Thank you for taking the time to load this. It took me literally like 10 mins with your video. I have been back and fourth for 3 days trying to get this downloaded. The Ford Customer Service was worthless and the site did not show download instructions for my vehicle. I appreciate you!

This is why I love TH-cam it's like a digital TM. Why was the dealership charging me $136 for initial review like now sir that's gas, food, supplies, anything else I can spend it on. I came here and this video was clutch. So thank you for helping me not to be technically ignorant on my new vehicle!!😊
Thanks for this. Ford website/instructions had none of the details you included in your video. I followed yours along and was finally able to install the update on my 2014 F150. According to Ford, this update is a simple plug and play but that is not the case. Thanks
This helped me. Even though navigating the menus was still a little tricky. I just installed it yesterday. Love being able to see the current track playing and that it auto reconnects bluetooth. Cheers mate. I'm taking it to Ford today for a recall issue (minor) and would of had to pay $130 for them to update if I didn't figure it out. (2013 Escape)
xMandie7x A common problem with older versions of the SYNC software is that the system loses the contacts (address book) from cellphones. Even if you re-pair the phone to SYNC, the contacts will be lost again, usually within a day or so of pairing the phone. I've been told that installing the updated software will correct that problem.
PSA!!! The Ford website claims you should format your flash drive to exFAT, but this did not work for me! It would not recognize the files. A website said to use FAT32 instead, which is correct!
Thank you! This worked on the 2014 Transit Connect I just bought. Had to do twice, as I got a failure message the first time. Not sure what this updates. Log file upload got the 'file problem' message. Would be surprised if Ford is even supporting uploading for this version at all, given the age of Sync 1 now.
Thank you very much sir, you saved me a lot of time and trouble, all your instructions where perfect. Thank you again and keep this good thing you do. See ya.
so I'm assuming if the vehicle report not available I can still update without doing that step in 2024. I'm updated my car it was used but I have problems with sometimes saying that there's no Bluetooth device available even when my phone says its connected. yes I have the files on a flash drive.
It appears (at least for my 09 f150) I can't even download the update. My truck is registered on the site, which says updates are available, yet the option to download to usb is gone. I can only "find a dealer", which defeats my purpose of trying to do it myself. So how are you supposed to follow usb upgrade steps (still listed on ford's site) when they hide the files to download?
To add, I took the truck to the dealer to have the oem brake controller enabled for towing that I installed. I asked them about it and they couldn't even find the update. Seems after 10 years the support just goes away

My Ford focus 2012 makes popping noises after 30 minutes of listening to music. The popping interrupts the music and it won't stop until I turn my car off. Could this mean I need to update my system?

It seems that Ford is no longer supporting certain years. I don’t know for sure if your car is still supported, I would recommend just trying it to see if you are able to download an update from the site.

What do you mean by “make the sync work”? This procedure is for updating the vehicle software. If you’re trying to connect your phone to Sync that’s something different and instructions on how to do that will be in your vehicle owners manual.
Not sure what the purpose of the health report is. I didn’t have to do that step. Also didn’t need an account. Just make sure your phone is not connected like stated in the video, otherwise the display will keep flashing “usb disconnected”.
I have a fusion 2014 and after download the software update using my VIN number from the official FORD website I started the process but got stuck on installing application for more than 1 hour, the I just change to another menu options and unplugged the USB, but now I don't know what to do in order to update my sync, also when I don't have the USB connected and select install application it says installing application, what do you recommend??
I don know what else do, I have read on many places that 2014 vehicles have had the same issue like focus, do you think the dealer could install the new version? My worry is to make it unusable if I keep trying and the installation fails at the middle, I only want to make possible to start by Bluetooth music every time I turn on the radio, because now it starts with line up, do you know how to do that?
RPM525 mine usually (but not always) will go to Bluetooth audio if it was on that before the last time it was shut off. It might be best for you to call the dealer to see what they could do for you.
interesting. for my 2014 nowhere on the ford site did it say to go to advanced and install application. I will try that next. Do you now if the basic sync system with no touch screen is also update-able?

I just looked on my account for the 2014 F-150 in this video and I am still able to update it. I may go through the process again soon to make sure it still works.
