It took me years to figure that out because so many instructors didn’t cover it in sufficient detail.
One point of focus that really stood out to me was - gripping not necessarily with finger tips, but gripping in a way that puts pressure directly rearward. I have heard many times that you aren't gripping the gun "like a monkey grips a banana", but this explanation shed new light on how and why. Can't wait to put this in action on my next range trip 🤘

Thanks to your other video about how to grip and stance I was confident enough to go to the range and practice for the very first time. Using your techniques I was able to score a decent group using my dad's Canik tp9sfx at 15 yards. The person next to my station refused to believe this was my first time ever shooting a gun. Great video. For you physics-types, when your grip is high up, you reduce torque (twisting motion which is the muzzle flip) because the lever arm length is reduced. The shorter the lever arm, the less torque force is produced.

You explain the control of the hand gun extremely well and I have had some problems getting back on target and also being on target. I watch all of your videos.
First time seeing this.. Will definitely take these tips into consideration to help me. One thing I noticed, the v3ry conscious awareness that you took to not muzzle the camera. Purposefully swinging the muzzle around, etc, to not point it towards the camera. I'm going to send this to my son to practice on his airsoft at home. He's 15 now and shoots with me and the other adult shooters in his life. Thanks much, Tom.

Thanks. I got my first handgun yesterday and today at the range I was having a bunch of malfunctions due to my grip. I will take what you shared into consideration when I go shooting next. I like that you talked about the pressure being in the back of the hands not the fingers
Thanks so much. I watched this video when you released to learn proper grip and stance to shoot it and found myself coming back to it after getting my new pistol. When you mentioned where you want pressure i realized that with the small backstraps installed It felt natural for me to load to the left side of the backstraps and I was throwing shots to the right. Installed the medium one and it’s more natural for me distribute pressure from the heel directly into the center of my backstrap and I have more control of my shots.
My fingers were pulling my grip apart. Pressure in the back 👍 and I don’t even really need that much. Once I eased up on tightness and simple kept palms together, I had almost no muzzle flip, I was surprised. Thank you

I would guess your issue is recoil anticipation. Miles has a great video on this. Miles will help you diagnose and correct it if recoil anticipation is what you’re suffering from. I honestly hope this info helps you! Good luck, @brianshuler6951
Fourth tip I was taught to have my left palm covering as much of the pistol as I can. I was taught keep my left supporting hand as far forward on the gun to control recoil.

I’ve been doing ok at managing some what but I’ve never been satisfied so I always look for more techniques and watching this showed me a lot I was doing wrong and some I was doing right! I can’t wait to put this to the test with my New CZ
Beautiful video, incredible the simplicity with which this guy explains. It would be perfect to do one on how to read the target in relation to the mistakes made with the grip when firing a double tap .
Very informative and extremely helpful. I'm a lefty, I have found that when I slightly rotate my right elbow inward, it helps me control recoil a little better
Very good advice ! But I got a very small hand and I need a big bore for prospecting So I bought a 44 DE and I reload to max, and yes I had troubles with it at the start, It didn't take me long to figure out a way to hold this gun with small hands Right hand as you said, But the left hand no Place the left thumb behind the beaver tail over the wrist, cover the right hand fingers with the left hand, The trick is to twist with the right hand forward and the left hand twist backwards What a difference (You cannot use this on any other type of gun) And another little trick that some people complain about is lock up or is it a jam as they call it, To prevent that I shorten my amo by 15 thou, and have not noticed any lock up or jam as they call it. Shells are shorter and they slide much better. but I use 300 & 310 hard cast copper or brass coated. I also reload to max using 4227 - 22 grains and 300 and heavier lead. I believe that is powerful enough to bring down a big grizzly, You should find it throws the shell back much further than that american eagle 240 grain I would like you to try it sometime on a DE and left me know how it works for you. I am not a fast shooter but I shoot to kill for animal defense. If you try this please let me know what your thoughts are, extremely small hands I have, and the only way I can use this gun. but it works.

You were the first one of all the video's out that discuss recoil spring weight... my gunsmith let me in on that idea years ago.
