    Ander is actually their Head GunSmith. Not some Rep. Loves James´interviewing style. Supportive, interested and respectful. I hung out with the guys of Bergara at Hohe Jagd and IWA quite a bunch and love the rifles and the people are salt of the earth. Everyone at the booth is either a Pro Shooter, Pro Hunter or the Gun Smiths developing the rifles. No nonesense designs and pure practicality and quality in the details for an amzing price!

    James does the best interviews. He always guides the rep when English isn’t their first language and phrasing can be difficult for them. James asks all the right questions without taking non answer type answers as well. He inserts humor when he can and summarizes the selling points for the reps 👍. James is class act and I always enjoy these videos.

    It's refreshing to hear someone be realistic about MOA accuracy vs. Match grade accuracy for hunting! I would much rather carry a 6-7 lbs rifle around for two or three weeks over a 9-11 lbs rifle. Obviously it depends on the area you hunt. I hunt the coast range of the Pacific northwest. 300 yards or less in 95% of the situation were I'm at. I have taken 7 deer in a row using a muzzleloader or a 450 bushmaster.

    Good rep for Bergara here. Really hard to find honest people that don't immediately want to sell you the product. When he said this wouldn't be ideal as a match rifle, but for 1-2 GOOD shots in a hunting scenario you can tell he's honest or being reasonable. These rifles with 22" and longer barrels weigh about the same as my Ruger Scout with a 16" barrel to put it in perspective.

    If I were into bolt action rifles, this interview would sway me to get one of theirs. Dude represented the company well while being realistic about these new models and their qualities/limitations.
    As a follow up to any readers, does a carbon fiber stock transfer recoil energy about the same as polymer or wood?

    I hate to keep bringing it up, but if they added a good set of irons and forward pic rail this would make a great scout rifle. I know its a niche concept and maybe not the most practical or popular but this has scout written all over it

    These Bergara types have that same feature as the old Remington Model 7. Cold Zero 1 MOA built for 100mm - 200m vital shots in Alpine type environs, rocky, higher altitudes (compared to sea level) sparsely wooded. Impossible to practice with or test ammo performance and grouping with since as soon as the barrel warms up all consistency goes out the window. They are sexy AF and Bergara produces bolt action lines that are able to compete with the likes of Tikka and Christiansen arms. The HMR, BPR and B-14 are great rifles.

    I hope they add interchangeable handgrips that can be added to their stocks similar to the CZ600 and Tikka T3x. Thunbhole stocks are great for most everything except driven hunts. They can still be used however a better option would be a GRS hunter stock style from Norway. Bergaras are great rifles.

    6.6 is light, but not ultra light. The ruger sfar is a 7lbs semi auto. It should be 4-5 lbs

    • @fire_tower
      @fire_tower ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I think that if you contextualize it to the barrel length it should count. We aren't talking about a 16 in barrel here that's the biggest chunk of the weight.

    • @heythere4970
      @heythere4970 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's pretty light. I have a Savage Ultralight that's 5.8 lbs naked. And every corner was cut to get there. I noticed this has two swivel mounts and two qd mounts on the front. My Savage has 1 swivel. I'd prefer more. It looks like bergara didn't sacrifice everything. Savage also has a skeletonized action. Maybe bergara didn't go that far. Either way, for caliber and barrel length, this is about as trim as you can get while still holding sub moa.

    • @jimyeats
      @jimyeats ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they went for as ultra light as possible while still keeping a reasonable profile barrel and barrel length, as well as the small added weight for the thumbhole stock.

  • @buchenrad1269
    @buchenrad1269 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    3kg (6.6lb) is not very light. Its quite normal for a sporter profile rifle. You can get a 6.6lb rifle for $400. If it isnt less than 6lb the "ultralight" word shouldnt even be considered. Its a rifle with a higher theoretical accuracy for the same weight. Modern rifles are already accurate enough for practical shooting. Lets see some of this technology used to make sporter rifles lighter instead of making tactical rifles the same weight as sporter rifles.
