Perfect Jenn! The Civil War part of Vicksburg deserves its own video. What Grant accomplished was amazing. Except trying to change the course of the river. Well done!😊
We just passed your car in Blytheville Arkansas (we are passing thru) just looked this channel up, we’re laughing because this is EXACTLY the sort of thing we watch at home & that I play on tv at my barbershop!! Just clicked subscribe, looking forward to watching!! ❤❤
I had family members on both the Union and Confederate sides. So sad that our nation had to go through such turmoil and bloodshed. Great video and I learned so much. You are really good at explaining how everything happened and the consequences. Fascinated by the info on the Cairo and the 14 year old who took his job to heart. Thank you!
Loved this video. I stood on those same steps at the Illinois memorial. I probably spent 30 minutes there. I really loved the Cairo museum. Was so amazing seeing the artifacts they have there. Thank you for sharing this video
First ship to be sunk with electronically detonated mine! I had family members in Vicksburg. Confederate. I love the story of the Siege of Vicksburg. I do hope you bring up the camel or the slave that was blown out of the Confederate works over the union line and survived! Yankee troops put him in a tent and charged other soldiers to see him. So many interesting stories from that battle.
@@WalkwithHistory Confederates placed a chain across the Mississippi River and built this camp to protect Baton Rouge. It was the longest siege (48 days) in U.S. history, with 12,000 KIA!
My great great great uncle Martin Greenhalgh Ellison served with the 2nd WI Cavalry, Company E. He was captured in a skirmish at the Yazoo River. Part of the Vicksburg campaign
My great grandfather, Abraham Curtis Forney, was a member of the 80th Ohio Inf Regt, during the seige of Vicksburg. I had no idea there was a Confederate Gen named Forney who was there opposing him.

Good sound track ! 👍

Next time you are around Vicksburg, please visit Champion's Hill and Chickasaw Bluffs. The South lost once the Mississippi fell.
Absolutely!!! Thank you for the suggestion
Good video!
If you get a chance, go see Port Hudson in Zachary, Louisiana.
The siege lasted 48 days!
Good idea!

History is amazing. What a neat family tie!
Jen, what's the name of the song you played in the video?
There were a couple. The one at the end was "Morgan St. Douglas - Fight Like Hell"
@@WalkwithHistory That's the one! Thanks!
Or how the 4th of July wasn't celebrated in Vicksburg until after World War II
Yup! We mention that on our podcast Talk with History😊
