    This is the best video on collecting rough Ryders I have seen. So comprehensive and well done.
    Thrifty and Mr. Barlow’s vids inspired me to revisit traditional pocket knives after many years. In 6 months I went from having zero traditionals to about 100, mostly Rough Ryders, Queen and Marbles with some others mixed in. I wish I had known about Rough Ryder earlier. I have been into modern knives for the past 30 years and completely ignored traditional knives because I didn’t think they were practical.
    Having dipped my toe into these knives, I’m slowly learning what I like and don’t like. I don’t think I have the patience to collect 50 of the same knife with different handles but I appreciate the video. It was incredibly interesting to see how many different patterns they released over the years. It seems like Rough Ryder is having as much fun making these as we do collecting them.

    • @ThriftyKaniffy
      @ThriftyKaniffy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad you discovered traditionals. I find them to be far more interesting in general than modern knives, but that isn't to say I don't like moderns also. It's just that there are far fewer of them that pique my interest by comparison. Thanks for the comment kgriggs.

    Very Cool! Hope you can find that last one soon! BTW with your "Yellow Comp" or "Old Yellow" Series,. The knives originally came with the plain badge shield and would later show up with the "Double R" Badge. The Ocean Wave was really nice to see. From what Tony Watkins said, they somehow injected blue dye into genuine pearl for that series! Also I think you called your Genuine Stag Sowbelly a Stag Bone (around 7:34 ...maybe I misheard you or you misspoke.). These were released twice, you have the second generation Stag with the propeller shield. The first release featured some somewhat ugly stag and round shields. From what I understand, the same antler was used in both releases but in the second release they torched the antler to give it more character and color. I'm not sure if the Sowbelly was in the first stag go around. Thanks so much for sharing your collection. Not only was it impressive but very informative!

    Outstanding vid Thrifty! I think you have created a valuable reference source here. I love my RR’s! I think that in the near future they will command high collector value. The reason is not pleasant. Our relationship with China erodes daily and eventually we will not be able to avail ourselves of the “designed in USA/manufactured in China collaboration.”.

    Wow! Impressive! 46 out of 47! That Tobacco Road two-clips-and-a-spey wonky blade set is something I’ve seen on eBay from various companies. I have a Marbles version. I think it’s an old variation of the pattern, like the Bar J stockman - I call it the drunken stockman because of the odd angles of the blades. Roper makes one, so does Frost. I’m lucky/unlucky there exists only two of my favorite pattern - single blade bow trappers without the big R. Think of the money I’ve saved.
