    Hi Teo, May I ask a few questions about the hatches you used?
    1. Are they waterproof/watertight?
    2. What brand hatches did you use
    3. What did you seal them with - The black stuff!!!
    I had a crack in my Lugger and had to cut into the mid-ships bouyancy tank but rather than have some porthole inspection hatches I think I may as well use the space and install some larger hatches.

      Hi Dave!
      I'm sorry to hear about that!
      The hatches are NOT 100% waterproof. If underwater for 5 minutes maybe just under a 1/4 pint will get in the tank
      The brand is Nuova Rade, made in Italy and I got them from Waveinn.
      The black stuff is Fischer MS Nautic.
      Cheers,
      Teo

    Great Videos and you have built a really nice looking GIS. I am interested in the side seats/tanks. Great idea , I think I will do the same. I'm currently considering how wide to make them and interested in the width at B/H 3 that you decided on. Also are you happy with the width that you have? BTW:- I really enjoy watching your videos.

      Hi Phillip,
      I believe I mention the width on the video but if I remember correctly is around 24cm and the distance remains the same all the way to BH4. This width was chosen according to my sailing position and leg length so that the seat doesn't touch my legs. Experiment with a batten like I did before deciding on the best width for you.

    To avoid future water damage you might want to use Drill-Fill-Drill when attaching thing like the hooks for the cargo net.
    1. Drill oversize hole
    2. Fill hole with thickened epoxy
    3. Then attach the fastener through the epoxy plug instead of directly into the wood.
    You are doing a great job. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Ross! Thanks for the tips.
      I actually filled the hole with epoxy and screwed the hooks immediately after.
      On the tiller and mast I did fill the oversize holes with epoxy+microfibers and re-drilled them after! 😉

    Thanks

      I got them from Waveinn site, 380mmx380mm by Nuova Rade, an Italian brand.

    What exactly is the black stuff you are using for waterproofing?

    • @TheBoatRambler
      @TheBoatRambler  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fischer's MS Nautical. it's not just a sealant, it's a glue as well with all pros and cons associated...

      Princesa has been sanded and repainted on the inside.
      Now it needs all the traditional flowers and lettering repainted inside and outside!
      I will try to film that as master Eduardo hand paints everything again.😉

    Teo, nice idea to add the nets for storing stuff. But, by screwing the eyebolts I think there is the risk that the wood will absorb humidity and could be rot after some time. What is your opinion?

    • @TheBoatRambler
      @TheBoatRambler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Enrico!
      I put epoxy on the eyebolt's threads before screwing to the frames, no water should get in there. 😅
