Absolutely love my Bed Rug! Only regret is not getting the full one with the sides. I don’t have a spray in and have scratched up what would have been protected by it. Great looking truck!
I bought the rubber mat from rough country for my Silverado and I would highly recommend it as it is cast for full coverage. I enjoy your content. Keep it up!
Hell yea congrats on the new truck! I’m not a fan of tonneau covers but that’s just personal preference. I like the bed carpet, didn’t know that was a thing!
Your father and I seem to have the same taste in pickups. I have a 2002 Sonoma with the 4-cylinder 2.2L, extended cab, split bench seat, manual transmission, manual everything, but at least it has a CD player and oddly enough cruise control. Fewer bells and whistles means something is less likely to break. I bought a rubber garage mat and cut it to fit in the bed.
I recently bought this same truck few mo ths ago and i absolutly love it! My first new truck in 14 years. I was never a diesel fan until i needed one to pull my 32 ft camling trailer and boy i regeret waiting this long. My last gas truck i had for 14 yrs and i hope this one lasts me longer
DeeZee makes application specific rubber bed mats that fit perfectly, I’ve been collecting them over the years for different trucks lol. Absolutely the best $150ish add for any truck. I haul dirt bikes 90% of the time and the bed mat is a great addition, tolerates oil, gas, etc spills, and keeps things from sliding around. I have same Nfab steps too. They’ve saved the sides from parking lot dings and rocks from the tire more than once! Sweet ZR2! Probably my next truck.
Such new trucks..........My 79 C20 long bed was my daily driver from 1997 to 2020, when I got a 2020 2500hd CC LB duramax z71 with all the options. I did drive my mom's beat 2005 1500 5.3 silverado for a while when commuting out of town, for a better ride and to save on gas since the well built 406 sbc in my 79 averages 8 mpg with a gearvendors overdrive. I don't have plans to sell my 2020. Trucks are too damn expensive to sell and repurchase all the time and I have only put 40k miles on mine in 4 years, as a daily driver.
@CGT80 I have quite a few cars, but I was just comparing a Duramax to Duramax. The new ones are very expensive, hence the reason I haven't gotten rid of mine. My old Duramax does what I need it to, and it's paid for.
@@2015_Rubicnn Yes, they are stupid expensive. I was going to buy a ford 6.0 truck and do all the work, then thought about a teens duramax, but with the fuel pump issues and the huge power jump to the 2017+ duramax, I held off and continued to save money. They are also extremely nice and far more capable than the older ones. Technology has changed a lot. My 2020 duramax rides better than my mom's 2005 1500. The shocks may need changed again on the 2005, but all the parts are 20 years old....bushings, mounts, etc. It was well worth buying my truck, but it would be hard to do if I already had a diesel I was happy with. I get it.
I hear ya LT! My dad was an accountant, and he refused to buy a new car. The depreciation as soon as you drove it off the lot would kill the value he would say. You can get the same car one or two years old for nearly half the price he would also say. Now I buy new cars with zero down and refinance them for a lower rate. The things we do just to be defiant.
I am battling with this right now. My frugal side says buy a car 1-2 years old, but I have never owned a brand new car and would like to while I can. So I am torn between common sense and my wants or what I feel I deserve.
Hey LT. I grew up in CS. You mentioned powder coat. There’s a place in town called Pikes Peak Powder. Talk to Ryan or Get ahold of Tito at Pikes Peak Indian (Owner). They matched up the colors of some parts I needed perfectly.
Nice new truck. Love the color vs the black. I am a big fan of the Amp steps. Those you put on are so high they are nearly useless. But some like a step like that for the look. And I like that my Amp steps look clean and more like a truck without steps when retracted.
Lt, i had a similar tonneau, i loved it. Only problem for me, i let the snow and ice build up on it ( i live in idaho) and it caved in, broke the whoe rail system.
My Boss/owner is the same way, and im completely opposite. Annoys him when i roll into work on my ZX14R w the full race exhaust and suspension mods, heated seat and grips 😂😂
Cool! I bought my custom 2500 this year, same color (love it!), but with the 6.6 gas / 10speed. I ended up with GMs high clearence steps. They're coated aluminum. They're ok, will probably go with power steps down the road.
I picked up a 6.6 gas HD ZR2 myself last October and probably the best GM truck in years. I wanted a 8.1 gmt800 truck but people wanted 20k for a truck with 200k lol. So bit the bullet and went for the new HD. Minimal smog in Cali too for a gas truck over the past like with my old OBS Z71 Tahoe, and at times unloaded can get 12 city and 18 highway as long you keep it moving lol. Loaded up expected around 10, not much off from a diesel too. Makes almost identical torque to a stock 8.1 and makes 60 more hp. The 10l1000 over the 6l80e is night and day too. Electronics can be complicated mainly due to software, but you can get an Acdelco TDS subscription for sps2 programing. Parts will come down overtime too like the old vats keys that used to cost 1k to fix the system in the past. The new HD interior is night an day too.
Today's "Work Trucks" are better loaded than what many upgraded trucks were from a few years ago. I wish you could get an option for the upgraded powertrain (Engine, Transmission, Differential) snd suspension without having to purchase the packages which come with navigation, leather seats, upgrades electronics, dual zone ac and heat, and the rest of the price adders which are common today.
Great vid.. and great ideas for ours. I'm looking for a light to go below the main headlights where that little piece of black plastic lives. Are you going to do anything with that little spot too? Thanks again.. and enjoy your channel LT.
Definitely looks better than the last one. Not really a fan of the newer vehicles because the more bells and whistles they add is just more stuff that breaks. Having said that, the Legend series of trucks from Roadstershop have piqued my interest!
Congrats on the new truck! Time to hit up ol Gale Banks for some parts.......I bet he might comp you some parts if they're installed on your channel :) Banks really has some Cool Sh!t for your truck like a oil pan, trans pan, monster air intake, intake elbow, cat back exhaust, and even some LEGAL tuning
The pedal monster is the best upgrade and is even more noticeable than the derringer tuner. It is the equivalent to the Kidd 2 stage trigger on the custom 10/22 that I built........extremely adjustable and top of the line. It can be set very sensitive but is easy to get just the right feel so it is fun to use.
Nice truck, almost bought a ZR2....ended up with SLT...the deal was too good to pass up...has same features minus lift and blackout.....same deal with plywood. works really good actually..... Tax benefits are nice Am sure all the complainers are soon to follow 😂
I am curious to see how the trans works out for you. Paul Cox of FabRats has a clone to your truck, although it is a bit older. He is a bit of a natural at rebuilding automatic transmissions. He encountered a major problem with his Allison in his truck, and found that there was no factory fix. Somewhere online he found an "old school" fix on a forum, and did it himself successfully. You might want to touch base with him - unless GM has awakened to the problem.

I added a clear vinyl hose from the cover drains and exited through the rubber grommets in the front of the bed. Been in use for 25 years now.

AmpSteps fold up very tightly to the truck, out of the way. No drooping or catching on anything.
