    The trouble with dealers etc is they can't be bothered to diagnose problems these days . They just replace parts in the hope it fixes the problem.

    Perfect example of why I stay away from dealers or big garages, they just throw parts at it, in the hope of fixing,, and they expect paying, even if they don't fix the original problem,
    Nice work Jimmy 👏

      I agree 100%. I call it using the parts cannon. They just fire new parts at the vehicle in the hope that they eventually replace the correct one.

      Lucky customer. I have no luck locally, even the local dealer can't get the service schedule right. I asked if they knew if the Disco 4 3lt SDV6 2013 had a manual or electronic learn for a new throttle body, but they didn't know. Any thoughts 😃

    The trouble with dpf blockages is that it's often not the dpf but another underlying problem. This week i found out that certain Hondas that have a blocked dpf can be due to the ac system not working. Honda use the ac system to put a load on the engine to help with the regen. The best part is you get no fault codes and unless you know these cars well you would never of guessed its the ac causing the dpf blocking.

    • @callumcurtis15
      @callumcurtis15 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's crazy that the manufacturers can come up with these crazy parameters to enable DPF regen but not then publish this information for free so people can maintain their cars .

    I’ve lost count of how many throttle flaps i’ve replaced for this fault, any boost codes and consequential dpf issues the first thing i do is pull the front off and poke the flap to see it stick, it’s common knowledge so how these garages create such a cluster fk of these jobs i don’t know 😂

  • @AutomotiveEvangelist

    Went through a similar saga, but never took it to a garage because I trust myself more than any garage. Didn't throw parts at it but kept testing and cleaning the DPF until I eventually bit the bullet and replaced the throttle body. Never had an issue until I sold it to move back to the good 'ol USA. Wish we had someone with your expertise in North Manchester. I have a Citroen Berlingo B9 1.6l Diesel and get intermittent "Anti Pollution" Error messages in the display and then the vehicle goes into limp mode. Code reader shows P0087 and sometimes also P0093 Fuel leak problem and P1351. The vehicle has been into 2 garages for repair, the fuel filter has been changed twice and none of them have any other ideas except to try swapping parts. There are no fuel leaks anywhere. The vehicle sometimes works OK for a few weeks and then the fault returns. Love watching your videos and the way you diagnose the problems.

    • @stiggyness1976
      @stiggyness1976 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's an easy fix, it's the fuel rail pressure sensor that's giving intermittent readings, it's underneath the egr valve. The code p1351 is knackered glowplugs. The 1.6hdi doesn't need the glowplugs for doing regens. I have two Citroen C4 Picassos with the same engine and I also have a C4 Picasso 2.0 hdi.

    Got a Renault master. Had low boost code come up, but turbo intercooler hose getting blown off. So no t low. After swapping some sensors found it to be sticking throttle body. This van as never driven smooth, can't keep a constant speed on motorways, it gradually slows. Press accelerator very slightly. No acceleration. Press very slightly again. No acceleration. Third time off it goes. It's like turbo lag but I think it's the throttle body closing off to cause vacuum for the egr to pull gas through. Serious looking at programming out the egr.

I saw your videos and followed your advice clearing the sticking butterfly flap, the MAP sensor I cleared the codes and they kept coming back with DPF full warnings but no restricted performance. So, I changed the oil separator, it took me 20 minutes following your video. That was three days ago and I've covered many miles of varied driving without any issues. If I get the problem again, I might have to consider changing the inlet manifold, because from other forums , it is prone to hairline fractures that can cause air leakage too. But, so far so good. I wonder where garages get their mechanics from as they don’t appear to know how to fix cars. This is a common fault on Land Rovers and the dealer should know what the issue is right away. My Qashqai has a dodgy part that fails every two years regular as clockwork. It’s the turbo air intake pipe, that’s plastic and snaps in half causing the car to go into limp mode. I carry a spare for when, not if, the current one fails as it’s a simple five minute swap out, and put new part in. Then it’s all good for another two years until it snaps again.

      A modern diesel equipped with a DPF needs to be on the open road as much as the town otherwise it will block with soot

    How far does the DPF differential pressure drop after complete cleaning at cca. 3000RPM? To 0mBar or is stays at around 30mBar? Mine has around 60-70mBar at 3000RPM after a successful active DPF regeneration with no interruptions on the highway. And I believe the DPF faulty because it can't clean itself completely so I have active regenerations every 120km - 200km. That's too often.

    Why does a diesel have a throttle? It’s ridiculous!

    • @ORileysAutos
      @ORileysAutos  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Main reason for having a throttle body on a Diesel is EGR and it also has a role to play during engine shutdown. When engine is turned off the valve closes and cuts air into the cylinders this helps to achieve a relatively smoother shut down. Throttle body works as an Anti-Shudder Valve (ASV).
      Diesel engines generally do not need a throttle valve. However, in modern diesel cars, throttling the amount of intake air facilitates precision control for exhaust gas recirculation and stops the engine from shaking when the ignition is switched off.
