Top video again! Any chance you could do one on the bullfinch? Hoping to get back into keeping birds this autumn & really fancy giving them ago so all information greatly received!
Absolutely, that’s my plan for the next video, I have some bullfinch chicks both normal and silver pastel hatching over the next few days so will hopefully have a vid featuring them up for next weekend
Mutations can be established in some birds by fertile hybrids. The best example being Red factor canaries from Red Siskin mules. The same goes for other finch species. But more commonly the mutation is just random in the pure species causing a change in colour
The best thing to do is chose your pairs now and keep them in their pairs over winter, that means you can pair the yellows to buffs, and be happy with your pairings with confidence they are paired
My siskin hen is breaking the eggs, I dont think it might be a calcium deficiency because I give them calcium supplements, is there a way to fix this or the hen will keep breaking the eggs? This is the second breeding year that this is happening.
You know I saw a little yellow bird in a hedgerow years ago and had no idea what it was, now I know, it was a siskin. Beautiful. I want a pair!
The greatest bird channel ever ♥️Regards from Croatia
Hi Olly. Can you please do a video on Bull Finches. Keeping, diet, breeding, various mutations, etc etc.

@@OCAVIARY Thanks for your reply, great channel.
Great video- I have 3 pairs of Siskins. Should I pair them now to bond or wait until end of winter a put them all together to see which bond?
