I had jones spec out the cam for my 388. Seemingly nice grind, nothing crazy. Told him what I wanted to do then asked if I was being realistic. He recommended something a little more tame for the street. Engine isn't finished yet but I gave him every data point he asked for. Great to deal with and got me all the ancillary parts too. Hello Eric, people are the same everywhere - there is always a mix of mostly decent folk, with the occasional loudmouth, braggart and troll thrown in to cause some upset and chaos. As a 17 year old in Australia in the very early 1980's, I purchased a very secondhand 1969 Holden with a 253 CID V8 that some absolute wizard had put together. After I replaced the 2 barrel stromberg with a 500 Holley, it turned the power even more! People either loved or hated these little V8s based on little more than someone else's opinion. I was always happy to change someone's mind by taking them for a run, or have a little race (conducted on a closed road with all safety precautions etc....of course). Excuses become a very important fallback position when presented with evidence - one guy who I beat five times in a row because; I obviously jumped the start, he spun off the start, the starter allowed me to cheat, thought he saw a kangaroo and backed off, finally concluded that his car needed a better tune and we would run again (he never showed for rerun number 6). I suspect that a couple of fair-minded people might accept your challenge, however I look forward to the excuse-making troll who proclaims you "didn't do it right." I hope he gets locked out of his Dad's pornhub account.

Ed smith just did a segment on old school cams , they had a cam with a pointy lobe very short duration smooth idle much more accurate lsa and in low compression engines it helped develop more compression by closing up fast they built a lot of power ! id really like to see someone build another cam like those for low compression mopars

Great rant, love it! Man, I hope these guys pony up. Thanks for the challenge and the candid comments.
Admire you for doing this and the concept. I agree with you (I hope I’m wrong) I doubt you will see many cams only because some will hate that they are not in control of the test and may feel there is more to lose than gain. Good luck.
I'm a camshaft expert. You need a 3/4 race cam. That's what my dad used back in the 1940's in his '32 Coupe!!! Comp. Lunati, Crower don't list them but I have the secret supplier for them. Go to Pick and Pull and get one out of a 4.3 V6. They are the perfect 3/4 cam for a small block Chevy🤪🤪🤪
It would be awesome to have Pete Harrell compete
The keyboard warriors are still going to persist with their antiquated forum regurgitations. But, I hope this comes off as a success.
Can we do this for the 496 test mule? I really wanna see some data from the newish summit HR bbc cams
No because it takes about 30minutes to change a cam in an LS. It takes about 75minutes for a bbc
No BS content
Will you get the cam back? I have a btr "400+" inch cam
@andrewdwyer6848 yes, just pay return shipping and he'll send it back.
I was going to get this cam and send it in, please send it ! I want to see if it lives up to the hype !
I'll kick in for shipping if you do
He said yes if you pay for the return postage.
Awesome challenge to follow! Can’t wait to compare my best guess on specs to the winner!
Will david vizard put in an entry??
I’d like to see him enter.
Probably not. Hes always strapped for time and cash.
I have my own thoughts on what size cam would work best. Let's see how close i'am
Already subscribed but now you really got me
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I hope the turnout is good. What level of tunning is gunna be done with each swap?
None.
Ed smith just did a segment on old school cams , they had a cam with a pointy lobe very short duration smooth idle much more accurate lsa and in low compression engines it helped develop more compression by closing up fast they built a lot of power ! id really like to see someone build another cam like those for low compression mopars
Hughes
Its not all about specs at this point. Its the quality of the cam grind an smoth ramp. Call nolan at isky isky he might want to play
@@hankclingingsmith8707 100% Do it!
Classic keyboard Dunning Kruger effect expertise
Less you know more you think you know 😅
Unfortunately, the LS engine bandwagoners seem to be the least knowledgeable and least respectful bunch I’ve ever seen in the automotive hot rodding world It’s like having a dumb off and all you’ll get is a headache and high blood pressure trying to inform them.
And it’s especially true when you’re dealing with the turbo turds
Wow
Youve never been in a hemi group. Everyones a engine builder but no one can make more than 420whp on a 5.7 a 480whp on a 6.4
This is a very funny comment. I especially liked the dumb off comment.
Who is the most knowledgeable?
Love it!!
I’m definitely not a camshaft expert, probably the only one round here!
Want to get your feedback on what I used, I made a spreadsheet that graphed piston acceleration and deceleration and then used the data in that to pick the lsa
Is that a reasonable thought??
