Your sheep do look in great shape! We have been learning that too about Rideau’s - need to feed them really well. Nice to see you’ve done well with good crops of lambs! 👍We are just beginning our lambing this week.

Great video again Mate, do you know if you treated any of the ewes that are losing the wool with penicillin. That causes the wool to shed. Also when they start to lose the wool you are better off to shear her. It saves picking up and maby lambs eating it. Good luck with the rest of the lambing. You do a brilliant job 👏.

No, did not use any penicillin. Thanks

We’ve had a few loose wool like that too. Never have come up with a concrete answer, we’ve just assumed they’ve undergone some kind of stressor and that stress causes them to “break” their wool. Maybe a a touch of some kind of sickness, even if it was brief

Yea, maybe a touch of a fever after lambing or something, though they never really went off feed.

Great work here. 2half lambs per ewe is profitable outcome for sure; I will be happy with that. For the lost wool I would suspect it might be menges, had same problem and my vet sad that s what it was.

Great video. Looks like a lice problem. Maybe another pour? Good luck. I always look forward to your videos.

I like how natural you seem in the videos and your information. 🙂I'm interested in how you handle the sheep when they need treatment. Right now we just have to catch ours because we don't have a handling system plus we're on a slope! 😑 We're planning to redesign our barn to make things easier.
Also have you made a video about new lambs in particular? Like everything you do when they're born and how you keep track of which ones are with which moms. You've got alot of sheep in there, how do you make sure the moms are doing a good job? You must spend all day watching them. 🤔😉

If it's just one sheep we just grab it, if it's a whole group treatment then we either bunch them or set up the handling system. I'll try to answer some of the other things in future videos. Thanks for the compliment by the way...☺️

7 inches apart on a 45 degree angle. Length will be determined by the size of your opening

Lice. If you sheared before lambing and used a pour on you wouldn't have the problem. I've dealt with this also. It's a common problem with wool ewes at lambing time.

Your 2.5 lamb to Ewe ratio is good. How does it compare to your last couple lambing groups ?

The others were more in the 2 lambs per ewe.
