As a Mexican person I think these are closer to fried quesadillas/dobladitas than they are to tacos, such a good recipe as always

I actually tried the recipe today because I was looking for a homemade Cheese Potato Tacos recipe. It was awesome and delicious. Everything held together and it wasn’t greasy at all. Thanks Nino!!! You always nail it with your recipes. 😊
Tacos with corn tortilla are the best. I really appreciate your version of tacos, looks more like quesadilla or one dish we called gringa, maybe it´s a little bit similar to "tacos de canasta". Anyway exist a lots of kind of tacos and the best moment is when you can enjoy your version.

Really? Where I am from tacos con papa are common (Jalisco). Except in this case it would be quesadilla con papa since it’s not necessarily a taco. But tacos con papa are super common (to clarify tacos con papa are just like your average tacos with meat except they have a smooth potato filling inside just like in the video) just goes to show you that depending on where you live in Mexico that there is so much diversity in food

This was the easiest dinner I've ever whipped up. A pot, chopping board, frypan, knife, bowl. If you do your tortillas earlier in the day and just have your potatoes to make, you have like no time wasting at all.
Also, don't be bound by the sauce base. I had BBQ sauce with mine, and just normal cheese, like a cheddar block, and it worked.
The tortilla dough will fight you, like an angry wife when you forget your anniversary. Don't beat it, just soothe it, roll it slow but firm, it has incredible stretch before it tears. And if it doesn't come out perfectly circular, who cares, if it fits your spud and cheese, it ships your spud and cheese into your pie hole.

We love ketchup but not in our quesadillas lol though I can see why you might use if you don't have salsa where you are. Mozzarella works very well (as demonstrated) but if anyone can get their hands on some queso menone/blanco, that's 👌🏽.

Omggg I watched this today and really wanted to try it but was being lazy. Finally, I made these and finished eating just now. Thank you so much for this easy recipe, I already had the tortilla (roti) at home so I only had to prepare the filling. I added grated carrots and chopped green onions as well. I'd prefer to add more salt and make it spicier by adding more chilli flakes next time though! Great recipe! 👏
Edit - alsooo I made potato croquettes/cutlets with the same mixture and they turned out really good. Just coat the potato balls with flour, then egg mix(or cornflour mix), and bread crumbs and you're good to go!

Ugh you do know that Mexico is full of so much culinary diversity, right? Where I come from tacos con papa are common (even if the video recipe is a quesadilla) the premise and the concept is still the same: tortilla con papa. That’s still Mexican even if you’ve never heard of it or seen it. tacos con papa are a thing. He made a few adjustments but that doesn’t mean that it’s not Mexican. Tortillas made of flour are still Mexican. He added a few things like ketchup to fit his personal taste but that’s not different than something deciding to add salsa to their taco. So no it’s not Tex Mex food it’s Mexican food (it’s just that y’all think you know everything about Mexican food and because you’ve never heard of tacos con papa y’all think it’s not actually Mexican) again Mexico is diverse in its food

As a mexican. There's a lot of ppl saying they aren't tacos. No. They ARE tacos. Quesadillas are simply tacos with cheese.
However, if you add more than just cheese... Theeeeen they're not quesadillas anymore, they are TACOS. Quesadillas ONLY have cheese on them.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this isn't street food here in Mexico, we prepare it with homemade tortillas with corn, we don't knead the dough.
We put the ingredients inside the tortilla (not only potatoes but there is also meat in it), we close the tortilla with more dough and here comes the boiling oil!
We put it in a really, REALLY hot oil pan until it's ready.
Here at mexico don't actually care about preparing with that much care you give in cooking, and we deserve it lmaoo

As a Mexican, I can say that I have NEVER EVER seen this "Street food" for sale on any stale on any street in Mexico, also that's a Quesadilla not a taco, still that's a pretty good Quesadilla and I bet it taste awesome, any food made from scratch has a nicer mouthfeel and overall a better taste. Well Done :)

They look sooo yummy!!! but I wouldn’t say they’re tacos, they’re definitely closer to being quesadillas de papa or taquitos dorados de papa I’d say.. but it’s so interesting seeing this, it looks tasty! You probably wouldn’t find this as street food in Mexico though. I was sooo confused when you added ketchup since I’ve never in my life combined tortillas and ketchup it’s almost like illegal for my eyes to see!! but that’s just my preference though..! good vid overall food looks yummy as always

Man, Koreans do love cheese potato. So many Korean cheese and potato recipes.
As soon as I saw “Mexican” in the title I was sure the natives would come barging in telling the uploader what’s right.
People have to keep in mind that it can be difficult sometimes to find the same ingredients in a different country. Also they only try to capture the essence, and by this I mean “the stereotype impression of a country from the uploader’s point of view” so it’s easier to gain views by saying tacos than quesadillas even tho it’s not true, because most people in their country imagine tacos when they hear Mexico. They don’t have to be precise about it, IMO.
