I wanted to honor the legacy of Mario 64’s cultural impact. The composer KeeerKaiju worked upped something special for this. The song Scatman used is actually from another song that has also been used for the popular song “Christmas Canon”.

I'm sure somebody has already mentioned this in the comments, but the crops of Waluigi from the screenshots come from Mario Party DS. Same with the Piranha Plant, he just put a cropped 64 DS Wario over it.
Perhaps the true Waluigi was the friends we made along the way.

It's crazy that you said that... I made my best TH-cam friend back in 2010 when I commented on a video about Waluigi in the game. We talked everyday and had our own websites. Eventually we lost contact and when I tried finding him years later I think he was a murderer or something idk

This was just simply beautiful. So many touches that didn't have to be in but made the video fantastic. Love the attention to detail and also the quality of the coverage. It takes me back to a simpler time and also thank you for putting scatman in the background at the end that is basically the theme song of sm64 culture and super nostalgic

Great video. Been thinking about Waluigi in SM64DS for a long time, ever since I was little trying to figure out how to unlock him. It was so fun going home after school, instantly opening my DS and trying to new techniques and rumors towards unlocking him. This video captures the heart of the fun back then. Subscribed!

THIS this was pretty much the 2000's kids version of Luigi in sm64 but this time we were desperately on the hunt for Waluigi who of course knowing now never existed, though i believe he was considered at some point but Miyamoto nixed the idea because Waluigi must forever be trapped in spin off purgatory.

Oh wow, this is really well made! I remember finding out about WwwWario through this Rumor in particular, which then made me see FNaW and... let's just say the butterfly effect happened.
Hopefully some day we get another source code leak revealing Waluigi to be in SM64DS, but at the end of the day, I don't think we even need him to be in the Game. Just the idea alone is interesting enough to where anyone can make up their own ways to get Waluigi.
I wish we could do that with a Modern Game instead of it being instantly data-mined and having any if not all rumors debunked besides the ones that weren't rumors.
I guess that's just how the world progresses

He has a good message. It’s fun testing out new things in games, even if only a handful of people actually care about them. The rumors surrounding them may not always be true, but it’s still fun to test them out and try something new. It’s one of the ways people keep games alive.

7:48 calling it the source code is sorta true, but because of the disassembly project happening around the same time makes your statement a little misleading.
What was found was some project files, but not all of them (basically uncompiled files that would've been used to be compiled into the final game). Kind of like how editing a video involves multiple files that end up as 1 complete video after rendering. It's just that we didn't have the entire project, just assets (so in this case, Luigi's model, and a separate file for his textures)
