have_ to visit every one, but for a first playthrough I recommend it. Once you have visited one you can turn its beacon off via your PDA to make it easier to see where to go next 4. There's no time limit on the Lifepods, so take it slow and steady. :) You can't immediately visit every single one anyway, you'll need further tools/gear for some. 5. Another to-do requires you to get inside and explore the Aurora, which requires different gear than you have (but _should_ be able to craft). The way to get in is on the opposite side of the Aurora than where your new friend at the end of the video hangs out.
First thing: You're doing fine. I get the stress bit, especially about the deep water. And it's ok. Don't worry. With a bit more exploration (especially of wrecks) you can get better oxygen tanks, and upgrades for the seamoth so it's stronger and can go deeper, and feel a bit safer. Radiation suit is needed to deal with the radiation, until Aurora drive damage is repaired. (Things you want when going to the Aurora: propulsion canon, fire extinguisher, laser cutter.) Scan more - and read the info (some is just colour, but there are important bits of information in there.) As for progress - when you visit the various beacons you already have, you will get hints and clues about where to go next. So don't worry - you'll get the information when you're ready. (And you can get a bed too - Aurora is probably easiest place to scan one. That seems important!) You encountered a Reaper Leviathan - and didn't die! Congrats :) Oh, and try to keep your health up - carry a medkit (or two) and use it if you get near half health. Otherwise you can die awful fast. Those seeds you had (rotten or not) can be planted and will grow into fresh plants which can be harvested, solving your food supply issues. Indoor grow beds ftw.) And lastly: You're doing fine.
QuickTip: you already have the blueprint for the radiation suit, if you wear that you’ll be immune to radiation. The radiation will continue to spread and get worse until you visit the Aurora and repair the leaking reactor. Second tip: you can also build the air bladder, which is an emergency flotation device that will save your life if you’re about to drown even if you’re roughly 200 feet down it will zip you up to the surface in five seconds or less.
By the time I realized that the air bladder was a thing (I'm not very perceptive) I was already almost finished with the game. Good thing this game doesn't have the bends!
A general tip when not knwoing what to do. Do one thing, and then after you have done that, do another. :) Sounds kind of silly but it's really nothing more to it. Decide to do one thing, follow that one through (unless you get stuck), and when you are finished, start with the next thing. Way more efficient than jumping between them. And also, even if it feels you don't do any progress. You have your seamoth, you have your base. That's two big things you did not have so long ago. The reaper leviathan. Yeah. Not a funny guy.. But he is quite easy to outmaneuver and then outrun. As fast as you can, get to some place somewhat shallow and follow the bottom, turning around obstacles in the way. He is not very agile and you will quite quickly ditch him. As long as you have not ventured super far away, swimming towards the lifepod is a good way of finding some shallow water. Some of the base parts needs to be connected to other base parts in the correct angle, you can rotate them before you build. And also, building out towards the deeper side of your base will let you build the bigger things, I suspect the scanner room was too close to the rocks.
@@NataliePine Oh. Didn't really expect anything like that. Glad to help. To bad you didn't overcome it while cleaning my home though. Would have helped a lot over here. :)
@@immutton I don't think I'm the only one who want's you to continue this journey, so I'm happy if I can help. Even though I have to stop myself from helping too much sometimes. :)
Beacons basically re-usable HUD markers. Never leave home without at least a couple. You'll find the fragments around piles of debris or wrecks. Try looking around the shallows biome. It'll sometimes suddenly get dark due to lunar eclipses - they pass after a few seconds Stalkers are usually pretty chill, but they have their own behaviours (as do many creatures). They do get aggressive at night or if you try to mess with their junk piles. Fun fact you can temporarily make them non-aggressive by feeding them. 34:10 - you can connect other rooms directly to the multipurpose room - you just might need to rotate them and/or back up a bit 35:00 - as for feeling lost - the game certainly doesn't lead you by the hand. All it does is provide bread crumbs (radio messages, PDA entries, lifepod and Degassi markers) - and those will lead you to different biomes and resources if you check out the area around them. And you might find some wrecks (with more blueprints) along the way. 37:55 - don't worry he just wants a hug! haha. Yeah they're one of the big bads - they certainly leave an impression. Good thing is that you will hear them before you see them so you'll know there is one in the area. They can be manageable with the right gear/upgrades.
Credit where it's due: considering that sneaky bastard got the jump on you, you did a great job evading it and getting the fuck out of there. Also, don't worry about not making progress. It's a survival game. The simple idea of "I've been gathering stuff and didn't die" is still progress.
You better clip yourself! I'm fn dying! That's one of the best first reactions to that thing I've ever seen! I'm sorry. I can tell that terrified you, but I can't stop laughing. I've never seen someone so white turn so red so fast without the sun involved. Thanks for that. Soo worth the wait. You should build the stasis rifle and propulsion cannon. You'll be fine.
Quick tip. Once you get underwater grow beds, you can sample and plant brain coral in various deep places so you can have little oxygen refill stations in many places.😉

You must read this: Unfortunately you will have to face more fears, my recommendation, go to the alien base on the island and read the info you get from there, yeah it may be a spoiler but my point is reading that will help you decide if you want to continue the game, dont worry many did finish the game, but I understand not everyone is the same, I hate deep oceans IRL XD.
Before I start watching, yeah like what others say you are doing fine, but yeah unfortunately deep diving is part of the game, incase youre wondering you have been in the alien island just scan and read the stuff you explored, alot of reading unfortunately is required, specially the one youre concerned with, I wont try to spoil but just read the info's you get. Also on your last vid you got indoor and outdoor growbeds, like what others said, that will quickly solve your hunger issues while inbase, , indoor for your plant foods, outdoor for stuff like mushroom and others and they can be installed anywhere in the ocean floor other than the foundation, also in real life fishermens use certain stuff to preserve fish, you will need it, as for fibermesh tryng not to spoil your adventure, but as a hint you already know about lubricants, you've been there you just forgot about it.

Unfortunately you will have to face more fears, my recommendation, go to the alien base on the island and read the info you get from there, yeah it may be a spoiler but my point is reading that will help you decide if you want to continue the game, dont worry many did finish the game, but I understand not everyone is the same, I hate deep oceans IRL XD.
I will say that I clicked on the video purely because of the thumbnail 🤣
Spuddy is quite the artist!

Just save your game and go get eaten by the big monster, then you won't be so scared anymore.
