If there's only two, I wonder why much longer lists of the best albums of the year are produced by Robert and others, not to mention monthly review recommendations. I think therefore this praise is manufactured, or sounds it.
77? He looks like he's 60. Good story, love the song of the used car salesman. Sounded like something Harry Chapin would've written..............maybe Jim Croce?
80 % of the time i dont agree with his reviews. Dude slammed over the years, great albums that stood the test of time and praised records nobody its listening to them now
While his comments can be a guilty pleasure to read, maybe he should actually try to write a song or sing and earn the right to critique someone’s work. Bet he can’t do it. What an “ ‘hole ”!
What Pauline Kael is to movie criticism and Robert Hughes to art, Christgau is to rock criticism. Great writer (though the guy he likes seems like a more hammy Mark 'Walking In Memphis' Cohen).
Marc Cohn?! Wow (wasn't Cohn kind of like a second-rate Warren Zevon himself?). Krueger actually reminds me a little of early Springsteen--just as wordy, but nowhere near as theatrical.
@@timharris8109 He has a wit and way with words that not many people are really gifted with. I don’t always agree with him, but l have to admit that he introduced me to more great music than almost anyone.
Music has always been bad. The past is an illusion. Listening to a decade of music by sampling the best 500 tracks or so is not the same as living it day by day hearing what was 99% crap.

I don't always agree with him
But Robert has shaped my music tastes more than anyone else.
I love Christgau - fascinating writer
Rich was on my radio show a couple of times about 15 years ago. Besides his own songs, he played some Sex Pistols covers on banjo.
Rich sounds pretty awesome. He should be more regionally popular. He’s great, even if he’s not the best of all rime.
Thanks 🙏
No one should take this guy seriously as a music critic.
You would have an American flag for a profile pic and leave a comment like that
@@smkxodnwbwkdns8369 you would have a user name like that and leave a comment that stupid.
I agree - Christgau is the worst.
@@timharris8109 he had excellent taste throughout the 60s, 79s, and 80s. By the 90s he had lost his ear for keeping up with music.
@@smkxodnwbwkdns8369 Nah, he was terrible back then, too.

he is 79 now.

Man, ten times more music recorded in a year than there are HOURS in a year. Think of the possible 'Triple Platinums' that may FOREVER remain LEAD.

Life aint that long is a great album
"Dean of Rock" ? I think not !!!!!!
Dr Loopok has way to much make up on
very cool
Who?
...on who?
Can you say "John Popper" ?
Except John Popper's a hack and Rich Krueger isn't.
Joke of a critic, F.

How is Christgau a good writer? I love Pauline Kael, by the way.

Says who? :)
Generic soundtracks to storytelling
Christgau‘s wrong again! Shocking! (not).
Not a song I care for. Music is not as good as it was 40 or 50 years ago

His writing style is interesting, but he’s notoriously biased, something he admits himself
