- Together with the WDR Radio Choir, the NDR Vokalensemble and a squad of top-class soloists, Alan Gilbert and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra opened the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival 2023 with Mendelssohn's oratorio "Elias".

Wunderschöne und majestätische Aufführung dieses romantischen und fein komponierten Oratoriums mit herrlichen Stimmen aller genialen Solisten und gut harmonisierten Stimmen beider perfekt trainierten Chöre sowie gut vereinigten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Instrumente. Der intelligente und ebenso geniale US-amerikanische Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete deutsche Orchester im veränderlichen Tempo und mit dramatischer Dynamik. Wunderbar vom Anfang bis zum Ende!

i agree, but i miss the sound of the full organ in the choruses (Mendelssohns letter to his brother after the premiere in Birmingham)

Toll! Dass der Chor statt "alle" oft (nicht immer) "Aale" singt, passt natürlich gut zu Hamburg. 😂
Eine schöne Aufnahme, aber eine komplette Untertitelung wäre begrüßenswert.

Musikalisch ist dies überzeugend. Ich frage mich allerdings, ob die nüchterne Darstellungsform noch den heutigen Erwartungen entspricht. Es wirkt über TH-cam ja dann doch recht altbacken, ohne Visualisierung, was Mendelssohn mit seinem Oratorium alles vermitteln wollte. Ich bin der Meinung, man sollte hier neue Wege gehen.
Danke für diesen Kommentar. Wir sind offen für Vorschläge - was wünschen Sie sich denn für eine moderner wirkende Visualisierung?
Wahrscheinlich wünscht der Herr mehr Konfetti, Pyrotechnik und eine Lichtshow wie bei den ESC Inszenierungen. Und sowieso, wieso hat da keiner getanzt!?!! Und wieso waren die Kostüme so unkreativ schlicht?! Warum standen Bühne und Sänger nicht in Flammen an den entsprechenden Stellen? Fragen über Fragen :)
