    Thankyou Dave! People complain about JS's sporadic output since Whitesnake and Blue Murder. But for me, this guy has got nothing to prove. A legend of Hard Rock guitar.

    Great playing there, big fan myself.
    I own a Les Paul custom that John Sykes owned.
    Who later give it to cosy Powell. It’s a killer guitar.
    It has a flight case with lots of travel stickers on it from all over the world.
    John’s a bad boy ;

    It’s amazing how much feel and energy Sykes can supply to a song. He loaded Coverdale’s simple blues based ideas with tons of magic and created monsters songs.

    I was only listening to the "Bad Boy Live" album a couple of days ago, with a very similar rendition of "Still of the Night". I love his playing. Thanks for another great lesson.

    YES! John Sykes. Great Job as always Mr Brewster. Lets get a Kazumi Watanabe episode. The Spice of Life concert from 1987 features some great licks. He played alongside Bill Bruford and Jeff Berlin.

    I saw John from the sixth row with white snake on the slide it in tour and have been a huge fan ever since. What a great player who doesn't get his due with the 87 album. But his playing is phenomenal. Great lesson Dave thanks 👍🎸👍

    Could we possibly see a second Three-For-All for Arch Enemy's Christopher Amott? I love his playing and he had some cool licks on his guest solo on the In Flames track, "Suburban Me", off their Clayman album. The intro solo he did there had some good melodies that set the tone of the song. Definitely worth checking out!

    Any chance you could look into The Who's performance at Woodstock? Townshend was by no means a decorated soloist but there some interesting outside-the-box choices he makes throughout that show and his tone was unreal

    I didn’t buckle my metaphorical seatbelt, but I did ditch the T-tops and take a drive through the valley. The sun was setting purple orange to the left of the peaks and just over the mountain a storm brewed, metaphorically.

    Great stuff! Sykes is a monster player! His vibrato is killer.
    Howabout a lesson on Steve Vai's playing on "album" by PiL? I never seen anyone cover Steve's ripping playing on that album.

    • @aylbdrmadison1051
      @aylbdrmadison1051 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, his playing on that one is awesome. Quite different from his hard rock, and or solo stuff.
      In that way it reminded me of Flexable, but completely different form anything on that album too.
      It's really kind of hard to describe, so I won't try and just say everyone who hasn't should give it a listen.
      This was also before JR fully lost his mind and heart, and he has some good songs on that album.

    Yeah I found that concert footage a couple years ago. No question about it those Whitesnake songs are John Sykes’ songs. The footage looks like it’s from a smaller show but it’s the best live performance of In the Still of the Night that I’ve seen. Sykes is one of those rare complete players like Eddie and Dime in that they are complete masters of the instrument phenomenal lead playing but they have an intangible feel for rhythm and to me their rhythm playing is as interesting as the leads. The devils in the details most people can play the same notes they play but it’s all the stank they put on them notes .
    Also Tony Franklin is killing it on the fret less bass in that concert. Yeah Sykes is the man their three piece rendition of the Whitesnake material proves it. I’m going to go ahead and say it out loud too Sykes sings them better than Coverdale too lol.

    Try to make a John Sykes finger tapping licks lesson. Both lessons you should make about Martin Barre and Manny Charlton both have a lot of solo albums to make a video lessons about.

    6:00 It's much harder to have a slow controlled vibrato.
    The always super fast vibratro that many guitarists use all of the time, just sounds like a distressed goat to me. lols
    Don't get me wrong, I use as many different speeds as feels right, and sometimes that does work great. But more than once or twice per solo and it just sounds boring and one dimensional to my ears.

    • @nc1969
      @nc1969 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fast vibrato doesn't have to sound like a goat... speed isn't the factor. You have to bend intune.and maintain pitch control
