Throughout the years there have been a lot mario games like super mario world, super mario 64, super mario sunshine, new super mario bros, new super mario galaxy, super mario 3d land, super mario 3d world, super mario run, super mario bros 3 and not too long ago they released the new super Mario odyssey for the nintendo switch which has all kinds of new characters like cappy and locations like the sand kingdom, new donk city and bowsers kingdom. In these games we have seen power ups like the fire flower, ice flower, super mushroom, mega mushroom, super star, hammer suit, spring mushroom and way more. But there were power ups that helped mario, luigi, toad, princess peach, rosalina and the others to escape bowser, the broodals, koopalings and bowser jr. Another thing that I have always considered strange is that there are green, yellow, red and purple dots on the floor of the rec room. These all match the colours of each character. The fact that there is a purple dot surely cannot be a coincidence.

@@cabrinius That door was such a big piece of "evidence" for many since like.. the full game it's just a single star for the effort.. but also that effort is just getting 4-5 shiny rabbits as either all the characters or just Yoshi or something.. which is actually how a stage would go in the game
@@BaconNuke if it's a star then why didn't they make it one of those secret rooms? Perhaps it led to a different section of the castle as some point?
I remember going to a large-scale convention-thing when I was little, talked to a bunch of kids about Mario 64 DS, and one of them told me about how he had Waluigi and how he got it, and then refused to tell me how to actually perform the steps. Over time my little heart broke when I realized it was never real :(

This was my biggest mystery as a kid. I was fully convinced waluigi was unlockable. Everything from the fake profile prizes screenshot and all the hidden methods people made up, I believed them all. So after trying multiple times, you can imagine how disappointed and upset I was to find out it was all fake. There's so many purple spots in game though that I find it hard to believe that waluigi was at one point planned or at least considered as a playable character, but Nintendo cut him early in planning so that's why he's not in the game files.
I use to believe these videos of people jumping into this square shadow that you have to wall jump into like a painting outside the castle, I could never reach it 😭

I agree with you. Mario has his rival who’s playable in Super Mario 64 DS, but why not Luigi as well? I would love to Okay Waluigi! His time to shine with the plumbing quartet will come very soon, I feel it…
Sadly they don't even put Wario in the games so until they do that I won't have any hope for Waluigi. They prefer to put Rosaline or various colored Toads instead and that if there’s even a different character playable that isn't Mario because sometimes not even Luigi is playable.

I'm not hating on Rosalina or anything I'm just saying that game was the perfect opportunity to implement more characters, I understand having all those characters was enough but in the switch version they could've added more.

Luigi has been in the gamecode however the graphics couldn't handle it. Every copy of Super Mario 64 is Personalized.
100 % completion to unlock Waluigi is as bogus as those claims saying you can unlock Sonic and Tails if you manage to hit all the names in the credits for Melee.

Or by killing 10 Fighting Wire Frames in Cruel Melee. But it was that very April Fool's joke that spurred people's dreams to have Sonic as a playable character in Smash, and that dream became a reality in Brawl.

I instantly knew the whole video was satire as soon as he said the N64 didn't sell well as if it wasn't the first console with 3D graphics and wasn't in almost everyones home. Not to mention SM64 sold more copies then most modern games now adays. The whole video is bogus.
Waluigi needs his own game, something really weird but wholesome
Mario 64 DS was like the 2nd Mario game I ever played when I was a kid so I never realized how much of an oddball choice Wario was for this game. I originally thought Wario was just like the 3rd brother or something. Naturally, it only made sense that Waluigi was in this game, especially with how well hidden Luigi and Wario were. I went through like two playthroughs before actually finding Luigi.

That’s the same for me, I grew up on SM64DS so I never even knew Wario was a bad guy until I got to know the franchise.
What I think Waluigi's stats would be if he was in the game:
-Fastest run.
-Rather weak (can still break objects.)
-Jump height is about the same as Mario (jumps are floaty, but cannot hover like Yoshi and Luigi)
-Can squeeze through narrow areas.
-Punching moves him forward, slightly. (punch knock-back is moderately far, but not like Wario)
His power-flower power-up would be to attract any enemies, items, or coins like a magnet, but the radius would be small to prevent it from being over-powered.
This would be good for speedrunning. Good job.
I'm working on a rom hack (yes, still in 2022) and i think ima put waluigi on it, maybe i can use these stats :) but i have no idea how to make the power-up..

@@Veddy1674 You can probably hire someone who's really good with programming to add the magnetic power up into your hack. Maybe even Kaze.
He should have the highest jump and be a little slower than Luigi or Yoshi

Maybe Waluigi was planned at some point, but was scrapped. All of his files were removed, and Nintendo either forgot to get rid of the fourth door and purple dots on the floor, or left them in as a tribute.
Waluigi should be the main villain of a Luigi's Mansion game.
King Boo Is Luigi's Arch-Nemesis, While Bowser Is Mario's! Also, Waluigi Is Not Considered As A Villain Anymore (just like wario), So He Deserves His Own Game As Well

But Also, Wario Being A Villain Was His Videogame Origin, And That's Why He And Waluigi Are Not Considered Villains Anymore (instead they play some sports and parties)! But In My Personal Opinion, I Still Don't Think Waluigi Can Be Great To Be A Villain In A Luigi's Mansion Game, Since He's Not A Ghost Or Monster, But I'm Sure He Could Be A Good Villain In An Official Game Called "Super Luigi Land" (that fits well with him since we have daisy in these series)

Super Mario 64 DS is one of the games that made my childhood... so I was there when Waluigi rumors were all over early TH-cam.
I specifically remember one regarding Tick Tock clock. This rumor actually scared me a little for some reason, it was something like... doing a bunch of things (collect coins, stars, etc) and then doing a specific star in Tick Tock clock. If you did all correctly, Waluigi's portrait would appear in a very weird spot in a wall on the very top of the clock level (where a yellow box of coins or star is usually found)
This level always scared me out, and I remember climbing on top hoping to see that portrait, but I was super nervous. Obviously said image never appeared... hahah aww

I can see what you mean when you say it scared you. There are random things in games that usually shouldn’t scare you, but they scared me as a kid as well. For example, the waterfall in the N64 version of the game. I used to think as a kid that it takes you to Hazy Maze Cave if you go close enough to it, so because of that I was too scared to go near it.
Waluigi getting into a main series game is VERY unlikely. Miamoto himself hates Waluigi. Waluigi was created only to be a doubles partner for Wario. There is too much against him despite fan outrage.
Miyamoto didn’t create him, but he created the other three. That’s why he hates Waluigi, he’s literally like the adopted red headed step child of the Mario franchise.
Hello, In the making of my mod "Mario 64 DS Remastered" I was looking into the collision models of Mario 64 DS and I saw the box hole IN THE COLLISION MODEL. It was not pivoted but it was RIGHT there.

i used to think instead of waluigi, you'd be able to play as Peach if you did the following
Got all 150 stars ( i did that )
Caught EVERY Rabbit ( also did )
Got Max amount of lives by any means necessary ( Hazy Maze cave is best place to grind lives bc i couldnt do the Whomps Fort glitch )
Looked at the glass portrait of Peach outside the castle for a full minute, then a jingle would play meaning you unlocked Peach...sadly i fooled myself...
The Whomp's Fort glitch only works on 1.0. You may have 1.1

Fun fact: there's actually an unused 6th rabbit in SM64DS, it's not purple though, this rabbit has a cyan color.
It's something I discovered last year while looking at the rabbit model, I was quite confused it wasn't found sooner.

I always wished the game had gone with you starting as Mario, and found Luigi, wario, and waluigi. Yoshi is cool but waluigi makes more sense
I always questioned myself why that "box" was in the file select screen and not in the castle itself. Devs should be more aware of this kind of things so they don't end accidentally in the final game. And like that box, some of the changes made in SM64DS' beta were pretty weird, like, yeah, they did change some stuff in the castle in the final game in comparison to the original SM64, but you can clearly see how the castle was meant to be completely redesigned in early builds of the game, i wonder why they did things like that in the first place.
well during development a lot of companies create a million ideas, cut a lot of it due to time and man power, and than we are only left with the best ideas, wind waker is another good example of this
An early built of the castle that was accidently not removed from the file select screen, Or they just did not have a newer screenshot, Or they just deleted the new one... OR they used an 1996 screenshot.

This was the DS kid era equivalent of Mew under the truck in the Gen 1 Pokemon, not nearly as big but for awhile people believed it.
We all need to make this a mission. If ANY OF US, gain more publicity, we need to interview a nintendo employee or something, someone big who would know about n64 DS. Ask "Everyone wants to know....the white door...it was MEANT for waluigi....but time constraints or something along those lines that waluigi was going to be in the game?"

How to unlock Waluigi in Super Mario 64 DS.
Go down Peach's Slide in 30 seconds.
Then go down the Ice Slide in 1 minute.
Then go down the Big Tall Mountain Slide in 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Then go to the front of Peach's Castle and find a Mew under the Truck parked outside near the bridge.

I love this video because I didn't know such a rumor was even on the internet and the reason is when I was a teenager when this game was released where I lived didn't have high-speed wireless internet.
That hole in the castle wall was an image ingrained into my brain for many years it kinda scared me too.
I remember when I was really young, always trying to figure out how to get Waluigi in the game. I tried to collect every coin as Luigi and Wario or something. It was a long time ago, so I don't completely remember what I tried to do. Spoiler alert, I never unlocked Waluigi.

I remember some of these things from like 2012 when I was young, one was daisy locked in a castle pillar behind a door that was removed during development
This game is an absolute gem to come out never played the 64 version but I fondly remember the DS version more and liking the graphics and gameplay more thank god I still have a Ds and this game never gonna sell it

I don’t know if you’ve ever played Sonic Rush but this kid made me believe when I was younger that you can perform Sonic and Blaze’s power moves when they begin to fight each other (tornado, and flames from the ground) to this day I still don’t know if it’s even possible.

One day i heard from a nintendo official that they were planning to add waluigi in the game however they didnt because they didnt have enough capacity in the game files and so it was scrapped.Its one of the reasons why there is a purple dot in the floor of rec room, the fourth door is empty,(it was supposed to be for waluigi) and ofc the purple rabbit in the beta version

ALL MINIGAMES include the ones unlocked by the purple rabbit therefore another character would probably be unlocked, my theory is the purple rabbit would be unlocked after 100% the game and you would have to 150% the game by finishing the final purple rabbit minigames
I tried to unlock Гuigi but didn't have the skill to fulfill the requirements. BTW a friend of mine said he unlocked the rabbit as character, but I forgot how it worked.
If I had to guess, I think they planned for him to be in it early on, but just ended up leaving him out, prolly due to the fact that his being tall could've messed with things or something (i mean, he IS 7'7)

I thought the reason why we don't see Waluigi in the main-line games was because he was created specifically for the spin-off titles? Granted, that's not a great excuse for his exclusion up until now.

They probably intentionally didn’t include waluigi to make a mystery, just like how people made theories about Luigi being in the original, or they ran out of time or something
Honestly there was so much evidence supporting that he was in the game that it genuinely wouldn’t surprise me if there was a lost Beta version with him in it or if Nintendo actually wanted him as a secret character after 150 stars but scrapped the idea mid development.
- the logo has 5 colours. Red (mario), Green (Yoshi and Lugi), Yellow (Wario), and Blue (which was supposed to be a cool sky backdrop.). The 5th colour Hidden in the blue is non other than Purple.
- 4 doors despite the 4th being useless after its star is gathered.
- The Purple Rabbit. Which btw that actually made it into the final game’s manual so it’s probably the best evidence we have:
- Purple Spots on the prize corner despite them representing no character.
Tbf though ,im pretty certain he was never planned to be one of the main characters, possibly due to hardware limitations and/or Lack of ideas.
When I was Younger, I was playing super Mario 64 the ds version, but when I was going to the waterfall I think, then I was in a small room, but I seen princess peach there and then I think I seen waluigi there capturing her than that’s what I think I remember.

I have a theory on why Waluigi is not left over in the file, because maybe Waluigi was plan to be during the Alpha development as the character you start with instead of Yoshi, because Nintendo wanted to avoid having a refrence to the Alpha of the original Super mario 64, in a single player game it would not make sense that waluigi is the week one since it would contradict what they did in Mario party 3 where Wa Luigi punch Bowser and send Bowser all the way to the moon, so they ad no choice to replace it in the Alpha development with Yoshi instead, and since it was the alpha development they where able to remove all file of it, before the beta development. This is just a theory.

me and my cousin use to think that the one hallway with the character doors and their initials, we thought the white door was waluigi’s door and once u had whatever to unlock it it would turn purple but sadly he doesn’t exist in the game

Somebody thinks to himself "Luigi wasn't in SM64, so wouldn't it be funny if I created a similar rumor about the DS version?" So he looks at the characters and sees that Waluigi is a character obviously could have been in the game, makes a post or video about it, and here we go again.
Me and my brother used to speculate if Waluigi was in the game or not, one day my brother sent a letter asking Nintendo and a couple months after they responded to us the fan questions in their Nintendo magazine, and they said that no.
I think they were going to add waluigi but they thought 4 characters was better than 5 in puzzle's and stars so the game would be easier

I suspect that Waluigi is never planned into it, but people are so desperate for him being playable in a non party game, they decided to believe that he is originally planned.

That Black Box on the outside of the castle, at least among my friends, did have the Waluigi rumor attached to it, but we just thought it was a breakable one that Wario breaks throughout the game and it would be a bonus picture like how you get the other characters.. but we never could do anything with it since Wario couldn't jump high enough and break it (ie triple jump maybe could have gotten there but you couldn't punch or kick while flipping)
That "Purple Prizes" article totally got out of hand because many probably saw it, shared it and then layers of disconnect later people that had no way of seeing the original never got in on knowing the truth
the working title of 4X is most likely reference to four characters. that pretty much puts the bed the question of if waluigi was ever planned to be a fifth character.

Maybe 4 main characters, it wouldn’t necessarily rule out unlockables or side characters. Remember, some publications of smash bros said there was only 4 characters as well. Also, Waluigi was original considered but was later replaced by yoshi during development afaik

Knowing the purple rabbit picture was an early version screenshot makes me think that, maybe, the rabbits that appear when you play as Wario were going to be purple instead of orange.

That's normal, waluigi is just a secondary caracter made for Wario in Mario tennis or in double Dash

If i remember correctly, The game only features "brothers", and Waluigi, is NOT Wario's brother, but it's a guy that Wario hired cuz he felt alone...which got into a more intimate story..bringing us to them being known as brother while they actually are not. Same reason he's not in Super Smash *Bros*.
