    If that truck has cylinder deactivation, which I'm 99% sure it does. I would recommend finding a way to disable it, it has been known to cause uneven wear on the valvetrain on the 5.3 and 6.2 v8.

    Always get a certified welder to do frame repairs man. There’s a lot more to just “welding a bracket” back on the frame. Preheat and post heat to nominalize the steel after the repair. Making sure you have the appropriate amount of weld input into that piece. There’s reasons for the small amount of metal deposited into that bracket for accidents and crush points. Other then that carry on love your fixing it for your dad

    • @GrantCrabe
      @GrantCrabe วันที่ผ่านมา

      I see messages like this and I wonder do you realize people had to just invent welding from scratch had to create techniques without any prior knowledge? Do you realize all these people trade or academics telling you have to take their course to be good are from a long line of people that had to figure it out? I hope an apocalypse never comes because you will be waiting a long time for a specialist to show up because you would rather not do an adequate job yourself

    Definitely recommend 2 inch hubicentric wheel spacers. Some people think they make wheel bearings go out, but I have a similar truck and I've had 2 inch spacers on for over 11k miles and haven't had any problems. With that lift tho they would look awesome!😉

  • @claylewis402
    @claylewis402 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

    If you have the 5.3 engine, it is one of the best GM has ever put out. I've had 2,one in a 2004 Tahoe with 260,000 miles when I sold it and currently in my 2015 Sierra Denali with 133,000 miles on it. Make sure you do a complete fluid change before you do a lot of driving because you never know how the previous owner kept it up. Good luck !!!

    • @pv2xeek
      @pv2xeek 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Very debatable. Those engines are a roll of the dice. Some go 300k without issues and more of them wipe out cam lobes or collapse lifters at 50k. Sometimes you get lucky and find a 6.0 or 6.2 without AFM but even then you are most likely stuck with a junk 6L80 behind it.

  • @shawnstjohn3831
    @shawnstjohn3831 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Since someone was kind enough to yeet the factory air box, you should just put a cold air intake on it. Probably wont do much for power or performance, but it'll sound pretty cool and you need the filter anyway

  • @jamesmcdonald5868
    @jamesmcdonald5868 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The still shots and video shots that you took of the Passenger side shows that that rear bumper is bent down as slightly.That might have been from retrieval from the accident , but it is bent.
    If you are going to the extent of replacing all of the things on the front and taking care of the airbag and all of that, you might as well, just throw in a couple 100 extra bucks and get the new rear bumper as well or just try to bend up the bumper mounts, because that's where.It bent at.

    These trucks have issues with the torque converter destroying themselves and the transmission. You can put a new torque converter in it and it will fix that issue. Or you can get a transmission thermostat bypass which would help but you can still have future problems keeping the factory torque converter in there.
    With the engine I would definitely recommend get a AFM/DOD disabler. You can buy them online and plug them in to the OBD port and it keeps the engine from going into V4 mode. It’s a common issue that the factory lifters fail due to switching from V8 mode to V4 mode. This will keep the truck in V8 mode all the time. Definitely worth doing.

  • @pv2xeek
    @pv2xeek หลายเดือนก่อน +16

    Just traded in my '18. It's a good thing you got this for cheap. With 113k on it I can almost guarantee the 6l80 will need to be rebuilt or overhauled. At a minimum, it's going to need a torque converter. You might as well plan for it now.

    I'd really spruce up the interior - perhaps nicer arm rest - nicer head unit, etc. I'd also look to see if one of the multi function tailgates will work for this year truck - that would be a very nice upgrade - as we all get older getting in the bed of the truck gets to be more of a challenge and the lift kit doesn't help. also deploying type side steps would be nice as well....

    The engines on these are good once you delete the DoD. These are prone to lifter failure and wiping cams out because of that crappy system.

    You should put a magnet on the panels bcs I don’t think those trucks are aluminum parts

      These trucks sound like an angry bumblebee with aftermarket exhaust unless you delete the AFM. Haven't heard a single good one.
