Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (transl. Never say goodbye), also abbreviated as KANK, is a 2006 Indian Hindi-language musical romantic drama film written and directed by Karan Johar and produced by his mother Hiroo Yash Johar, in her debut, under the Dharma Productions banner. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Kirron Kher. Set and mostly taking place in New York City, the film explores themes of adultery. The title was promoted with the tag-line "A Love... That Broke All Relationships".
The film released worldwide on 11 August 2006. It was a success internationally, especially in the United States. It became the highest grossing Indian film of all time overseas at the time of its release. The film was screened in over 1,200 cinemas worldwide,[5] grossing a worldwide total of ₹2.26 billion ($37 million).[4][6] It was screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

I love it when this movie get its due. It was way ahead of its time, and other than the first 30 minutes involving slapstick 2000s comedy, it was really a study on modern relationships. The scene of fight among them was so good and a commentary where a wife makes more money than the husband. Or the break up scene where Abhishek’s character asks if she slept with him but Preity’s asks if he loves her.
Dude I didn’t even realize that last point you made about Abhishek asking Rani about ‘sleeping with him’ as opposed to Preity asking her husband about ‘loving her’. It talks to me about our insecurities as men vs. women’s insecurities...beautiful!

The funny thing is that even SRK don't like that image of romantic hero of him. This is in part fault of his hard fans, they always want that character in SRK.

@@ixa.m9915 mmmm he said that in an interview in 2000, when Mohobatain was filming. If I'm not mistake he was 35 in that interview. There is no problem with working (as a couple) with actresses more young than you, it is their choice, many of them consider a dream fulfilled, for example Mahira Khan, there would be a problem if those actresses were minors, happily these actresses are adults women.

For me personally, his movies are shit but I realised the depth of his acting when I saw train scene of swades in empty theatre…..and now I think if he choose movies like dilwale…it’s not his fault….

For sure, you have some characters in mind?
Hrithik's character in Guzaarish, Abhay Deol in ZNMD, Saif Ali Khan in Omkara, Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar just to name a few.
But all these except the first one are fan favorite characters. I loved how took a very unlikable character and analyzed it so well. Very unique and interesting. Keep doing what you do man. This video essay felt like a Nerdwriter1 in quality. Hope you gain more subscribers.

I am not justifying whatever Dev did , or how he made people around him feel. But i have a soft corner for dev bcoz he slowly became what he became ,, he just couldnt bear being a failure,, imagine being good at one thing that you love and all of a sudden you are deprived of it.
