    The Mora is a beautiful knife and I trust your assessment of it. I’ve not had the pleasure of using one and probably never will. Priced out of my range. I do have the Garberg and a couple of other Moras like the Companion. I think the most I’ve ever paid for a knife was 110 or so. While I do like knives, guns, hatchets, axes, etc etc I just can’t afford a lot of the stuff that’s out there....

  • @mmiller73

    I am somewhat brand loyal with some things. Morakniv, is one of them. I own 9 Morakniv knives, and use one daily. And have always enjoyed working with them all.
    Morakniv builds well designed knives. They're VERY good for the price. However, I do believe that they've made a mistake in this line of knives. They're far too overpriced. And that's where my loyalty faulters.
    So I'll stick with my well priced knives from Morakniv, and pass on this line of knives from them.

    I have a few Mora companions and use one as a dedicated mushroom hunting knife. Works great, light weight, ergonomic, and easy to clean! I also have a Garberg and use it for camping, etc. Pretty decent but don’t prefer the scandi grind nor the hard plastic handle. Still, it works and I’m not afraid that it will get damaged or dinged up, cuz it’s built solidly. But this new series makes no sense for the money, at all? I would like to see them hire a knife designer and put out something high end that deserves $280!

      I actually have both the Lok and the Wit. The Wit is a better bushcraft knife (it’s labeled bushcraft knife) because it’s slimmer and better at food prep than the Lok (labeled wilderness knife). Also better handling feel and all round purpose knife. So I’m going to sell the Lok and keep the Wit.

    I'd love to spend an afternoon in the woods, especially sometime around October, using one of these knives that a buddy lent to me. That sounds like a great way to wile away a morning or afternoon. But, for even half of what they're asking, I can no see no reason to ever, ever buy this knife, which is disappointing. I'd love to add one of these to my appreciable Mora collection, but there's no way I could ever justify the cost. I have a carbon Garberg with the leather sheath that I finagled off scAmazon on a daily deal for about eighty bucks, and that is a great price point for that setup and about what I'd pay for this.

    I would say is a k-bar knife still wins out due to its do it durability long lasting and quality it's been proven far longer than those knives.

    The norse gods are not pleased. They could have done a lot better with the price. I have A lot of Mora knives. And all of them are great use all of them. And have them stashed everywhere. But I will have to pass on this one. You are right about what they need to do to it . I hundred percent agree. And if it was me, I'd buy the Joker knife . Like you I like the blade profile.

    I've had a mora bushcraft for years now. I paid like 40 bucks for it. Not seeing how the 300 dollar mora is any better except for the sheath.

    I think this should have been no more than twice the price of the Garberg. It's a hard sell over that.

    As long as there are people spending more than $100 on a cutting tool, there will be companies, which make money on it.

    $280 is Nuts. A sucker born every minute must be their company motto. Ash wood is used to make baseball bats. Do they play baseball in Sweden?? Probably not, as the bats cost too much. haha

    Arhm note to Mora - serious rethink on the price.

      @@gideonstactical For real - yes !
      I have 2 Mora LMF & 1 Companion for which I paid $50 each for the LMF & $40 for the Companion.
      Yes I’m happy with those knives at those prices.
      No I’m not impressed with the quality of the stainless steel they use, yes it has and takes a good edge but it will develop rust spots quite easily when compared to my Rapala fishing & filleting knives.
      As for bush craft and fire prep our native timber would (and does) dull knife blades very quickly.
      So at $280usd ($413aud) that’s a ridiculous price for what it is, you are getting into the realm of custom or semi custom made.
      Just my thoughts I think some knife companies are going to price themselves out of the market.
      p.s. great work on the channel 👍

    Do you guys really notice any difference between steels as far as edge retention? Real world use, I can not find much difference between any steel honestly. I use carpet pad as a test sometimes and they all dull very quickly from k390 to 1095. Does it only matter with certain materials?

    • @gideonstactical
      @gideonstactical  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just did an edge test on Manila rope with D2 verse 440A and there was a difference. The carpet pad may be brutal

    • @jusme8060
      @jusme8060 ปีที่แล้ว

      @gideonstactical yeah, the only steels that seem slightly better are k390 and s30v. I see these guys taking an hour to test and I'm just like " get you some carpet pad"

    Wow, such a bummer. What are they thinking. I would totally just buy one of those reiff's for that price. That steel is a joke compared to 3v!! Wood handles...........that blade probably costs about 7 bucks to make.

    One of few Mora knives I wouldn't consider to buy. It looks fine and probably is quite good since it's Mora but it loses the greatest advantage of their knives - insanely good price to quality rate. For ita price you can find knives of similar quality and even better.
