I've used so many thermostats and this is definitely the worst. A simple temperature change should be press a button or two, but that ain't the case with this crap.

This is the worst thermostat I have ever owned. This came pre-installed in our condo unit. After being told it was $200 just to get the wifi app, we thought we'd rather just invest $200 for a Nest. Of course, that isn't compatible with the way the building is set up. So we seen stuck with this complicated piece of junk. How idiotic that you have to press all these buttons just to adjust the temperature. And most of the time can't even tell if the change worked. We were better off in the days of turning a dial with a little pointer. You heard the air kick on and you were good. This fancy thermostat is useless and I hate it. Worst thing about our home.
Thx a lot for this comment... I was about to email them about the wifi app since I wasn't able to find a place to register for an account. Decided to do some more research before emailing them (their phone line has such a unclear voice that I just gave up). Now I guess I'll have to manually set it up, cuz I'm not paying 200 dollars for this crappy software in an apartment that I'm renting.

I think i successfully figured how it works (by myself after 2 days pulling my hair lol, not by this video or by contacting Unilux - their guide was completely confusing). It's simpler than we all think, Im leaving it here so it may save others' time and the frustration. So the VFC basically has 2 modes of working: Program Hold (displayed as P. Hold) and On Schedule (Displayed as "On Sched") , and then there's the third mode of "Temp Hold" (displayed as T. Hold, definitely doesnt mean temperature hold!) for temporary hold whatever settings you want but ONLY untill the time for next scheduled program. Initially the control board was set in the stupid On Schedule all the time, which kind of makes it more confusing and made us wonder whether the change we applied actually works because they'd switch to the next preset scheduled settings when the scheduled time (specific time on each day of the week) comes, instead of keeping the settings we just entered. However the way we usually use the control board of any HVAC is that we want a specific temperature until we change it again - which in this HVAC control board is the Program Hold mode. To switch on the Program Hold, please (STEP 1) press MF button once - the Program Hold option will show (dont worry if you over clicked or lost counts, just keep clicking the MF button, it will shuffle back to that Program Hold option) then press OK button to enter Program Hold settings, (STEP 2) change temperature as you wish with the up and down arrow button, then press OK to allow it to take effect. Done! Enjoy!
P.S: This system is really bullshit, most of the time when it went wrong, very few handymen can work with it, replacement parts are extremely hard to find, and the fixing is like gambling. In the same building, the vendor came to fix our exhaust fan (which had a defective board) said that we were lucky that it worked, for many other households in the same building it just went dead and nobody knows why or how to fix it. The vendor was exclusively contracted with a large number of new buildings by this giant developer since the launching and has all resources necessary to fix it, including the expertise and directly connected support from Unilux brand itself
Who designed this? They need to be fired. On top of the fact that it's a freaking expensive device, it is overly complex, lacking any intuitive operation, and only adds insult to injury with the fact that it requires an additional 200 dollars (+ tax) to make the wifi functional. Why would you not just include it? The device boasts that its wifi enabled on the very front of it, but its not! I would strongly suggest against buying this device. You can get other, more intuitive devices out there, with wifi built in, for about the same price if not better at Home depot or online from Amazon. DO NOT BUY
Just to follow up... I got the wifi to work after poking around a bit. The app makes it easier to setup a schedule and adjust settings. Nonetheless, I still think the whole process is confusing and obfuscated to the average person. Whoever is the person that made the decision to use the current setup should be ashamed of what they have made.

This is awful. I watched and tried this twice, and still freezing in my home. Why is this so badly designed? They could at least have the decency to offer the app free.
This is by far the worst thermostat ever made. I think they intentionally made it this way so you have to buy the app otherwise there is no way anyone can ever come up with a worse interface even if they try.

Finally a thermostat to control fan coil system from unilux system but why does if have to be so complicated to use. Not intuitive at all. I hope the wifi app control can make up the user friendliness of the thermostat. Imagine u want to change setting on the spot. I will be close to smashing it. Not cheap either $200 a pop.
I'm an aircraft electrical systems engineer and this is the most backwards, counterintuitive and pointlessly complicated piece of junk I've handled. Someone's nephew must have got the contract to install these pieces of garbage.

Worst thermostat i've ever came across. I have been sitting here trying to fix this piece of shit for the past 3 hours
This unit is pre-installed with the new condo I bought and it is fucking trash. Why do I need to press so many fucking buttons just to change my temperature?? Like other user mentioned above, it will literally take almost 1000X of pressing the buttons to set up a full schedule (which is not even full). What are you guys thinking honestly? WIFI ENABLED??? where? How? When? Piece of shit.
Update: I actually sold my condo and left because of this piece of shit. LMAO 🤣
Why should I buy the wifi add on for $$$ instead of simply buying an ecobee or nest that will work WITH WIFI ... OUT OF THE BOX???

😅 When will Unilux release a simple easy-to-follow instruction video for the no-button touchscreen UNILUX TA640FCW-ULX HVAC thermostat? Nothing about management of this thermostat is straightforward. The manual and the unit do not seem to acknowledge each other😢. This unit has caused me a lot of praying …… each time I touch it I pray for a miracle. Not much success so far😅

To turn the fan back on, please press MF until you reach your desired fan setting.
Unilux VFC probably pres MF 5000000 times. Then press ok.
@@uniluxvfc592 please let your design team know they did a crappy job. For example, changing the temperature should just be pressing a button or two, not MF a million times.

Why would anyone install this thermostat, it is so hard to use. It came with the condo and will most likely have future replacement issues.

Can you delete programs? I don't want each day to have 4 programs.

Thanks for your comment. You can't delete programs with the current functionality. If you're looking to only have one or two programs per day, you can use the same mode (heat/cool) and set temperature as the previous program. You don't need to worry about the times. This will maintain the same consistent comfort settings.
If you want the same settings the entire time the fan coil is in operation, you can choose to use a permanent hold.

We had this thermostat for 1.5 yrs now and it burn the backlight when we had a blackout. I check around if i could used other thermostat, nothing so far. If only i can figure out the 4 wires r connected and what individual wires controls maybe i can throw this piece of crap in the garbage.

5 years later and I'm adding to the list of complaints this so called company has. Terrible device and does not work at all.
You should give a free Universe thermostat for any poor sucker who has had to deal with this cheap trash. It's 2023 and I'm dealing with a thermostat that someone's grandparent made in 1982. The fact that you still allow condo developers to buy and install these does nothing but harm your brand.
