Since 2014, no business has taken off in India. Unless something changes in 2024, stuff will remain the same.

Even budget airlines pay huge salaries to pilots and aircraft crew to another level and host in expensive hotels for layovers. How come they could survive it as a business. An average Indian looks at it as an upgrade over the train for 2 hours. They just want to get from point A to point B. If airlines had to get successful, they had to find pilots and crew who could manage with average Indian salaries. Since ATP doesn't have any alternative either, they have an alternative to buying planes from a local manufacturer.
    * Cut down crew salary to somewhere like loco pilots of Indian railways.
    * Cut down on crew accommodation.
    * Cut down on passenger amenities.
    * If possible, cut down on seat cushioning (for domestic routes) and size to fit more people. (If safety permits).
    * Instead of airlines, start behaving just as a mode of transit (you don't have competition with other airlines but Indian railways). Crew size is what makes railways expensive and air travel cheap. You don't have to build infrastructure in Air.
    * Railway is lacking supply to demand ratio in long distance commute. Airlines will always be upper edge for commute over 1000 km even if HSR get introduced.

You have forgotten NEPC Airlines. I have purchased a ticket from Bagdogra to Kolkata. But the flight never came from Kolkata. The Airlines hired a bus from Siliguri and sent us, who are willing, to Kolkata. That was the last of NEPC. But they refunded my money.

In recent times, High crude oil price and Modi government has imposed high excise duty on ATF are the main reason of problems in lndian aviation lndustry.
Also high level of corruptions (Both Govt. and private airline companies) and mismanagement of business owners are the main reasons of faliure of lndian aviation industry.
