Hey I was a trombone player in the marching band rehearsal scene of this movie! It was so funny because in order for the production to save money/time from child labor laws, everyone in the band were fully adults, some of us twice the size and age of the girls so it added extra intimidation to the scene haha. They even searched for actual musicians for these extras and had someone write the drill routine for us to perform on camera. It was actually pretty cool to see how much dedication they put into making the marching band look and feel authentic!
That’s so cool! I’m so glad you commented
Are the mellophones next to the trombones or were they baris?
@@kaninramone6365 must have been baritones! I remember there being a couple of each but in the drill the bones we were closer to the baritones than the mellos
That's pretty cool, I did think that the marching band did look like they knew what they were doing and I definitely appreciated it. The visual of a marching band just menacingly marching around some kids with their instruments is just so funny tho
Well of course they put so much time into background details....it's not like they really had to focus on the plot lmao they just copied it. Really cool to hear about BTS things in movies so nice to know!
I love that the dad is like "What's a good birthday present for my daughter? I know! I'll marry this random woman she doesn't care about!"
I never understand these plots, "hello my child, I'm gonna marry this person you have never met before!", shouldn't one introduce new girlfriend and child first and see if they get along?? It's just as life changing for the child as it's for the adults! They have the right to know!
@@TeruteruBozusamaI mean I can believe that a parent would suck that much being realistic, bc it does happen a lot (and these kinds of parents somehow still act gobsmacked that their kid runs away or doesn't want to go to the parent's wedding, or acts out over it, etc). But I definitely would like to see some of the opposite too, where they actually introduce them in a way that maintains respect for their kid & is gradual like they're supposed to.
@@ollie2111it happened to me. I woke up one morning and I found out my mom got married to this guy I never met. But I also heard about their relationship so not exactly the same
This sounds like the script was written by Disney's A.I.
Not just that, but imagine taking away your daughter‘s special day by planning the wedding for that day specifically. I know Disney is trying to help kids deal with stuff out of their control, but they should validate the kid’s feelings. It’s extremely disrespectful to the kid. Anytime a parent puts their new lover ahead of their child, it disgusts me. All the attention is not on the daughter, even on such an important day for a kid, but on him. He also doesn’t spend time with his own daughter.
They don’t seem to realize that this child is being neglected and will continue to be so after marriage. I wouldn’t be surprised if the step mother and the dad have kids and then ignore the girl.
I’m still in denial that this is a real movie that exists
Same
Don't, use this as inspiration I'm already useing pieces to make a good version
If you guys are interested throw me more ideas

Yeah I did a double take when that scene happened like wait what did she just call them?!
I went and checked the captions on the movie and she says "Im gonna get those little stink bugs"
@@leahsherwin502Already knew that'd be the case, but I genuinely liked the idea of Disney breaking their 100 year commitment to being 100% kid friendly (ignore the racism) by letting some random side character cuss in a watered down rip off of an extremely inappropriate movie for children 😭.

This isn't even the first time Disney has done this 🤣 the show Zeke and Luther had an episode where they got "drunk" on sno cone syrup and it was the plot of the Hangover
They probably changed the name because there's already a preteen sleepover highjinks movie called The Sleepover made in 2004 so they wanted to keep their movie separate from that.
I was gonna comment that lol
That's a good point. I forgot about that movie.
TBH "all-girl teen ghost hunting show" sounds like a pretty solid pitch for a Disney show
I feel they did it before already to some degree
@@donaldduck73 Well, there was a "Kids Ghost Hunting" show on Cartoon Network. I forget its actual title.
There was also "Danny Phantom," but that was on Nickelodeon.
There was "The Troop," but that was also on Nickelodeon and it was more about cryptids and monsters than ghosts.
There was a ghostly mystery show on Disney, "Secrets of Sulfur Springs" or something like that.
@@jordancampbell8597 On Nickelodeon, there was also "The Haunted Hathaways", lol. It didn't last too long, but!!
@@jordancampbell8597It was called “The Othersiders”
A Baby Sitters Club series where the sitters also solved paranormal mysteries sounds pretty cool. Anyone remember Baby Sitters Club? Do baby sitters even exist anymore? I turn 33 in a couple months...
If nobody else has answered it already, the reason Disney isn't in trouble for the Kidz Bop version of The Hangover is that you can't copyright an idea. The concept of "these four character archetypes have a wacky night adventure they forgot and then have to rediscover the series of events that transpired afterwards" isn't something you can really have protected. On the other hand, the *expression* of an idea is copyrightable/trademarkable, so Ed Sheeran using the same note riff that a previous artist had used is use of a copyrighted work without permission, so that's legal action time. I could get into how the music industry is generally overly litigious and absurdly strict with certain musical riffs & such, but that's a different topic.
TL;DR Due to copyright not extending to concepts & ideas, Disney would only have gotten in trouble if they had literally used footage from The Hangover or portions of the *exact same* script as The Hangover
Thank you! I'll use that
Please enough of your backyard law degree. Yes you can have ideas copyrighted its called intellectual property laws.
@@anakinskywalker70 a plot summary isn't intellectual property, which is why countless bootlegs of movies and games exist, like (what's) Up and ratatoing. like op literally said, the literal script is intellectual property, not the synopsis, lego anakin skywalker.
@@firelordoregano5632 yeah intellectual property goes beyond just the script. Go look into why they couldnt use the Joker in Gotham. Pretty sure if I just made a TV show where writing down peoples names and they die, the creators of deathnote could sue for that. Take a look at south park, specifically their episode about Tom Cruise. Take a look at the disclaimers you see in family guy, south park, about “these are original characters despite the likeness to…”. Youre totally on some bunk.
The fact that the dad is more concerned about his wedding and leaves the girls to be hypnotized by a stranger.
NEGLECTFUL!
Imagine if they gave the dad indepth character where he himself is so stressed out about the wedding he never considered asking his daughter how she felt about everything
The fact that you said the fact that shows the fact that you didn’t really need to say the fact that
Só the girls got rape and don’t remember? Disney sending great messages to young kids 😂
Fun fact: This movie was actually executive produced by Ron Howard, and Brian Grazer through their production company Imagine Entertainment under their Kids + Family label.

2:50 That doesn't make any sense. Its way more plausible for their parents to let Anna Marria and Verconica throw a slumber party for their wedding without the extra element of it being one of the girl's birthday.
It feels like they saw the plot hole and over thought it tbh. I get that vibe from a lot of modern Disney movies tbh
What if if was her birthday but she's completely sidelined for the wedding
Use the fact she's stressed about the big change of a new location, new moom/dad

2:13 Keyan's contractually obligated Lab Rats mention ✅️
I guessed the hypnotist thing because disneys done the drunk off sugar thing before but man... they should have just gone with them getting drunk. The grown man hypnotizing them is way worse 😂 they could have at least made the little sister do itm
I remember a movie where kids eat rum cake thinking they would get drunk would that work???
There's also Rootbeer
Yea in the fact they cannot remember anything and that one of their friend is missing
I'd feel better if one of the girls had a book about hypnotism and they hypnotized themselves. or, as you suggested, the little sister does it to them. I could see he doing that for revenge
In Villains of Valley View they got the wonderful plot twist (spoilers) of evil genius dad was actually a superhero! I want to see how their dynamics change after this life altering revelation
Oh nooo why did I read this comment I didn’t know that was gonna happen😭😭

Or like "bad guys" that fight actual bad guys
Why did "Is the last button a direct line to the therapist you need because of this phone?" make me laugh out loud? What the hell is wrong with me?
That was the only good line in the film
Funny thing! I was just in a show last summer with Alex, the kid that plays Veronica. They are such a chill person and very fun to work with by the way. So seeing this video pop up was whiplash realizing I forgot about the fact they literally landed a Disney movie barely two months after that show.
Does a DC film really count though??? They always seem very forgettable until 15 years down the line you go "hey do you remember that one movie thar uh"
Like girl cries monster I don't know much about what it was about beyond her parents being monster hunters and she needs to save them
At the same time it felt like it was going to have a sequel but just didn't happen
There already was a teen comedy movie from 2004 called, “Sleepover”. Maybe Disney Channel didn’t wanna cause a mixup with a 10+ year movie 😂
Could we NOT mention that High School Musical is almost 20 years old? Jesus that just makes me realize even more that time is just a lie and does whatever it wants.
I just want to point out there's a 2004 movie starring Alexa Vega [from Spy Kids] called Sleepover. There is also a movie from 2020 called The Sleepover but I haven't seen that one, something about secret spy parent? So I vote they didn't change the name to The Slumber Party simply to distance from The Hangover but also to distance from The Sleepover [2020] and Sleepover [2004] respectively. The 2004 one with Alexa Vega was full of shenanigananery from stealing a car to sneaking into a nightclub. I haven't watched it in a long time, I was a preteen when it came out, but I remember the whole thing had to do with a scavenger hunt and 'stopping being nerdy' and surrounded 4 girls specficially.
Well movies can have the same title it the plot where copyright comes into play.
@@nicoleackerman205 I never said it didn't, but honestly this rips from the hangover & Sleepover with how it goes and feels story wise. I was just pointing out they may have changed it to avoid the association moreso than skirting copyright.
1. I'm pretty sure Nickelodeon also did this with hypnotism on a cruise ship
2. Speaking of shows that look like each other, Pretty Freaking Scary looks like beetle juice
I've never seen Pretty Freaking Scary but I have seen the Beetlejuice musical twice 🪲🧃and the place where the main girl "dies" looks EXACTLY like the Netherworld set.
Nick did do this, but the 4 main characters were new step step siblings, and the missing person was actually a tablet with their dad's game on it. But there was a fake out death when one of the siblings thought they pushed a girl off the boat
I was told in the comment section of another video that the show was terrible. Saying that the characters were boring, the jokes were painful and the premise was interesting but falls flat But still recommended that I watch the first three episodes just to get my full thoughts on it🤷🏿♂️.
@@AJ-xc4qe I have only watched the first few episodes but I haven't caught up with the show since then

@@carlosjaimez9028I watched the whole first season of pretty freekin scary and I gotta say it's pretty good 👍. The plot is pretty air tight, the characters and world building is good, and the vibe and set designs are great. So different from what I've seen in disney channel live action shows lately. 8.5/10
2:12 Lab Rats Lore.. continued?
The evolution of this channel, I love that. Penguins, Disney, and Disney Penguins.. and also this odd DCOM.
Odd how parodying The Hangover is on-brand, but not Owl House.
@amesstarline5482 the hangover is very adult yet very childish at the exact same time. There's more flexibility then people realize
Owl house doesn't really do that. It has even more depression than amfiba and even that was balance of to much or not enough
Disney Channel already did their own version of The Hangover, as a sitcom. It was called I Didn't Do It. I'm surprised they made an even more obvious rip-off 10 years later.
The most sibling thing to call out your sister, hahaha. Oh Keyan, as a younger brother myself - I feel you…
the keyan carlile family lore goes crazy in this video
I read the book this was based on. I thought the girl who lost her eyebrow had darker skin. Am i miss remembering.
Edit: The hypnosis is a woman in the orginal, and was brought by Veronica, not the parents. Also, the wedding isn't the same day as the daughters wedding. Also, Anna Marie took a hike with her Dad up a mountain, and this is apparently a tradition for them. Still a bit anti climatic, but makes more sense than in the movies
Also the book was called the sleepover. They probably changed it to make it sound less like the hangover lol
So there was a light version of the hangover in a book, lmao
Fun fact Nickelodeon also made a hangover movie called one crazy cruise
I like that movie
why did keyan just roast his sister for like 2 minutes in the middle of this video
I really hope his sister knew about it before hand and was okay with him revealing that information
Yah, I ran it by her first. She brought it up herself in my previous video to poke fun at it.
I actually realized why the didn’t call it The Sleepover! There’s a 2020 kids & family movie called The Sleepover over on Netflix, so Disney probably didn’t want the titles to be confused. I still think The Sleepover would’ve been a great pun, but whatever.
Nickelodeon did the same thing 8 years earlier with their TV movie One Crazy Cruise. I remember all the ads playing up how the one kid had turned purple.
Yeah and so did Nickelodeon with "A crazy cruise" where a hypnotism act result in a gang of kids waking up in the morning with no memory of presumably a crazy night happening before.
Remember when Zeke and Luthor did this plot too? There's a Nick movie called One crazy cruise that is also just the hangover lol. Anyway, I liked this one fine but I don't remember much from it. In the DCOM patheon, it's fair.
Yeah, that Zeke and Luther episode is funny
They parodied the movie again with the Good Luck Jessie crossover!
I enjoyed The Slumber Party but dang I can't unsee the obvious comparison that I missed now that you mention it. (I've never seen the first Hangover but yeah it makes sense). Actually I think my mom said it was basically The Hangover, i just didn't realize exactly how 1:1 it is haha.

Ooooh, I'll have to check it out if I haven't yet :) thank you for the rec!
well that's not gonna do much if these writers still felt the need to dumb down things for the kids, I think more specifically the live action kids show industry needs more writers who respect the intelligence of their young audience

Unfortunately it sounds mostly sidelined beyond the ending and even then it's just because change in general
9:00 I mean "I'll Make a Man Out of You" could kinda be a love song, just based on the title, but not in a way that's appropriate for the Disney Channel
1:54 I heard that Lab Rats theme lmao. Thought i was hearing things until you mentioned it was created by them as well. Great video, wasn't expecting one so quickly after the last one despite the fact you said it was gonna happen.
"I don't know if heat suffocation actually causes brain damage. But I know that it kills you which is like a form of brain damage."
Sound logic. 😂
So glad you made this video. I haven't seen it, but as soon as I saw the trailer, I could tell it screamed "Hangover".
I’m stuck on how the actress not knowing how to hold a flip phone because it hasn’t even been in any point of reference 😭 I’m old now
She was holding the part sound comes out of so high up
I didn’t even notice that because I myself have never held a flip phone.
Are you talking about the green one? That's not even a flip phone, she's stuck with a little 5-button phone, which just looks weird to hold for anyone with hands bigger than a 5-year old
Perhaps it's not called the sleepover because there's already an early 2000s movie with that same name? which hit a lot of comedy beats similar to this one, but was actually really heartfelt and sentimental by the end. I loved that movie, I'd honestly be open to watching this unironically 🤷

...what the flying hell is going on with Disney Channel now? Also, The Hangover works because they're adults.
Could work with Sugarush too
When the (Lesser than Stellar) Power Puff Girls Reboot is able to do this story several times better in less than half an hour than the supposed "Greatest Entertainment Company in the World" could do as a full TV movie.

I was scrolling through Amazon Prime and for some reason they have a lot of Asylum knock off parody movies and one of them was a parody of The Hangover and The Hunger Games called The Hangover Games. Just looking at the picture of it I can tell it was the kinda movie you can only watch when drunk, high, or both.
The Hungover Games*
I don’t wanna edit it and lose Keyan’s like on this so I’m editing it here.
I kinda remember a movie theater having a poster of that one honestly

Keyan got his legally mandated Lab Rats namedrop out of the way early this video!
I appreciate this video for giving us a lot of Keyan Carlile Lore.
Also if Transmorphers and Ratatoing get to exist, then I guess a Hangover rip-off can to!
Okay this is an extremely pedantic and niche thing to correct while undoubtedly “The Hangover” is where the meme came from, the actual shot is a shot for shot remake of a scene in the movie “21” which came out the prior year and is all about MIT students who become good at poker and they learn to count cards so that is actually a parody of that scene! So that’s actually where the “Scene” came from! I know this is stupid and pointless but it’s in my brain so I needed to share it! 😂
But great video!!!!!!!
And I saw the video for “The Slumber Party” and was like that’s The Hangover that’s literally just The Hangover! How is this legal?!?! Lol 😂
The amount of high-quality content you're creating lately is crazy, great vid!
there was also a zeke and luther episode that was a parody of hangover
Now I want The Slumber Party 3 which starts off with a scene knocking off the opening of The Hangover 3, which involves a jailbreak and then a giraffe getting decapitated

That’s a great day
this knowledge that I now have, that DC created a for-kids remake of The Hangover, will simply live in my head forever
When Keyan gave the options of how the girls lost their memories of the previous night and one of them was "hypnosis" I thought "maybe one of them put a self-hypnosis video on youtube as a prank or as an slumberparty game and it worked a lot better that they expected" lr something, I didn't thought there would be an adult hypnotist involved
i got to this video from Amanda's video and now im stuck in a loop going back and forth from each video
There is no escape. Every single person who’s watched our videos is forced to watch them infinitely.
@@KeyanCarlile I always thought that If I was caught in a loop making rewatch a video over and over again it'd be the video about vaporizing chicken in acid but I can make do with this
You know this ain’t a first time a kids tv channel tried to remake the hangover.
Nickelodeon did their own called one crazy cruise. The premise is that 4 kids and their parents go onto a cruise and during a magic act the kids volunteer for a hypnosis trick and when they snap out of its its a day later and they don’t remember anything and their room is a mess, one of them is purple, and their dads special laptop is missing.
Wacky shenanigans ensue
This reminded me of the time disney channel straight up remade adventures in babysitting. It was a wild decision to take a film made back when PG-13 actually meant something and warp it into being okay for 6 year olds to watch..
I think the onion eating contest might be a reference to shrekfest. I wouldn’t initially think it for something like this, but the fact that they play the song I need a hero while it’s happening makes me think it’s to that? For reference, shrekfest is a yearly celebration for shrek where people dress up as shrek, watch the shrek movies, and hold a semi- notorious onion eating contest
Hurray!!! i heard you mention this one in the suite life video and was worried it was forgotten in the penguins' hype
Having a grown man go downstairs and meet with teenage girls to hypnotize them and wipe their memory sounds like a criminal offense and a sexual assault case
Keyan's mother getting arrested for his sister TP'ing a house is wild
Me seeing who's playing the Hypnotist: ITS REMY THE RAAAAATATOUILLE, ITS THE RAT OF ALL MY DREEEEAAAAAMS
Disney XD's Zeke and Luther also does an adaptation of the Hangover, they get drunk over imported Blue Syrup for shaved ice and need to look for a kid before their trambobe recital, also one of the characters ends up married to a 7 year old
4:25 So fun fact, Disney channel did infact use that as the basis for another Hangover Spoof in an episode of Disney XD show, Zeke and Luther.
I saw the commercial and responded with a despondent "Oh come the fu*k on!"
The math in front of the person's face meme/reference is older! I know it was used as an unironic tool of showing the thought process of John Nash in "A Beautiful Mind", though there may be even earlier examples. I haven't watched that movie in a really long time, but I remember liking it growing up even though it was a Serious Adult Movie
I swear, Lab Rats is the William Anton of this channel. Somehow, it always comes back.
William Anton? Love that guy. I loved when he said “I always come back for HAPPY HOUR!!” And then the entire city block started exploding. Good stuff, good stuff,
In 2010, I was dragged on a highschool trip to Disneyland. One of the movies they put on the bus was "Hangover" lol.
I'm new to this channel and apparently Keyan just drops insane family lore and moves on immediately in ever video. Also I think this video would be better as a watch-a-long instead of a rundown.
Keyan, sincerely, as a homeschooler myself, you give off major homeschool vibes.
eight year olds LOVE the hangover
Zeke and Luther had an episode parodying the hangover
So Im ancient and old by comparison to you guys, I saw the Hangover in theater as a grown ass man, that being said I am freaking out at how outdated this all feels? I thought you were going to say this thing came out a decade ago but they chose to remake the Hangover for Disney kids in 2023!? Lmao! This is wild! But not nearly as wild as that story about Keyan teen sister!? What tha WHAT!?😳
That's not a random man, that's Titus from the unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt🤣🤣🤣

Planning a wedding on your daughters birthday...The next years her birthday party will be overshadowed by his anniversary
I wish I could remember the case off the top of the top of my head, but there was a case sometime in the first half of last century (or maybe the 60’s) and it was about two movies that were like the Hangover and The Slumber Party. The key difference between the movies, iirc, the family was Jewish in one of them, and then the other movie they weren’t Jewish. The court reasoned that stories often have common elements, such as how many stories have common elements all the time and are inspired by those narratives. The story still gets transformed into a new work by adding new elements. They do distinguish there’d be a difference between just remaking the movie exactly or just merely changing the names, but changing some elements of the narrative makes it a distinct work. I don’t remember the standard for music copyright infringement, but I do remember it is quite a bit lower than narrative works. I do remember it has something to do with the complexity and length of narrative works compared to music (as in it’s easier to put in more significant changes in something that’s 2 hours as opposed to 2 minutes).
