I went from CG active to AFRES. Holy cow what a difference. CG was much more job oriented than protocol. AF was 90% protocol 10% job. I didn’t last long. Couple years.
@@youraveragejoe2 I actually went army infantry for a few years. I’m getting out now. I’m glad I chose infantry since it was something I think I would have regretted not doing. I think the coast guard is a great option. But I’m done being enlisted. The military offers some good opportunities for young people if they can focus on their goals be it inside or outside in the future.
Every service has a different doctrine that suits its mission requirements. CG is a very small service and depends heavily on quick critical thinking. Not aware of other branches that can put a 19/20 year old with 2 years of service in charge of a million-dollar boat, and enforce U.S. federal maritime laws without question. Don't cut the AF people short. Very smart (and education-focused) people. Here's it comes... Back in my day.. as a RM/TC, we did ALL the computer-related stuff and even some of the TT's stuff (but only when they were not at the unit and we needed it fixed now). But all that came with me when I retired, I ended up spending 10 years as a Sprint switch tech in a central office. I did what TT's would kill for. But later own, went back into the IT world and I'm doing what I was doing everything he mentioned about jumping around from one type of job to another. Sounds like he enjoys the mix and clearly, he's not board. Good luck. 73's
Good video, you should interview a airforce maintainer. A lot of people don't realize this but the two sides of the airforce are computer/ tech jobs and maintenance being the largest group. You also get a bigger picture of what's it's like to be around the more hands-on the side. Your videos are awesome 👍
Thank you so much. This made my day actually. I really did enjoy doing this. I have my own channels on different sites. Currently however, I am engaged in other obligations, but will eventually get back into discussions on other topics.
What do you think are the best exercises to practice before going to Coast Guard boot camp? (Other than Pushups,sit-ups, the Run, and swim) Leaving soon for boot camp. Love the videos! The CG Survival Guide ebook is also very helpful.
Honestly, for any Boot Camp, building your posterior chain with something like dumbbell or kettlebell swings, and doing multi-joint exercises such as the "Big Three", and variations of the Olympic Lifts, can help you. You don't necessarily have to go heavy, just do them right. And low-impact cardio (because running is hard on joints) done in HIIT fashion. Mobility and Flexibility for injury prevention.
I am looking to join the CG after I get married. Can you do a video on how it is being married in the CG. This is all new to my wife and I. I am 26 years of age btw. Thanks bro, keep the videos coming!
