To skid row: Just ask actor Billy Bob Thornton if potatoes "are good for you". Sure, they're good to an extent, but eat them all the time and you can develop health issues like Billy Bob did from eating nothing but potatoes all the time. Apparently her and her family were lucky since they are them a lot, too.
I doubt he ever will take then down. Clara gets millions of views between all of her videos. Some of her videos get 4 million views each. We need Clara 🙏❤️
“If you’ve got good teeth it will be okay” 😂😂 there is something just so wonderful and lovable about her and people born during that time. They had a different way of seeing things. Just to hear them tell their stories ...it’s like coming home
Now we're pretty much in the same boat not as bad but atleast not as many homeless back then. Government and big banks made the depression they are doing it again.
I have no teeth at all anymore and my dentures don't work because my mouth is too small. I'm certain everyone would be surprised at just how much one can eat without teeth.
I have been watching these videos of Mrs. Clara for the past several weeks & it saddened me she had passed away several years ago. She reminds me of my grandma who is in poor health.
I have a Great Depression cooking project for school and I have to feed my father, my sister, my mom and myself for under $4.50. Your videos helped a lot! R.I.P. Clara ❤️
I think it is for one meal, which makes sense. Because I am sure they spent around the same per meal back then during the depression. of course it would be more like a quarter or less due to inflation.
Luke Posadas - $4.50 for one meal for 4 people, so about $1.11 per person. Should be entirely possible today, serving e.g. Pasta w/peas, rice w/lentils, chili sin carne or things like that, foods they used to turn to when they had little way back when and also I'm sure many turn to these foods today many places... ☺️
No kidding.. I live near Chicago & am currently looking for a way out 😂😂 Na.. But in all honestly.. Yes, yes times have changed. Stay safe everybody! 👊✌

The simplicity of it all almost brings a tear to my eyes. No dieting/keto/gluten free/vegan and other complicated terms, or counting calories, just pure simple cooking. And when people were lucky enough to grow their own vegetables I bet they tasted even better. I find most recipe books have complicated meal options. Will definitely try some of Clara's recipes.
We had a big garden when I was a kid. As soon as each vegetable would mature we’d start eating. One of the first was the leaf lettuce and radishes. A lettuce and mayo sandwich on a hot day is so good. Mom would make many different pickles and canned vegetables that would last all winter. Didn’t realize how lucky I was!

sammarkey I agree!! Unfortunately both of mine passed on years ago. Grandma Sue died in September 2013 from surgery complications (they went in to fix a hernia, and had a hard time getting her bleeding to stop. She slipped into a coma and died about a day or two afterwards). She was my dad’s mom. Grandma Hallie passed just months later in April 2014 of cancer. She was my mom’s mom. Miss them both terribly, and would wish I could hug them again 😔
This is real shit, I was driving home from work 5 years ago and I got a call saying my nana didn't have much time left. She passed 1hr after I said my goodbyes
My mom used to make this, but she would add shredded cheddar cheese, then mix it up, then pipette it back in. Delicious. I haven't had this for 40 years. I think I will this weekend. God bless Miss Clara. Thanks for sharing her memories with us.
I make twice baked potatoes at my store. We use potatoes, cheese, heavy cream, butter, bacon, sour cream, salt and pepper. We grind it together so it is a very smooth consistency and put it back in the shell. You then bake it for about 25 minutes. They are delicious.
FrancescaDonnaMarie your comment!! I’ve got to make some tonight now 😂 perfect cause I haven’t done shopping and all I really have left is potatoes and cheese.
My mom still makes them! Idk they had been around THAT long....we have them probably once a week. I just found her page like 3 days ago, too bad shes gone....
Most likely its because the nutrients were lacking in those potatoes. I once only ate potatoes for like 4 years, the lack of nutrients caused most of my hair to fall out and my skin to loosen. Also in my village we typically eat our elderly before they die of old age, grandmas like this are rich in vitamins and minerals.
One things for certain. Clara’s mama never sent her family to bed w their tummies growling. Both her parents did the best they could with what they had. What’s so amazing is the wedding photo of Clara’s mama and papa. Clara mother was SO VERY young when they married. Both still children themselves. Yet she still found a way to keep her family full and healthy using whatever her young husband brought home in pay. Times have certainly changed! I wonder what Clara‘s mama would think if she knew in the year 2022 people were still eating her depression recipes? Yes….Times have certainly changed…& will continue to do so forevermore
I love that she uses her old kitchenware for the videos. I imagine myself back in my grandmothers kitchen in the '70's and her cooking on an old Wedgewood stove with the same pots and pans she'd had since 1925. Happy memories!
Absolutely LOVE these videos. Shortly after getting married both my wife and I lost our jobs, 2008 downturn. Broke out my grandmother's cookbook and we lived on many is these same recipes. Saved our sanity as well as our lives.
We certainly WILL Remember with a heart full of love ….. isn’t she great 😊🥰😍. I hope you will keep us watching Clara love love to watch her cooking. Mmmmm 👍
I just found this lovely lady in August 2017. I thought she was in her 80s! I hadn't checked the date on the videos. Then she gave her age and I was amazed at her energy. It's wonderful that the videos live on in tribute to her memory. Her recipes remind me of some of the dishes I was fed as a child that included odd but very tasty ingredients. I just now realized my mother must've cooked those dishes during the Depression and was still cooking them in the 1950s when I was born. Ty to Clara's family for sharing your wonderful grandmother.
I just came across one of her videos yesterday and began watching them back to back. I didn't notice how many years ago they were made. Today, I saw the video where her grandson said she had passed away, in 2013. I didn't know her but I actually cried. I feel like I knew her. That may sound silly, but my heart is broken. I will continue to watch her videos. Please don't remove or stop posting them. ❤❤❤
No cheese, chives, bacon, sour cream, extra seasoning, etc, just a pure tasty grandma thing to eat, thank you Gramma❤️ I wish I could eat that right now

So wonderful. It's like being in the kitchen with a grandma. My mom was a depression era cooker also and she passed in 1997. I miss her so. Rest in Peace Clara.
I think we need a website where we can share recipes inspired by Clara. I just made a sweet potato soup that was inspired by Clara’s cooking. It was sooo good, incredibly easy, nutritious, of course! And I only started watching Clara last night. I watched about 10 episodes and read massive amounts of comments and like everyone said, you really feel good, and nostalgic too, after watching Clara. Thanks so much for making these vids, what a sweet lady!
SWEET POTATO SOUP SOUNDS DELICIOUS IM LEARNING MORE ABOUT COOKING FROM CLARA AND IM A GREAT GRANDMOTHER. LIKE HAVING MY GRAMS TEACH ME ITS VERY COMFORTING AND HEARTWARMING
I am absolutely in love with Clara. I know she has passed but I subscribed anyway. She's such a joy to watch, thank you for sharing her with us ❤️❤️ May she rest in peace knowing that she has touched the lives of so many people.
Bless her heart. I just recently found Clara’s youtube. She reminds so much of my Nonne who passed at the same age. Please keep her channel up as they are so enjoyed. Although they have passed, they are always with us! ❤️
Love these videos. I see in Clara my recently passed Grandmothers ( ages 95 and 100 ) so I do shed a tear. All of them had strength that goes beyond anything I can hope to achieve and an intrinsic kindness we would do well to emulate.
TH-cam just suggested this channel. I love the way she shares stories as she cooks! I see from comments she's no longer with us. God bless this family.
These videos remind me so much of my Great-Grandma Boyle and her kitchen. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Makes me teary-eyed. Thank you so much for your videos 💕💕 They’re so appreciated.
I don't think there is a video series that has made me as happy, as sad, and as grateful as this one. I am only disappointed I didn't find it earlier. Thank you Clara, and God bless.
My grandfather was Italian from Chicago. Maybe they all new each other 😁 my grand Aunt married someone from Philadelphia. I wish we could go to those old Chicago neighborhoods now
Thank you so much Clara, for sharing your life with us, the stories and the memories. You were a truly gentle soul, in a sometimes eye opening and harsh world. Listening to your stories, of another time and place, should be amplified to those who believe life is tough now, to those who want to do harm to others, and those who take life for granted. Thank you Chris, for sharing your grandmother with the world. She will truly be missed and loved by the masses. God bless you and your family, and this wonderful woman we all cherished.
I'm glad I came across these videos she was so sweet. I just watched the video that her grandson did for her after she passed he talks about how he got her to make the videos so glad he did. Rest in peace sweet lady.
It warms my heart to see this, my 98 year old great grandma just passed on two days ago, I am on my way home for the funeral. While I am saddened, 98 is a great age, so I can't complain. Keep on going Clara!
Just discovered this beautiful woman today and I conts stop binging her videos. She reminds me exactly of my Grandma Gilda and her Sister Aunt Josie. They both grew up during the depression and and knew how to make the best of any situation thrown their way. My grandma has been dead now for about 6 years but her older sister Aunt Jo is now 100 years old and she was the cook in the family for sure. She could turn very inexpensive ingredients into a masterpiece just like Clara. Anyway I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos they are not just recipes, they are a history of how special the Greatest Generation really was.
I love how in literally every video she's like "It's healthy. It's good for you". It's so precious!
Jay P my grandmas 68 and she says that haha. makes me smile ever time. she says it about chocolate and pop, man i love her.

This was Clara's last video before she passed on November 29th 2013. Thank you Clara! Rest in peace.
This was actually recorded in 2009, but her 98th bday vid was her last vid before she died
how did she go?

Kala Kupu this was the last video posted. This was certainly not the last video. There's one where her grandson says it's the last video of Clara. Xo

I was thinking the same thing. She uses the word 'rosy' in a few videos. Delightful!

So wonderful. It's like being in the kitchen with a grandma. My mom was a depression era cooker also and she passed in 1997. I miss her so. Rest in Peace Clara.
Yes, PLEASE never take down Clara's videos! Love learning her recipes and hearing her stories.
Will you share your recipe ?
SWEET POTATO SOUP SOUNDS DELICIOUS IM LEARNING MORE ABOUT COOKING FROM CLARA AND IM A GREAT GRANDMOTHER.
LIKE HAVING MY GRAMS TEACH ME ITS VERY COMFORTING AND HEARTWARMING
RIP, you beautiful soul.
Best surprise to see another video of Miss Clara's. I enjoy her practical wisdom and stories. What a gem!
I am absolutely in love with Clara. I know she has passed but I subscribed anyway. She's such a joy to watch, thank you for sharing her with us ❤️❤️ May she rest in peace knowing that she has touched the lives of so many people.
Hello Dear
How are you doing today?
Bless her heart. I just recently found Clara’s youtube. She reminds so much of my Nonne who passed at the same age. Please keep her channel up as they are so enjoyed. Although they have passed, they are always with us! ❤️
I love the stories of her family and childhood
Anybody 2019? And still miss her?
I love the light in this video. It makes it feel even more comforting
Love these videos. I see in Clara my recently passed Grandmothers ( ages 95 and 100 ) so I do shed a tear. All of them had strength that goes beyond anything I can hope to achieve and an intrinsic kindness we would do well to emulate.
Love Clara and these videos!! Reminds me of my Grandmother. Thanks for all of them.
happy heavnly birthday grandma clara
TH-cam just suggested this channel. I love the way she shares stories as she cooks! I see from comments she's no longer with us. God bless this family.
Hello Lori
How are you doing today?
These videos remind me so much of my Great-Grandma Boyle and her kitchen. ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Makes me teary-eyed. Thank you so much for your videos 💕💕 They’re so appreciated.
I don't think there is a video series that has made me as happy, as sad, and as grateful as this one. I am only disappointed I didn't find it earlier. Thank you Clara, and God bless.
I want a dvd! I miss her so much!❤❤r.I.p you sweet sweet lady Clara.
Such a beautiful woman and great stories she gives us. All are blessed who see her. I'm making those twice bakes.
I just discovered Miss Clara tonight, and I am in love. I'm several videos in now! Definitely going to try some of her recipes.
This has brought a world of viewing pleasure to me- she’s precious!
You don’t know how grateful I am for you! You’re amazing! My husband is Italian from Chicago, his dad lived through the depression
My grandfather was Italian from Chicago. Maybe they all new each other 😁 my grand Aunt married someone from Philadelphia. I wish we could go to those old Chicago neighborhoods now
I swear whenever I’m depressed I always find myself coming to her videos idk it just helps.
I hadn't seen this one. Thank you a million times for sharing her with us.
I just found Clara this year and I always watch her when I seek comfort. 💕
Lord knows I needed this video for my soul today.
I loved watching Mrs.Clara . As you see I still watch her videos.rest in peace.🌹
I love when she tells stories and smiles. Warms my heart ❤️ 😫
It warms my heart to see this, my 98 year old great grandma just passed on two days ago, I am on my way home for the funeral. While I am saddened, 98 is a great age, so I can't complain.
Keep on going Clara!
Rest In Peace you absolute legend. This appeared in my reccomended and I’m glad it did
It’s 2023 and I still watch these videos ❤️ They always brighten up my days.
