This game really touches my soul because it encapsulates at least some of the horror and misery I’ve experienced in retail.
It's honestly worse if your working at a temporary retail store

I have had 5 retail jobs. This game is surprisingly accurate. Its exaggerated, dont get me wrong. But the game mechanics and basic game play is accurate to real time.

The treatment is scary close. People really do freak out over the smallest of things and dont give a crap if your new.
I remember we had a bad blizzard, couldn't even dig my car out. The store was still open and people actually risked thier lives to buy a toaster. Luckily our store manager managed to pull the companies teeth and let us go home before the storm buried us in the store.

They missed the utter disrespect and constant verbal abuse from inept customers, but other than that 10/10.

From what I've seen: about 80% of the time it doesn't happen but then you get someone who literally walks past an item 4 or 5 times and asks where that item is.

Tips:
-In one of the staff's hiding rooms there's a crack on the wall. You can throw a box and get a really dark secret. It is theorized that the manager is a cannibal and eats his employees, that's why Lester goes missing and he says to you "what kind of specimen are you" or something like that.
-Beware of the baby is actually written because you never know where the baby is going to be, so try avoiding the lady with the baby as much as possible
-When the time goes out, the market closes. That's why you get fired. Also, putting the boxes next to the right aisle before starting the game is the best strategy, so keep doing that!

Being a Walmart cashier, I have been threatened multiple times, hit in the rear bent over stocking shelves at the registers, verbally and physically harrassed and been through many of these scenarios in this game. A lot of retail and grocery workers during this pandemic have had it worse. Thankyou for playing and entertaining like you do sir! You have gotten myself and many fellow associates at my store through many hard and mentally exausting days!
Yeah, with so much praise going to health care workers right now, my main thought is the poor people stuck working at essential locations like fast food places and grocery stores. Especially grocery stores, they are going to be getting treated like crap just because of people freaking out and trying to stock pile stuff and that's out of their control

As someone who's currently working in a grocery store as a shelf stocker, I can confirm this game is 10,000% accurate, especially the part where people just appear next to you and pretty much demand where things are while you're busy.

As someone who works for Publix, a grocery store, I can confirm that this is genuinely accurate to how things are. I have a hard time finishing the shelves because people keep coming up to me because they don't know how to read or look for something that they need. It sucks balls, especially when they don't even keep their distance... They're just all up in my face.
Jeez man, as a person who NEVER asks for guidance unless I have spent over 30-45 minutes looking for the item, I too, find those people quite annoying. Even I GET ASKED to guide people, and I’m just a normal shopper. It’s so annoying!

Having worked replenishing shelves in retail, I can confirm this is exactly how it is like.
You spend more time showing customers the location of products (many times right next to them) than shelving.

i’m a cashier at a very weird store and in my first week i’ve worked there i have been hit on, yelled at, given weird requests, and was even yelled at by a guy because i wouldn’t give him OUR hand sanitizer. by the way, i’m 17 years old, all of these people are ADULTS OVER 21.
so yes, you should be terrified of working at retail.
Awww. Its only going to get worse sadly. I've had people tell at me over new rules that I can't change such as only one pack of toilet paper or one loaf of bread. I had one guy treat me life I was voltimort. This whole cashiering thing is shitty right now. But we'll get through it. Just pay attention and count how many people thank you every day. That's what I've learned to do because there's too much shit everywhere to not have one good thing. So hang in there sorry for the long reply. Have a great day 😊😊👍👍
Ive been working at a gas station for almost a year and ill tell you this is a everyday occurrence. I wish you luck and please dont let it get you down.
I work at a Starbucks and had a probably 40 year old man throw a tantrum and call me a mfer bcuz we ran out of matcha one day. I've also had an older man try to tell and lecture me bcuz our espresso machine was broken and he apparently assumed I did it. People are crazy dude

Watching him be stressed out and angry about customers being mean, stupid, messy, and annoying is so cathartic. I work in a grocery store and people act like it's some undecipherable mystery where we keep the bread like it couldn't possibly be in the aisle with the big sign over it that says "BREAD" in big bold letters!!!

Yeeeeah, that timer to find them the aisle they want is the exact feeling for when you're swamped and you have 1 guy with a complaint for the manager, a lady who wants 3 things that take 2 people to lift from the back, someone who just threw a temper tantrum and left because the line was too long so you have to grab that cart because obviously they couldn't put it back, and you only have 5 people on staff, and 2 cashiers, and one of them is stuck waiting for something from the back or the manager to be available and I'mgonnafuckin'scream. 🙃
