- Well had no power (didn't have any power from the 11th to the 15th) I decided to get a gaming laptop I went with the Asus ROG Strix G15 Advantage. Edited this video on it as well took one hour and a minute to render

Howdy! could you please tell if during gaming, lets say after 30-60 minutes of gaming in something like COD, the whole keyboard felt warmer and above keyboard section was hot?
You will love it. I have had mine for over a month. I switched out the ram and added more SSD space.
I'm definitely planning on putting some better RAM in. Will probably get a second m.2 as 512gb fills quickly. So far the laptop is awesome haven't had any big issues.
Which ram did you put?
I've had 1 for 3 days now and I can not stop using it. At high settings at 1080p on gta 5 I'm getting 170-180 FPS, it would go higher but the game's engine is locked at 186 FPS i think and man, it's so smooth
It's a great laptop even when I maxed out GTV it still gave acceptable FPS though I'd rather play it like you on high with fps almost touching 200 lol.
@@XxViciousxX The ONLY problem I have with is that it has no MUX... I was worried about the CPU temp but after reading everywhere, it's not like intel. 96c would be intel's 84c mark... The CPU starts to terminal throttle at 105c if it goes above that it starts to really throttle down

I have been loving mine so far.
Got one with qhd screen. Its so smooth with fusion 360 and testing with meshroom right now. Only play ghost recon breakpoint on ultra, no issues at all.
Being picky i would like to upgrade with full rgb keyboard to control each key. Would be ideal to for highlight just the shortcut keys for each application
@@sunshine888 I did notice that you couldn't individually control the RGB was a little bummed out. But with how much cheaper this was to a comparable Intel/Nvidia laptop I knew they had to cut some corners.

It's a great value probably the best value of any laptop I have seen. Which is why I bought mine. So far I have played a bunch of games games on it and it doesn't skip a beat.

nice, im getting mine for 1150 bucks, got scared a little when I read about the liquid metal and restarting issues but hearing that that problem was in the first batches only
That's a phenomenal price. Luckily you don't have to worry about any of that stuff that was just in the models right before mine. I have luckily had none of those problems and I haven't had anybody else making comments that they're having those problems. Except for some people that bought some open box Best buy stuff that was older m5 models.

Great laptop. I have a question. When it properly heats up like in 30 minutes of gaming does the keyboard flex? (i had an hp pc that after 20 to 30 minutes of normal use the keyboard starts to flex crazy). I'm planning on buying one soon.
Absolutely none of that here. This laptop has been being pushed hard playing games and making TH-cam videos since I got it back in August 2021. So far it hasn't done anything bad and has been super reliable.
I would suggest using the laptop if you can with a monitor push it aside and use keyboard mouse.Laptop performance with a monitor pluged in increases higher plus the ram should be replaced.The ram what they ship you with is cause chip shortage lower quality they provide you.
Does your touchpad slant down or slope down? I noticed there’s a noticeable distance between the lower part of the touchpad and the body and can feel the difference. I mostly always used a mouse.

@@eddieos I used a Type C to Display Port and works great. Definately faster. Also replacing the stock RAM give a big speed bump as the stock ram is not great.

If my laptop is 300hz, and my monitor 60hz, then does that mean i should do my gaming on the 300hz screen and thus not care if the monitor is connected via HDMI or Display port? I hear people talk about improved performance on an external monitor, would that be the case even when my monitor is 60z? (I just thought i'd ask since you seem knowledgeable)
I have no knowledge of laptops, I am looking for my first pc, I saw that there are 2 versions of the screen 1080p full hd and the other 1440p 2k, the prices are the same 1400 euros what is the difference between 1 of the other which do you recommend?or is it better to get another pc recently released this year like Msi katana RtX 4070 Intel core 7 for 200 Euro plus+...
Mostly just the screens are different the 1440p has a more colorful actual screen. But the 1080p model I have does much better with the frame rate in games due to the lower resolution. So I got mine to play FPS games, so I got the 300hz 1080p version over the 165hz 1440p version. Now the 4070 is a faster GPU but I have a feeling it won't age well since it still has the same 8 GB of VRAM as the last 3070 model so with how games are going lots are taking up 8 GB of Vram without even going super high graphics. Now that might just be due to bad optimization. But my 12Gb of Vram made me able to play quite a few games I wud; ent has been able to play (unless I drastically lowered the settings) Like Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Last of us part 1, Diablo 4, just as a few examples. I really wish the 4070 came with 12 GB of VRAM it would be a great all-rounder if it just had that. But it is a faster GPU than the 6800m but if you hit that Vram limit you're going to have a bad time. Also, Nvidia is better at RT than AMD right now so if you're interested in RT (Ray Tracing) Nvidia would be better. But again RT tasks up VRAM and it only had 8GB so not sure how feature-proof it would be. So I'm still more than happy with my G15 Advantage it seems to be aging very well and has quite a few years left in it before games start running poorly.

I just picked this up today, so excited. Why is it that some have a red grip on the back and some are just grey/black? Mine isn't red but same specs.
*Edit* I realized mine IS different, I got the one with a RTX 3070 instead of the AMD gfx. Got a 5900HX processor
That's still a decent laptop and in RT games it will be faster than mine. Mine actually has multiple different back plates I just choose red.
@@XxViciousxX Ohh shit ok, thanks for the response man. I bought it from microcenter and it had that red piece on the bottom of left bezel when I viewed it on their website. But it was grey at the store when I went to pick it up. So I was curious as to which model each one was and what I was actually getting lol. Fuckin shit was so stressful researching a decent gaming lappy. Apparently my model was produced 3 months ago - it's the G513QR-MB98Q. I haven't even booted it up yet. Got it because I'm going on a trip for like two weeks so it's time lol. My desktop is still juicin a 1080ti and Intel i7 8700k.

Its lagging in warzone because the GPU is using the CPU as a pass through (no mux or advanced optimus in this laptop to switch to the dedicated graphics card), also you're using the stock ram which is trash. Change out the ram to something better and you will see a significant difference.

I'm interested in buying this laptop. Can u tell if I really need an external monitor to harness the full power of the GPU? Many reviews have said that without an external monitor it will not give as good a performance as it is supposed to....
@@aviralverma2944 you do as this laptop only has Optimus on mode which means it can't be turned off. Optimus sends the frames from the dedicated gpu through the integrated cpus graphics which means the signal from which is being bottlenecked. To get rid of this issue, just buy and/or use monitor and connect it to the laptop using the one of the direct pass through ports such as the USB c port and I believe the HDMI port allows this as well.
Over all, it just adds 20 to 35 percent more performance in almost every game out there.

That processor is a slightly better bined version of mine. So it should have slightly higher clock speeds and perform slightly better than mine does.

I like the over all design. It's got a hint of gamer without shouting it from the rooftops like Alienware for example. Though I do agree the clear WSAD keys look kind of odd. But I do appreciate them trying to be different.

I realized that when I did my RAM upgrade Video. It just sounded like that's where the speakers were.

I've been wanting the qhd version for awhile. I'm very annoyed it hasn't released in my region yet.
If you're competitive I'd go for the 300hz version if you like more immersive gameplay with higher resolution go for the 1440p 165hz. Plus it's not like the 165hz is bad for competition you just won't be getting as many FPS. I have a 165hz 27in monitor on my secondary PC which is my go to for competitive gaming.
Did you get a laptop bag, 1080p external cam, impact gaming mouse with the laptop box as it is mentioned in the site?
My model didn't come with any of that.
What temperature during heavy games?
96 on CPU with the thing at max power and 86-87c on GPU. It sounds super hot but mine has never throttled at those temperatures or giving me bad performance.

I read quite a few reviews on the graphics card getting bricked during long gaming sessions. Alot of the are on best buy, could you confirm if you faced any problems so far?
I read most of them got fried due to the liquid metal cooling short circuiting the gpu.
So far so good and I have been using it pretty much non stop to make TH-cam videos. So figured it would have happened by now if it was going to.

Omen 17 3060 with mux and thunderbolt or this stock? And with the ram upgrade will it beat a 3060 with the mux or even the 3070 with a mux
Unless you intend to use the thunderbolt in the Omen to hook up one of those external GPU's this laptop is a bit faster. I installed the new RAM and it's a complete monster.

@@huskysharky9025 It should easily be able to do VR. The 6800m is essentially a 6700 XT only it uses 130w vs desktop 6700 xt 230w.

Depending on the game, I'd guestimate from 8- 18% better than stock.

It will do 8-9 hours of just video play back or web browsing. If you play a game like Genshin Impact you get a little over 3 hours. With games like warzone more like 2 hours and 15 min.
Can it push constant frame rates for hours on end without frame drops or lag or stutter ?
What are thermals like? Can you make a vid about its thermal control and how to manipulate it?

Thank you. So far it has no problems with playing games and throttling and stuttering after prolonged usage. I used to play hours and hours of Forza Horizon 4 and Warzone on it. Stock it gets kind of toasty on the CPU up to 95-97c (throttles at 105c) GPU gets up to 80-86C I think it throttles at 90c but has never got that hot. That's with no cooling pad now I got an awesome cooling pad that keeps the CPU in the 80-85C range and GPU in the 70-75C range. I actually have a few videos on how to deal with temps as well as one video about something that makes thermals worse. If none of these videos I have done answer your thermal control just let me know what you'd like to see and ill try my best to make a video on it.

If you download a program called Hwinfo and run sensors only you can scroll down to Memory Timings and if it's Trfc is 870 something then you got the slow RAM. But if it's 575 you got the good RAM and there's no need to upgrade. Unless you want more RAM.

Can i take it when power comes back
The reason you got less frames on practice mode on Warzone is because it's more CPU bound since it's not running on a server but everything is on the computer.
Makes sense just like when you host a server while playing CS:GO all the bots get run off your CPU as I understand. Unfortunately they got rid of practice mode like using it for vids and for warming up before a real match.

@@sweetsurrender815 I think I do get less FPS in Caldera game devs need to stop using a 3090 saying the game runs well and pushing said game out. Like the new Plagues Tail game, I can only play the game with decent settings with my 3090 and 4090. My G15 struggles with anything over 1080p custom settings defiantly not maxed out. So did not even bother getting it on Steam to try on the Steam Deck.

Mostly just gaming. I use the 5900x to edit my TH-cam vids. But besides that I'm mostly gaming. I just like having options. It did all cost a decent amount but I have fun with it all so it's worth it to me in the end.

There are all sorts of free-to-play games on steam and Epic game store, Warzone is free on Battlenet, Valorant, and Apex Legends. If you meant stealing I don't do that so I wouldn't know where to start with that.

For this laptop of you want to stay 16gb you got to grab 2x8 as this laptop has all of its RAM slots available for upgrading. Or you can do what I did and get 2x16 for future proofing.

Sounds like something is either throttling hard or there's some software bug limiting performance. What have you tried as far as solutions? So I don't just offer you stuff you already tried.
Did they fix the liquid metal issue?
I haven't had any issues yet but will report back if I start having that issue.

it's not a liquid metal issue, it's a factory issue of applying the liquid metal. I think only the most early batches were affected.
Is it okay to play while charging, and even if its a fully charge?
It can slightly wear the battery if it's fully charged. But you can limit it to 80% or 60% if you want to prolong battery while being plugged in.

Lol yeah, that was mostly just because I like the game, and it's one I play a lot on the laptop. You're very welcome as well. Is it worth buying in 2023?
I would say so as long as you can get it for a good price. Just don't expect to turn RT on, its not good with RT and it runs most games with great settings besides that.

For Genshin this can run it at over 60fps if it allowed it. My 1650 runs Genshin on 60fps on max settings 1080p. You should be able to play on 1440p max settings on 60+

For the money absolutely. Sure the 3080 full 150w GPUs are a little a head but also cost significantly more for not that big of a performance jump. So unless you want to play nothing but games with Ray Tracing or DLSS this 6800m can handle 1080p,1440p and even a little 4K with the right settings.

Does anyone have any inputs on the battery life so far? Does it really last that long? Just bought one and I don’t get the advertised 8-9h of battery usage, I’m actually far from it, it’s going only up to 3-4h, sometimes shorter, with only standard activities: web browsing, emails, or not even touching it.
I’m not sure if it’s something about proper settings ( which i tried to do anyway to the best of my knowledge , to get a battery saving performance) or I got a faulty battery and I should return it
I generally get 5 to 6 just web surfing with it on turbo. To get 8-10 hours I have to out it on silent mode, turn screen brightness down to 25%, plus turn on windows battery saver. Gaming gets me about an hour with a games like Farcry 6. Less graphical intensive games like Genshin Impact the laptop bcan do a little over an hour like hour and 30minutes or so.
So if you use silent mode with low screen brightness and battery saver and still get no where near 8-9 hours I'd return it as it probably has a defective battery.

Hello I'm thinking of buying this laptop online, i was wondering is it possible to buy it online without windows 10 pre-built into it???
I do not believe so and I'm pretty sure Windows 11 comes preinstalled now. But pretty sure it's not locked down to only windows. Though some features won't work without windows.
@@XxViciousxX yeah that sucks, it's because i don't need to use windows to play my games, i find it a waste of money TBH. I was think of gaming on gnu/linux. so yeah that's why i also prefer AMD specs, because they are more supportive on linux (since their drivers are open source).
Shame that laptops have to be more monopolized than desktop pc's.

Absolutely and it's been getting even better through updates and what not. Plus now you can get these at $1300 some times which is incredible value.

@@XxViciousxX I recommend both. Especially if you like the diablo style arpgs. Lost Ark just plays so well - albiet kinda grindy, it's rewarding and end game boss fights are actually difficult. PvP is why I play it, though. And Mortal Online 2 is amazing, open world full loot pvp.

The G15 Advantage Edition is a quite bit better at gaming than the 3060 model.

I personally like this one more but that's because I wasn't planning on playing lots of games with DLSS and Ray Tracing. But of you do want to play lots of those the 3070 will come out on top. The advantage edition seems to be a head of the 3070 in most other games from what I have seen.
@@XxViciousxX I've been able to play on this and a laptop that has a 3080, if you have x8 ram installed the 3080 does around 10-15 frames better for most games and ofc higher for intel based games. But the price of this laptop even when adding 16gb of 3rd part ram is still cheaper than most 3070 laptops and definitely cheaper than a 3080 laptop
@@LawfullSpook I'd agree with that for sure. Now when you hook this up to an external it gets pretty close to a 3080 but then it's not much of a laptop anymore.
For me I feel like this is one of the best bang for the buck laptops out definitely not the fastest. But honestly fast enough to be a desktop replacement for all but the most hardcore PC guys (like me lol).
@@XxViciousxX same here, unfortunately I moved house and had to sell my gaming rig (ryzen 3950x/rtx3090) so now this laptop is my daily driver. I can't afford another 3090 rig with the prices that pc components are currently sitting at, this laptop cost me £1599 for the Wqhd version or $2140 use and that's including taxes. Id be lucky to grab a 3080 alone right now for that price.
why is mine a little laggy on fortnite? Is it the settings or the laptop itself? (It’s brand new)
If I had to guess it's either on DirectX 11 mode because when I ran on that mode it was laggy and terrible I needed to run on DX12. Or this new update that came out for Fortnite made performance a little worse.
Or I also thought that maybe it's using the integrated GPU and not the 6800M I've had a few games do that to me I can't remember if Fortnite did it but I definitely remember Minecraft doing it to me.

It still provides excellent performance stock. I really don't have to upgrade the RAM I just want to. So far it's chewing through every game I have thrown at it in its stock form.
@@XxViciousxX I’m ok changing out the ram to 32, the monitor is my main concern, never owned a gaming pc, don’t really want a desktop I want a laptop or nothing. All my gaming friends say get AMD system if all your doing is gaming because you get a better system for the same money. They claim intel is good if you go i9 and spend 3500 plus. But this is 1800 with tax at Bestbuy about my limit.
Right not I have a 55 LG C10 and a Series X, I’m not that impressed so far. I want to play Farcry 6 on a PC, if I upgrade to 32 ram will this blow the series X and OLED away? Thanks
@@Imprisoned1995 Should be on par GPU wise with a Series X(I have one to compare it to) and since this is a 1090P screen you can up the graphics to higher levels than the Series X while still getting decent FPS. Though people always tell me OLED is awesome I have never had a OLED TV before but I can Tell you the picture on this laptop looks crisp and colorful and fluid.
Not to mention if you got a USBC to HDMI you could play on your TV if you felt like it no need to go spend extra on a monitor while still getting a little more performance not like the extra performance is even necessary though with how powerful this laptop is.
@@XxViciousxX so in your opinion this laptop is about on par with the Series X? I can do 4K 120 on my series since my C10 has HDMI 2.0
I like the series X don’t get me wrong but watching TH-cam video seems like games always look better on a computer.
I may need to keep looking, I want something that’s a clear upgrade over the series X or I don’t see much point. Again I’ve never games on a pc so I may not even be able to adjust to the keyboard and mouse but people say you’ll never want a controller again if you adjust. Thanks for the response.
@@Imprisoned1995 Yep prety close the Series X is faster at 4k slightly but I doubt you could tell the difference This laptop actually has a more powerful CPU than the X so its more suited to fast passed shooters fighting games anything where FPS matters. Warzone i average 130-140ish FPS for example (mind you its running 1080p though. Though the GPU has 12GB of video memory so I'm pretty sure it could do 1440p and 4 k no issues as its basically a 6700 XT shoved into an laptop But that's the best part about PC you get to choose how things run what graphical settings you want ETC.
All i wanna know about it is if it can run red dead redemption 2 on ultra graphics

@@deadeyenub hey! So, if I just surf or watch Netflix/Prime, the batter lasts upto 4-5hrs (on a good refresh rate). If you are watching any high quality content, expect a life of 3hrs. And for gaming, Valorant will run on 60FPS with a full charge for atleast 2.5hrs.
Over-all, the battery backup is dope!

I think those are coming out in mid 2022 so if you can wait that long I'm sure those will be faster then what's in this. However this laptop is extremely awesome and can be had right now it's hard to beat it's price as well.

Why 16gb ram ain't enough for this laptop? Answer please
It's not that 16 gb is not enough they just used some really cheap single rank RAM. So that leaves extra performance on the table. So I figured I'd upgrade to some dual rank RAM with tighter timings. The laptop is still extremely fast with the stock memory. I just want more performance.

@@m3ga_c0d3r5 Yep as all 32gb RAM kits are dual rank no other way to fit 16gb on one RAM stick. There are dual rank 16gb kits but those are harder to find. Figured if I'm going to upgrade I might as well also get 32gb for the future.

Yes, this is running the latest BIOS at the time of filming this. Have since updated it once again about 4 days ago.

Is this machine have good cooling system?
It's pretty decent for how slim it is. GPU maxed out at 86c. CPU can get toasty on turbo mode at 96c but it won't even throttle until 105c. If you turn off turbo CPU temps are around 75-85c.

HEY BRO MY ASUS ROG STRIX G15 (2021) only gives me 2-2.5 hrs battery backup . even on normal surfing . pls tell me how to increase that becuase on google its saying 8 hrs
I always put the laptop on default mode which is windows mode and do battery saver with 25% screen brightness usually gets me 8-9 hours of web surfing or video playback.
is it me or the colors pop out more on Radeons vs Geforces?
I have noticed that from what I understand Nvidia does a lot of stuff in the background to affect the image quality. Where AMD tends to just give you raw visuals.

I bought this model 3 day ago. Now I cant use this laptop because it like to RESTART some time. first day around 2-3. Yesteday around 9-10 and today 2 time for RESTART. I dont know why? But I found someone got this issue like me in website. This is my first laptop and I am so sad. Tomorrow I will take this and go to ASUS service center.
Are you on latest BIOS that seems to have fixed peoples restart problem. I still consider myself lucky that this has never happened to me this thing has been absolutely perfect I've been using it basically non-stop to make videos for you guys and still no problems.

How does this GPU compare to the zephyrus M15 with rtx 2070 max q variant?
The GPU in this is quite a bit faster than a 2070 max-q. With the stock memory it seems to be right between a 3070m and a 3080m. With better RAM it's right behind a 3080m from what I have seen and experienced.

@@ches1724 That one won't charge fast enough when gaming. It's kind of a if you forget your charger at home you can charge with USBC kind of thing. Since it's limited to 100w vs the 280w charging brick.

I was just going by sound, it sounded like there was sound coming out under the monitor and underneath the laptop. But I guess they could just be using some audio magic to make appear to be doing that.
