Please do a part 2. While watching this vid, I was doing what u recommended and it worked!!! It doesn’t seem like that much but I got an extra 7 likes and 5 more followers in the space of 3 minutes by using hashtags and talking to people! I’m defo going to give ur bookstagram a follow.

I’m about to start my bookstagram and this was so helpful! I used Instagram for personal posts and never rly followed many bookstagrams before, just booktube, so this was super super helpful

This is great! Super helpful tips for bookstagrammers. I really like your idea of sending a DM when you follow someone. I’ve never tried that and am definitely going to. I really REALLY want booktube to grow as well. I think there’s so much potential for influence, education, and to get people into reading that weren’t before (kind of like the makeup community has done.)

this is really useful!!! i'd kind of given up on instagram/bookstagram because the platform was giving me a headache, lol, and i love making videos for youtube. however, i do like taking pictures and i know that instagram has a lot of cool people on it, so maybe i'll give it another try. thanks for making this video!

Community is everything- support other bookstagrams and make connections

Look at the followers of your favorite bookstagrams to find other pages you love and maybe shoot them a DM and share some support. Offer to collaborate!

HASHTAGS! They are essentially bookmarks and are helpful when you want found- aim for hashtags w between 1000-10,000 views of the tag so you dont get totally lost in the flood of tags
(You can also go to posts you’ve also posted and comment your hashtags on those too-Ik it works Ive tried this one)

Have a theme- a color scheme or a filter to tie the pictures together or something similar. It provides a great aesthetic and ppl love the organization of it

Plan out your page with an Insta planner app to see where you can improve the aesthetic of your page

Username to tie people in (clue them in and let them know you’re a bookstagram/personal blogger/lifestyle account/ etc)

Post everyday (or every other) but make sure to be on a schedule

Get people engaged! Ask a question on your posts to get comments and a convo started with viewers!

I’m dragging my heels about having a colour scheme even though I know it makes sense - my bookstagram account is @shhitsalibrary
shhitsalibrary yea, it’s tough, especially with all the different colors in all the beautiful book covers. Having a preset/filter for all the photos is the easiest way I think :) and it makes sure they all look cohesive together!

How do you collaborate with bookstagrammers?
I actually did do dms but the issue is since they rejected me now I cant dm ppl and which is literally a loss
aw! Then I would just comment on people's photos, I am sorry. Normally if instagram restricts your DMs they will lift it eventually. Make sure you don't send too many at once or copy and paste the same message, the instagram algorithm will pick up on that and it will hurt your account. But comments are always good! (:

I started doing this and commented on a lot of peoples pictures to show support and have convos about books but then TH-cam blocked me from commenting 😭 I heard this happens to new accounts :/
Lavender Reads aww yeah! I do not suggest just going and doing this to a ton of accounts, I suggest to find accounts that you really love and follow and interact with them throughout the day (not one big burst, also it's easier to keep track of connections you make when you do this slower). Get to know them and do collabs. It is harder, though, because even genuine engagement can be flagged as spam by Instagram nowadays!:(

Aw yay! I'm glad you found the video helpful. You can always use a pretty blanket as your background, or a plain wall, or take photos outside. Just keep your color scheme and editing consistent and plan your feed ahead of time so that the photos look good together on your page. Hope that helps!
