I was very happy to see a new video from you, Jules! In mid-December, I bought more art supplies online that I don't really need from an art supply store in Ontario, including a few Roman Smzal pans that took my fancy, thanks to your love of them, Jules. :) They just arrived here in northern B.C. since we had a month-long Canada Post strike, and mail is still catching up. I haven't opened them yet and I can't for the life of me remember what colours I bought - I tucked them away to try them out this weekend. It'll be like Christmas again, only the gift is from me to me. 😄 Thanks again for your lovely videos! I watched the colour wheel one again and I'm inspired to try out some new wheels. :) oh, and happy belated new year!
Happy New Year Jules, nice to see you back and with some lovely Roman Szmal colours, also laughing at the tins, I have four Roman Szmal tins with 48 paints in each one in colour order like yours 😁😁 For the round paper, I like to do vignettes with a landscape in the centre and then a nice darker wash round the sides. Also good for a floral bouquet type arrangement or for just some random abstracts.
Thank you for all the videos you create!!! They are always great!!! I wish Roman Szmal would sponsor you and send you the new colors so you could do a showcase of them….
oooh, coins are an interesting idea. I bought round paper a couple of years ago, and now puzzle over what to do with it. I inherited my dad's coin collection and it could be fun (or aggravating) to try to replicate the more interesting ones, and then make imaginary coins... hmmm, thank you for the suggestions!
Great to see a new video! :) I've been loving your Roman Szmal swatching and colour comparison videos and your watercolour mixing videos recently. :) (Colour comparisons have been helpful in deciding which Roman Szmal paints to choose.)
@@chromaphile :D Currently looking to add some new earth colours to my Roman Szmal collection as a belated bday gift to myself..... and too much choice! Haha
Fun! I use similar flat palettes that I get from Jackson’s and remove the plastic insert and stick magnets on the pans to hold the RS full pans in place on the flat surface of the tin (thanks to Paint in Hiding!) Maybe paint a portion of a city landscape in the middle of the circle paper and have it fade off at the bottom? Clouds?:) thanks for the lovely color!
@@thecuriousb7615 With magnetic tape stuck to my pans I can easily switch them from one metal tin to another, creating temporary palettes or just change the order of colors in a tin. It's worth the commitment. Maybe you should try it.
Yes, oil pastel over watercolor works well. It can give nice texture to a piece and the texture of cold pressed watercolor paper works well with oil pastels.
I’m surprised how much I like the German raw umber greenish. And I liked your point about the merits of a convenience green mix in a yellowish green. Thanks for the video!

@@Mirrigold it's the perfect number of colours 😂 and thank you for the suggestions for the round paper!!

Haha, that would be nice. I've considered contacting them but always chicken out 😂

Sure!! it's the 13 well version of this palette: www.artemiranda.com/gb/holbein-empty-aluminium-watercolour-palette-boxes/3414
On the round paper, wreaths are great, snakes, coins, flowers….

@ That sounds awesome! It’s nice that you have those memories of your father to relive through his collection. ❤️

I relied on videos a lot when I was getting my first paints so I'm glad you're finding mine useful too :)

@agentxp0749 so true, they have a confusion of options 😂

I use the same palettes but stick the pans down with that sticky poster rack stuff so that I’m not committed to magnets stuck on the bottom of pans!
Great ideas, thanks for the lovely comment!!

Great! I'll definitely be trying it out
So good to see you back 😊
Rumours of my demise were greatly exaggerated 😂
Thanks for the video. :) I've been thinking about exploring watercolours and oil pastels too.😊
@@annenavas6603 I think they're probably a winning combo!

Glad you enjoyed it :D
Happy New Year! Wishing you a wonderful year filled with inspiration, joy and beautiful art moments :)
@@DianaMTula thank you, you too!
I think you could use this as a stand-alone palette, especially after watching Steve Mitchell use his new 6-pack from MaimeriBlu. Fun colors!
I'm sure someone could, I just don't think it's really my vibe - a lot of colours I'm out of my comfort zone with here!
I like these colours and would think they go together well! Thanks for sharing!🎨❤️
