- In this VLS Golf lesson from Todd Kolb, you are going to learn the secret on how to finally stop standing up through impact to help you get to a better impact position!
Learn how to stop standing up in your golf swing and improve your game with this simple tip on hip hinge golf technique. Say goodbye to topping the ball and hello to better shots! - กีฬา
I am 72 years old and a 16 handicap. I have tried these tips and I find they are really excellent, not only they are very simple to understand and execute, but they bring consistency and also accuracy. The impact of the club face with the ball becomes clean without any loss of energy. Great coaching!
We stand up because of the fear that we’re going to plant that club 6 feet underground.😂😂😂
Yep - that’s from trying to strike down at the ball, not swing thru the ball.
Great information it was well presented in an easy format to understand why standing up in a golf swing happens
We stand up because we are anxious to see where the ball goes , we look before we hit
Oh yes😂
And practicing on hard mats instead of grass
Checking in from Reno. 72 years young. Found your video yesterday. Took it out to the golf course and I gotta say it really worked great for me. I flared the feet a lot.I had more good iron shots in the game than anytime in years. Even my fairway woods I crushed. But the kicker was the head placement. I forgot about that. I was hitting my driver ok, nothing great. But then I remember that, and for the last 7 drives, everyone was long and stright. Right where i aimed. Best feeling I've ever had for a driver. A big thank you.

I'm a 70 year old golfer from Central Massachusetts. These are excellent tips and they will help keep us from standing up while we swing.

I am Raj from Mauritius and I tuned in to your program, tonight for the first time. I was amazed by the brilliant way you teach and make it so easy to follow your instructions. Thank you.
From Atlanta area. 76 year old, 20+ handicap and Maxvert owner. Watched this lesson this morning before playing. Great tips. The best for me was the head tilt. Sounds so simple but really made a difference on feeling more open to swing through and easier to keep the trail shoulder down and through the shot. Thanks.
Thanks for watching Larry and for purchasing the Maxvert! Be sure to send an email to nick@usgolftv.com and we'll get you a great discount on your next purchase!
Eighty year old golfer from Huntsville Alabama finding your videos very helpful. Thanks Todd.
We got you covered. If interested, check out our website at www.usgolftv.com for more content.
I am in St Augustine. I was having this issue this weekend. I was more focused on keeping my head down and never thought about foot positioning. Definitely something to take to the range.
Another great video - very helpful!
Watching from California. I was just talking to my mom about how she has a habit to do this. Sent her this video.
Thank you, very helpful tips

I'm 73 and from South Bend Indiana I just got back into golf after being out of it for 15 years and topping the ball has been an issue for me but now I understand what I need to do to correct it. Great Video thanks.

As a person who has never been able to golf much, but loves it... & does every possible thing wrong... hitting on top, missing the ball, LOL, etc... I LOVE YOU PEOPLE. Thanks for the video. I'm going to practice this when I set up my new golf tent in coming days... I'm getting all ready (when my work is done & the heat wave passes), watching these videos, so I can practice good swings, & not my usual mess, reinforcing mess, up here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, surrounded by the awesome Great Lakes
Our pleasure, golf is a challenging game that we have a love-hate relationship with. If you would lie to learn more, check out or book THE BAD LIE which you can find on Amazon.
Great tips! TY from California
Hello from Minnesota , stopped golf because I heeled 50% of the last round I played . Standing up and almost missing the ball on the heel. Foot spray powder in the face gave me that feedback . Can’t wait to try these drills .
Thank you for this video. I used these tips today and hit my driver and my 3/5 wood better than I have in a while. Shot in the low 90’s which is better than usual.
Great tips ! From Chicago
That head tilt works Great. I was tilting wrong. Great Info

Thanks for the instruction Todd. I'm in Norfolk, England. I especially like your "hip hinge" tip. I've just tried the swing in my living room with no club and no ball but I already like the feel on my backswing. My speciality is waist-high hybrid shots ... but only out on the course. On the range I hit them long and high. Very annoying!
Watching from central Michigan, thx for your lesson.
Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel. I used to play a lot of golf when I was younger, now I’m older and trying to get back to playing more and getting back to the basics. Your videos have helped. Thanks checking in from west central Illinois

Excellent content. I'm on Maui.
Brilliantly put across, many of the amateurs do this.
Hi Coach, and I hope you are well.
Many thanks, and once again, a great video.
Now, in Bucharest and tomorrow, head back to Dubai.
Sunday, I should be playing at Sharjah Golf Course, and I will be soooooooo rusty. This video should help me at the warm-up area before playing.
Best wishes to you, Nick, and all of US Golf TV for the weekend.
Great to hear from you. Sounds like the game is progressing! Keep up the great work.
Excellent job Todd in defining the problem and the solution to "topped shots!" I like your idea of "hip hinge" with the belt buckle pointing down, not forward or up when making a shot. Could having the ball too far forward also be problematic with "topped shots?" Well Done Todd!
Another quality lesson.

Tony from Covina California, I’ve been struggling with a dreaded shank with my wedges and it’s because I’m standing up in the downswing. I will definitely apply the pointers in this video. Hopefully it helps. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Thanks Todd. Love your videos, short and to the point. Other instructors take 15 minutes and longer to say less then what you do in 5 minutes.
Thank you, Nick and I do our best to provide good solid information in a fun an enjoyable way. More to come...
Hi Todd, John here on the south coast of England near Brighton! Great advice and I can see that I will need to be patient but already I'm topping say 5% less than when I started your tips. Rotation is a problem for me I broke my ankle last year I'm 74. I guess it is just time and steady practice, I'll keep you posted - many thanks for the drills!
You bet, be sure to let us know how they help!
Paul, from Bolton UK. This should help me as I do stand up sometimes and thin the ball. I now need to buy a belt.
Bill from Williamsburg, VA (California transplant 10 years ago). My main issue is, as someone suggested, keeping from digging a hole with my irons. Thin grass still here too.
I'm from Pennington Gap, VA. Bet you never heard of that one LOL. Thanks for the advice. One of my bigger issues is not staying down.
Greetings from Ireland I like your videos
Thanks! Hope you are finding the content helpful for your game. More to come...
Jack Nicklaus tilted his head toward his trail foot at address, not his lead foot. 5:35
I started doing the same thing and it’s because I’m right eye dominant and it makes a hell of a difference when you look at the ball from a different angle.
Yea, I noticed this also. I think he just made a mistake referencing Jack for this.
Jack pointed his chin at his trail shoulder….
Yeah, I just watched some videos to make sure-Jack literally tilts the other way.
Subbed mate best wishes from the UK 👍 definitely going to help flush my irons

Good video Todd. I'm guilty of losing hip hinge at time. I think getting too quick/losing tempo contributes. The pause at the top as you transition helps too. But definitely will try the head tilt. Bill from Chicagoland.

Nick here, from Manchester, UK. So do I want to set a pelvic tilt of pointing my belt buckle down to the ground at address?
Standing up has been a big problem for me. Thanks!
Me too, topping the ball mostly with my driver. Thanks
From Australia
Very enlightening. I'm 70 and I find it hard to have repeat muscle memory. The harder I try to correct, the deeper into trouble I go with my swing. Help.

Senior golfer from Bournemouth Dorset UK. I tend to have this problem but I always turn my head the other way as I am left eye dominant which I thought Jack Nicklaus did. Are you sure you're correct or do you turn your head to the left because you are right eye dominant?
Hi from Perth Australia how do I stop leaning back on the down swing with a driver I don't seem to do it with any other club cheers Julian 👍
68 year old in Texas. I have arthritis and lucky me.......bone spurs to boot. Rotation can be difficult some days and without proper rotation my feeble mind thinks I can get more power by raising up. I know that's false but it's a difficult habit to break.
i'm from Miami . shall we be friends ? maybe we can practice sometimes when we have chance .
Excellent!!!

I have a bad back so thats why I stand up. If I tried rotating on a slant toward the ball I'd snap something in my lower back. Some people I believe just dont have the physical ability to rotate on that slant.
I feel like good leg movement through the shot allows you to more confidently keep your torso down through impact.

I’m from central Connecticut. Do you need to move the ball back in your stance for higher numbered irons or can it stay in the middle?
