    Good video mate another tip 1 have this number in your phone Local Emergency Numbers: Tourist Police: 1155. or Tourist Police i lert u APP special police units dedicated to helping foreign travelers. Made up of Thai officers and ex-pat volunteers, they speak English and wear vests that, in large print, 2 when renting a Jet ski or bike Take photos or video before you take it and let them see you take photos or video of the Jet ski or bike and when you return it take photos or video it will save you always put on a helmet 3 if you get into trouble for anything go to your embassy the embassy knows the police knows the people and knows how to help you 4 to get around use Bolt Bolt is the safe, reliable ride-hailing service 5 always have holiday and travel insurance 6 eat where the locals eat its cheaper and taste really good don't get caught in tourist traps and prices and

    Great advice. You are 100% correct in not getting in an altercation with locals. Also if you are in bar and girls start a screaming match with another girl or customer just pay your cheque bin and leave. DO NOT TAKE SIDES.

    I really enjoy your videos! The content is relatable, and the production value, at least from my amateur perspective, is quite high. I’ve been watching for a while now and recently subscribed.
    I’ve lived and worked in Bangkok since 2018 and have been visiting Thailand since 2001. As a Canadian expat since 1999, I’ve lived across many continents and in many countries and visited over 80. It's fascinating to see how much has changed in Thailand over the years. That said, a lot of what you pointed out in your videos remains true. I live in an area of Bangkok known as Sathorn.
    I’d like to add a few points to emphasize your valuable insights and offer some advice to those visiting Thailand:
    The “Land of Smiles” Misconception
    There’s a common perception that because Thailand is known as the “Land of Smiles” and has Buddhist roots, people can do whatever they want here, and locals will always be tolerant and open. While that might seem true to some extent, Thailand is still a VERY conservative and, in many ways, an authoritarian country. It's important to respect the cultural boundaries - especially when it comes to public behavior and dealing with the law.
    Respect Local Norms
    Just a few days ago, in my local neighborhood (not a tourist zone at ALL), I saw something that I’ve witnessed repeatedly: tourists walking down the street in the middle of the day, drinking beer and behaving in a way that’s inappropriate. Bangkok is not a beach town or a private playground where you can assert your personal freedom however you like. Even in the suburbs or less touristy rural areas, strolling around shirtless with a beer in hand might seem cool or relaxed, but it’s actually quite offensive. Please stop this kind of behavior-it impacts how Thai people view foreigners, including those of us who live and work here long-term. Unfortunately, we all tend to get lumped into the same category.
    Ask yourself: Would I do this in my own country?
    The answer is likely no. Would I confront or assert my authority to a police officer back home? Probably not-I’d likely face arrest or other consequences. Would I walk down the street, shirtless, drinking a beer in the middle of the day in a local non-tourist beach resort? Again, no. public consumption of alcohol is illegal where I am from. Would I rent and drive a car, scooter, or motorbike without a license? And on top of that, would I ride that motorbike down a road shirtless, no helmet, beer in hand, and wearing flip-flops? The answer is almost certainly no.
    So why do some people think it’s acceptable to do these things in Thailand?
    I’m not opposed to drinking beer or partying. My concern is that some foreigners lack awareness and sensitivity to Thai culture. If you want to engage in such behavior, there are plenty of places where it's more accepted-these spots are easy to find wherever you are.
    I don’t want to come across as judgmental, but these actions negatively impact many foreigners who have chosen to make Thailand their home. It's important to note that this isn't just an issue with tourists-locals are also affected. You are not Thai, and this is Thailand, a place for Thai people. Don’t confuse your rights with those of the Thai people. As this post and the Keis have suggested, they are not the same.

    I checked up with my insurer as I wanted to hire a motorcycle in Thailand and the deal was. I must have an Australian current motorcycle license, an international drivers or riders license and I must be wearing a helmet at all times on the motorcycle for any chance of getting coverage. So be aware of the very very small fine print in the product disclosure. Obtaining the international drivers or riders license is quite easy in Australia no hassle whatsoever and as far as I’m aware it does not expire, however I do stand to be corrected on that.

    • @mardysvids1
      @mardysvids1 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Your 100% right about this..if you rent a bike without a valid Australian motorbike licence ( your international licence will indicate you have car and motorbike licence) if you crash without the above on your international licence ANY insurance company will NOT cover you ! Unfortunately, not a lot of people or vloggers know this..

  • @PK-nm8wu
    @PK-nm8wu 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    Good advice seems simple enough, but I read about a lot of these things almost daily. Just read the fine print in my insurance certificate. right, there it says, no proper license, no coverage. Car, motorbike doesn't matter. smile a lot, mind your own business, plan ahead and you will get along great here.

    Nice video Adam. It felt very bad to see those fights on the beach with locals. I completely agree with you on this. Moreover, every foreign tourist in Thailand is representing his own country. So it's very important to avoid such instances. They spoil the image and in turn create a bad impression, bad taste for other travellers from their country.

Using the algorithm.... Just need to go back to the old fashioned way ... Walk inns ..pick up the phone or email the hotel .. and you will get a room at a normal price

      A tourist SIM is not the only choice. It's the only choice at the airport, but once you're in Bangkok (or any other major city) just go into an AIS or True shop and buy one. Then choose whatever add-ons you want. I generally choose a 25 baht per week data option (800MB on AIS) but sometimes they offer even better deals or free days.

    Here's a bit I think is useful and needs saying: One of the most cringe things that happens is when some new visitor who is poorly informed behaves inappropriately with a normal Thai woman... There just was one this week, some doofus grabbing a woman's butt in a store... his response was "I thought it was ok, it was in the bar." It is assault just like most places in the world. It could result in a stiff jail sentence the report said. So please, if you're coming over here to play with the willing providers in that part of town, don't treat all Thai women like that. It's super offensive to Thais, and as a resident expat it is embarrassing as hell. Show respect and understand what's ok and what's not! There are tons of videos on the basic do's and don'ts while visiting Thailand, but that particular subject is not presented often enough if at all. Learning about the culture is fascinating and part of the magic of the place! Been here years and what I now know is how little I know, it's a completely different culture and there's always something surprising and more to learn!
