She is stunningly gorgeous - absolute resplendency! And one of America's greatest living opera singers. Our anthem sounds so victorious in the midst of a great battle and yet still solemn in a time if great loss.
Absolutely beautiful woman with a perfect voice. I could care less what purists say about her ventures into jazz and pop, it is typical that those that cannot do criticize. This is how this song deserves to be sung and Renee gets better with time. She’s unbelievable!
I am NOT a purist, once again for those in the back she’s one of my favorites. However, her breathing is different than it used to be. Does she sound just as amazing as when she was doing only opera, why yes she does. Please don’t see this as a backhanded compliment; she’s perfect.
She is HONORABLE, she is TRUTHFUL, she is GIFTED with a GOLDEN VOICE, she is a KIND SPIRITE, she is a CARING PERSON, she is an AMERICAN HEROINE, she is a CHAMPION of EVERYTHING that makes this country GREAT !
It’s a shame that the producers let the person with the best voice (Renée) only sing ONE song!!! I really wish she would’ve sung “America the Beautiful”, or “God Bless America”!!
She has sung both “America the beautiful” and “God bless America” for the capitol fourth in recent years- but I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment. In fact, I think they should have let her sing the whole time!😂
Never heard of Renee before til now singing your antham, very impressive vocal chords,not too mention looks. Australia's version would be Julie Anthony singing Advance Australia Fair, check it out.
Her singing in this version and when she sang at the super bowl brought tears to my eyes. I just wish they would have left out the chorus in both versions. She doesn’t need backup singers. In fact, their addition takes away from the performance. It would be better if it were just her singing.
This is odd, the orchestra obviously pre-recorded, the choral voices pre-recorded with some live backup, and Renee obviously actively singing in the wind with a microphone. But she is wonderful as always.

Fleming sang this one like a ballad -- the SSB is not a ballad, waltz, gospel tune, lullaby or funeral dirge (I've heard it done each of those ways). Sadly, the "non-traditional rendition" has gotten out of hand at public events.
As a decades-long opera subscriber, I have admired Renee Fleming’s artistry in many performances since her Lyric Opera of Chicago debut in 1993. IMO, she is in the Pantheon of great singers. I found this arrangement of the Anthem more dignified than the one that accompanied her at the Super Bowl. This is so respectful to a national anthem. Not like the runs and wiggles that pop singers do so unsolemnly.
Unfortunate that kind of overdo vibrato can ruin any music.
