I wasn't sure if you were aware Ben, I didn't see any comment mention it either, but when you're making those two room combos (Hotel,Castle,etc) they can be VERTICALLY adjacent as well. I discovered this by accident when making my castle as I had my Royal Bedchamber above the throne room. It seems pretty generous too (I have them separated by at least 2 blocks) though I don't intend to test it. Have a nice day!

All the monsters seem to love the hot water, Ben. First time round I had both the killing machine and the young sabrecub bouncing over the wall to get to the water lol. I expect if players build a monster island when the new update hits, one of the best and most used areas on monster islands will be a hotspring lol.

Nicely done. There are 2 rooms I’ve discovered that I don’t see here. One is the Sink N Soak Bathroom. It’s 1 basic basin, 1 bathtub, 1 towel and 1 light source. The other is the Fitted Kitchen. For that you need 1 kitchen counter, 1 chest, 1 cooking pot and 1 chopping board. I found the bathroom on accident but it took me awhile to figure out the kitchen. I was determined to find a unique room using the kitchen counter.
Yeah I just turned the throne room into a waiting room, throne for everyone :D The real deal is on the next floor up via stair from the throne room, not recognised as a room but hey, it's more realistic size wise, and it even has a bit of security built in since there's a gap between the thrones (which are accessible from the king's room) and the guest area. Would be assassins have to put in extra effort to kill the king, also used the dragon lord thrones for the real deal instead to differentiate them from the waiting area ones
fun thing about rooms that need to be touching. you can also put them on top or below each other. it even works if you want the ceiling of the bottom floor and the floor of the top to be different.
When it comes to the spa resort, I built a hallway connecting the music hall and steamy spa, it gave me the same effect but without the goofy wall deal Ben has here (the double wall with parts missing in it like at 27:26)
a hallway as in between, yes the room was next to the other wall (connected, but I added two doors to the concert hall leaving one to an entrance to the spring essentially making hallway apart of the steamy spa)
Is there a certain point in the game where you should start building things fancy for the long run? I just returned to the Isle of Awakening after finishing Furrowfield, but I don't wanna do double work knowing I've barely unlocked anything in the game yet

I am trying to make the castle one but the bedroom isn't even registering as a room. I know it's not the size thing since I did manage to make it register as a neat n sweet bedroom before but it just randomly stopped being a room at all. I made no changes to the size or even much change to the room except I made the windows bigger and i replaced some chests with some armoires. That's it. :( so I don't know what I'm doing wrong. But this is a very good video Ben! My favourite Builders TH-camr for sure ^_^
Hey there! I have a ? ... I found someone else's island that I'm absolutely in love with and I took some blueprints, right? The person who owns the island has it where the rooms are not recognized but I want them to be recognized... any idea if they're using a trick to make the rooms NOT register? I've tried changing the windows, lowering the ceilings, raising the floors, etc. and nada. the rooms simply won't register. I'm so sad because I love the buildings they've created and want them for my own island (Not to share... just to enjoy) Thank you for any advice you may have!
Hello there! Normally a room only doesn't get recognized if it's too big (more than 150 floor tiles) or if there's a gap in the 2 blocks high wall. You can also take the blueprint and inspect it layer by layer and look for things that would hinder the room recognition.
Awesome designs! I've been watching your videos..you do an excellent job with designing and planning..question where do you get the plants for the paddock room and/or area? Also for the pets where do u find the berries/food to feed 'em? Thanx for making these videos they really do help
After you finish the story you can get the Ultimallet (also have a video about it) which will help you get plants and other things in their original shape/form. And the berries you can unlock by planting at least 10-15 different crops on your island I believe. And you're very welcome :)

I believe each room counts towards the total of 100 rooms. No matter if it's part of a room combination. Also room combinations only work with two rooms (I think 🤔)
The walls of the buildings look awesome! How did you get those? I thought those were the Woodless Timbered Walls but for some reason i cannot dye those. They are just grey.... Do you know what i am doing wrong?

Hey man!been watching your vids a while now! Do you suggest someone finish the whole story of the game and then start going crazy on builds? im on the part of the game where i build the pyramid. is it worth start going crazy on builds now or should i finish every quest first?
I personally waited because I wanted to have all blocks available, and I didn't regret that decision. But it's totally up to you of course. If you're happy with the blocks you already have you can totally go crazy if you want to! Otherwise I'd at least build some basic rooms that the residents will use so that you get hearts to unlock the different explorer's shores. Unlocking the unlimited crafting material can be pretty useful for the other chapters. I actually regretted not getting unlimited cotton and sand before the third island, because I had to use quite quite some glass and stuff and sand isn't the easiest to come by on the third island 😅 Also if you don't already know: you can use the flute/ocarina to find the stuff you're missing in the explorer's shores :3
I've been having this issue, in the snow area of the main island, inside the castle, I built a banqueting hall next to a castle cafeteria, every day, most of the NPCs go and sit on the banqueting hall and start to say they're starving, while the castle cafeteria chest next door is full of food, and the only ones who seem to eat it are the ones who cook and they do it standing in the kitchen.
I wish there was a system to allow outdoor areas be considered part of a building I wanted to do some patio style seating for my restaurant I settled for the bar being out there.
I went to your island last night and copied your aquarium build from the video, because I think your builds are way cooler than mine, and I just *had* to use one of yours! I'm only saying this, because if I didn't, it would honestly feel like I was stealing.
Could you do a video on lighting? Specifically in all sizes of rooms, sometimes it is hard to fit lighting in when you have a small room. Also, vise-versa when you have a larger room, and it doesn't seem as well lit
The gold outline of my carpeted stairs will not match up and continue into the carpet that I have in front of them. Any idea why? It’s a 2 wide carpet leading up to the stairs that are a left and right design (meaning they have the gold trim going along their edge down the stairs) but they won’t connect the gold border they have with the carpet that is right below them. *update* I literally figured it out 5 seconds after asking.. you have to have a carpet block directly under each step so the step is sitting on a carpet block as well.

Time for a noob question. When you build a hotel with 5 bedrooms does it count every bedroom separate for the max room count or does it as 1 building?
I believe each room counts towards the total of 100 rooms. No matter if it's part of a room combination. Also room combinations only work with two rooms (I think 🤔)

The walls of the buildings look awesome! How did you get those? I thought those were the Woodless Timbered Walls but for some reason i cannot dye those. They are just grey.... Do you know what i am doing wrong?

@@BenXC Hey! It was the restaurant. I done some digging and for some weird reason the blocks look more grey on my switch. I thought you had painted them white but its just my switch so idk ahhaha. Super dope buildings though. I am binge watching all your content. Looking forward to your opinion on animal crossing!!!!

No. Content-wise they are identical :)

Hey man!been watching your vids a while now! Do you suggest someone finish the whole story of the game and then start going crazy on builds? im on the part of the game where i build the pyramid. is it worth start going crazy on builds now or should i finish every quest first?
I personally waited because I wanted to have all blocks available, and I didn't regret that decision. But it's totally up to you of course. If you're happy with the blocks you already have you can totally go crazy if you want to!
Otherwise I'd at least build some basic rooms that the residents will use so that you get hearts to unlock the different explorer's shores. Unlocking the unlimited crafting material can be pretty useful for the other chapters. I actually regretted not getting unlimited cotton and sand before the third island, because I had to use quite quite some glass and stuff and sand isn't the easiest to come by on the third island 😅
Also if you don't already know: you can use the flute/ocarina to find the stuff you're missing in the explorer's shores :3
So are the Petting Zoo and the Farm the same thing? If not then which one of them has the overhead room combination symbol that shows up on the map?
I've been having this issue, in the snow area of the main island, inside the castle, I built a banqueting hall next to a castle cafeteria, every day, most of the NPCs go and sit on the banqueting hall and start to say they're starving, while the castle cafeteria chest next door is full of food, and the only ones who seem to eat it are the ones who cook and they do it standing in the kitchen.
I wish there was a system to allow outdoor areas be considered part of a building I wanted to do some patio style seating for my restaurant I settled for the bar being out there.

Could you do a video on lighting? Specifically in all sizes of rooms, sometimes it is hard to fit lighting in when you have a small room. Also, vise-versa when you have a larger room, and it doesn't seem as well lit

I've never made a paddock but I have completed the farm tablet target.
The gold outline of my carpeted stairs will not match up and continue into the carpet that I have in front of them. Any idea why? It’s a 2 wide carpet leading up to the stairs that are a left and right design (meaning they have the gold trim going along their edge down the stairs) but they won’t connect the gold border they have with the carpet that is right below them. *update* I literally figured it out 5 seconds after asking.. you have to have a carpet block directly under each step so the step is sitting on a carpet block as well.

There are corner windows. I think you unlock them at one point. If not they are part of a DLC

You need to build 50 different rooms on the isle of awakening for it to unlock.
